Maybe it was because we had just (literally only hours prior to being dropped off at the train station) run a mountain marathon and a mountain 10k respectively, but I was over the moon thrilled about this station and the idea of it being our way home.
We waddled our way into the Morrison's near by to grab some snacks for the ride, headed to the train station and sat waiting for our train back to Glasgow. What we hadn't realised before our races was that there were showering facilities at this station, which would have come in handy to know prior as we rode the whole ride back to Glasgow salty and stinky (running out of time before our train home to shower elsewhere). I didn't actually go in to the showering area, as I could barely walk as it was, but they cost £3.50 to use, which sounds pretty reasonable?
Otherwise, this is your pretty run of the mill train station with loads of seating just next to the ticket counter inside away from the tracks, which could be nice if it were colder and people need to wait for trains.
The station was clean and bright and safe feeling. Two tracks with very sporadic trains back to Glasgow, so make sure if you're here check the times and prebook seats. It's so worth having booked seats for such a long ride home instead of risk not getting the seat you want. read more
