This shop is a good mix of well-lit vendor booths filled with antique, vintage and reproduction items. They sell a decent variety of paint and hardware if you're looking to up-cycle your projects. For all you do-it-yourselfers out there, we saw a really nice selection of tin ceiling tiles and barnboard available! I always feel nostalgic looking through the vintage stuff from the '70s. Both of us spotting different items and laughing, "hey, do you remember this?" There were several booths that had "sale" signs up offering 10-20% off of all items in that booth. Keep your eye out for great deals. Hubby scored a working toy machine gun (with original box) for 20% off! The lady I spoke with (the owner?) was chatty and very nice. This store obviously had a lot of regular & loyal customers as she seemed very familiar with a number of patrons in the store. At the back there is a cafe. Barista on duty. Muffins and baked yummies for sale. Small seating area. The deck out front has some nice seating. Their products and supplies turn over at a quick pace and as such you aren't stuck with the same themes and embellishments every time you go. Not to mention the size of their stock increases monthly! You may get overwhelmed when you walk in due to the amount of products they have, but will quickly be put at ease with the assistance and guidance from Urban's helpful and friendly staff. A children's area is available with toys and a TV so you can shop without distraction if you bring your kids. A layout area is available so you can go in with your pictures and choose products to complete your layout right there. Urban Scrapbook also offers numerous workshops and cropping sessions throughout the month and over the year. I recommend becoming a member of Urban Scrapbook which entitles you to discounts on product, specials, and "ins" on upcoming workshops. By being a member you also receive weekly newsletters filling you in on hot new product and upcoming workshops, events and important things in a scrapbookers life. Urban Scrapbook has a well lit, large crop room at the back of the store with ample room for cropping groups. They also provide dye cuts templates to help you with your creations. It's a bit hard to find, located in an industrial area of the city, and it's kind of small next to the big Fabricland store right beside it, but it's worth the visit if you're an avid scrapbooker! I was overwhelmed stepping into the store, I didn't know where to start. They have everything you need for scrapbooks and other craft projects, including rows and rows of stickers and rub-ons, chipboards, paints, brads, and crafting tools. There's also an entire wall of cardstock paper in all kinds of beautiful colours and patterns. While they had everything one could possibly need for any project, some of the items were a bit pricey, even for a scrapbooking store, I would say. So be selective with your items, because you can get certain ones for cheaper elsewhere. That being said, be sure to check out the back, as that's where all their clearance stuff is currently stocked at half price. I found some really cool cardstock paper back there for really cheap. They also have a room in the back where they hold their craft and scrapbooking classes. You can sign up via their website; I think one usual session is about $20. They also have examples of projects throughout the store, so you can get an idea of what they make. And there's a small play room for kids right beside the entrance, for moms who want to take their time getting stuff but can't find a babysitter. I was greeted by Wonder Woman (it was Halloween) and she was very friendly and helpful. She let me browse the store without pressure (which I really appreciate because some stores can put a lot of pressure on you to purchase). Other than Christmas decorations, Jilly's a bit of everything! There is clothing in the back (it's very expensive though - so expensive I almost choked on my gum). They also have numerous home decor items, candles, bath and soap products, they have a lot of stuff. The sale section towards the back of the store drew me in immediately (it had purses).
