I am 44yrs old and have fought gum recession for as long as I can remember, a mixture of bad genetics and night grinding led me to needing a gum graft. Enter Dr. Cohen - my gum superhero! After a previous consult with another Perio in the area, I was told the only way to save my recession over my eye tooth was a graft. Something I was not willing to do. Well, thank God for Dr. Cohen and the pinhole procedure! I knew right after my first meeting with Dr. Cohen and his staff that this was the right decision and the right place. He answered all my questions, was very thorough and had wonderful bedside manner- as did his staff. Next up was surgery day, a quick, pain free experience that left me feeling mildly swollen and taking it easy for the next 48hrs was NOTHING compared to the nightmare stories I had heard about grafts. Simple smoothies for a couple days and I was right back to work with plumpy gums! Now I am 2 weeks post-procedure, swelling is gone, I'm still pain free and can not believe the difference! I love that he will be seeing/following up with me for a year. That is commitment! I can not say enough good things about the pinhole procedure, Dr. Cohen and all the staff at Palm Beach Center for Periodontics! A couple pointers I'd share with anyone having this procedure: be patient, don't speak for atleast 3 days post procedure- I did 5 days and had THE BEST healing results, stay on the smoothies and soft foods, it allows for faster more thorough healing, don't be surprised if there is a dissolvable stitch or two in there- Doc is just reinforcing and NO, none of it hurts- just a little "weird" feeling. Take the advil, and ice it like they tell you- it REALLY helps with the swelling.

The whole office staff from receptionist, clinical assistants, and office manager are courteous. They explained the plan and answered all my questions. The staff took time to give me a detailed home plan and gave me a kit with antibiotic mouthwash, prescriptions, and follow up. I was impressed by their modern array of up to date diagnostics like the dental CT scan. The bone graft they placed has healed completely on follow up x-ray. This is high quality, expert, friendly, and a caring specialty dental practice I recommend.

I wouldn't consider going elsewhere because of their extreme dedication to perfection in their work. I recently had a bridge procedure done on my lower right molars. This was the worst and most…read morepainful dental experience I have ever experienced post-procedure for days afterward because I needed a root canal. The dentist did not know that I needed a root canal. I agreed to have a bridge done on my lower right molars. After the temporary bridge was implanted, the back molar needed an emergency root canal which was was done by an endodontist days later after the temporary bridge was implanted. The pain and suffering that I was experienced prior to the root canal/post procedure of the temporary bridge was excruciating. The pain was throbbing in my tooth that lasted days until I had to get a root canal to remove the pain. The dentist and assistant at Smiles told me that the pain would "go away" after a couple of days. So, I waited for the pain to go away. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, pain medication didn't work and I could hardly get through my work at my job. Therefore, I had to get an emergency root canal with a different endodontist before the permanent bridge was implanted. Then, when the permanent bridge came in to replace the temporary, the permanent bridge did not fit. So, the dentist made another bridge. Finally, they put the permanent bridge in. I asked for a partial refund for the pain and suffering, as I have spent a lot of money on this procedure as well as prior procedures in the past. The dentist and upper management at Smiles are aware of the pain and suffering that I went through due to the dentist not knowing that I needed a root canal. The dentist and dentist's assistant told me that the pain from the tooth that was grinded to close to the nerve would "go away." I'll never go back. They don't know what they're doing.
