I recently visited Rain Spa on August 18th. It was a surprise by my friend for my Birthday. As soon as I stepped foot into the spa we were greeted and they wished me a Happy Birthday. It was so nice of them and really started out the day great. Everything from checking in, to bringing us coffee was just seamless. Everyone was friendly and knew it was my birthday which made the whole day special. We were both booked for massages and mani/pedis. Usually when I go for a massage, I'm usually underwhelmed. I always feel like just another customer that they are trying to get through and move on to the next. Angela, took the time to ask about what I did, where my concerns were. It was the best massage I've ever had, and I've been to super high end spas before and nothing compares to Angela and well the service we received at the Spa. Next was out mani/pedis which was done by Leena. She was amazing. I'm not a normal girl and often find the whole process of painful. Leena was gentle and the whole process was relaxing which is a vast difference from all my other experiences were I'm anxious, tense and in pain. Overall, my experience was great. Came here for a deluxe pedicure and had an ok experience. Service was friendly and attentive but expensive at $75 after taxes. It includes lots of buffing and pampering but felt like it's still over priced compared to other salons. Color choices was decent with variety. The paint job was alright but two nails were bumpy and paint was not even. Salon and spa was spacious and looked clean and nice. Overall an ok experience but not worth it. read more

I needed an RMT massage after having a mild concussion with head, neck and back pain in a car accident two weeks ago. (No other injuries.) I was recommended Don, an experienced Masseur. He was fantastic! He paid close attention to what happened and where the pain and seized muscles were. He spent extra attention loosening up my shoulders, neck, back and attended to all the knots. The pressure was perfect - not too soft but not hard. After the massage my neck felt noticeably better. I went back two days later for a follow-up massage. Again he listened attentively and paid attention to all the knots on my back. He got out the hot stones to soothe the knots. He manipulated my neck carefully and worked to ease the muscles. After these two sessions I almost feel like a new person. I have more to go but will definitely come back to him as he's made a difference for the neck, back and even head pain. I have been coming to this spa for over 6 years and this is the first time I'm writing a review. I've used their nails and spa service before and that was satisfactory, however this was the first time I used their hair salon and I'm sooo disappointed. Not knowing whom to request for the service, they booked my appt with Hoori (I think that how's it spelled) and while she was nice, I wasn't impressed with her work. I have semi- curly hair with some straightening that's growing out. She washed my hair once and my entire back was wet, no apology and blame me for not sitting high enough. Then she proceeded to dry my hair and without brushing it out she started cutting my hair ( this is the first time someone had ever done that to my hair). Once the hair cut was done, she then proceeded to style my hair upon my request. She did a okay job, I've had good hairstyle done before at other salons in past. After I washed my hair, I noticed there were few extra hair strands on both sides left out and I had to trim it out. Again, that has never happened to me before and it tells me that Hoori doesn't have enough experience or willingness to do a good job. (1/2 a star) I don't even know where to start. My Rain Day And Spa experience starts out from when I walk in on a Saturday wanting to book a exfoliating facial. The receptionist at the counter is relatively pleasant and greets us with a Hello...How can I help you? Keep in mind that we were recommended to this place by some friends of ours that had laser hair done, and mentioned to us that they had a wonderful experience. Unlike I I who unfortunately didn't. The lady explained to us that there is a YOUTH facial and a ADULT faciaL. Not knowing the prices I was extremely shocked. The YOUTH facial is $80 and the ADULT facial is around $180 My appointment was booked and I was ready to come back next Saturday at 2:15pm. I decided to go with the youth facial, considering that I'm only 16. My mother however decided to forfeit her spa day because of how much money it was and hope for the best that it was worth our money. (Day of facial) As my mother waits outside I going to this tiny little square room. Everything is everywhere. I can't go 1 foot without bumping into something, either a stool, A chair, the bed that was squished up against the wall, the light that I almost banged my head on, and the machinery that was practically everywhere including the Hydro Cleanser. The aesthetician hurries into the square box room telling me to go ahead and lie on the bed. Because of the lack of space it makes it very difficult for us to move past each other as for she needs to be at the front of the bed. Although she is pleasant she does not talk much and seems to look in a rush. As I lay down she starts to brush my hair back and put a hot towel on my neck and drape it on to my face. She clearly says I am late, knowing that I was 10 minutes before my appointment she still says I'm late. Then she says she has another person right after me. My appointment is at 2:15pm I came at 2:05pm if I'm not correct I'm pretty sure I don't think I'm late. As the hot towel is placed she starts to turn on the mist that is extremely humid and makes it hard to breathe, but I guess that's what you do to open your pores. (She steps out) The lady comes back looking rushed even more, and starts to slap on some different creams that make my face oily and a bit itchy. There is NO MASSAGE done at any time. She then squishes my face in some spots maybe 5 or 6 times giving me hope that she is actually getting some of those Clogged Pores/Pimples. ( I'll be honest there are more than 5 or 6 pimples on my face) She then moves on to the Black heads that are unfortunately stuck in my ears. She is successful in getting 1 out in my left ear, but is unsuccessful in getting out the other 5. She then steps out to get my mom and asks her to fill out a sheet to let my mom allow her to use this machine called the Hydro Cleanser. Which was sorta successful in sucking out some of the dirt from the black heads in my ear. She then looks at her watch and says that my time is up. I jump up and quickly get rushed out the door. Maybe she could've told us that she wouldn't be able to get the black heads out of my ears before she made me pay. Which also was a +20 extra +tax which came to about $120 As I head back to my car with my face dripping with oil and assorted creams. I start to tell my mother how it went. I see The aesthetician running to her car in a massive hurry. Although it's none of my business I do see this rushed lady running to her car after saying she had another person right after me. I then obviously came to a conclusion that she had lied and ALSO RUSHED on my facial. My mother and I then talk over what she had done and what she had accomplished. My mom took it into consideration and decided to call to ask for some kind of compensation for the lack of a poor facial. We were told that the manager wouldn't be in until Monday so we just have to wait till then. After finally getting in touch with the manager she unfortunately was not very cooperative about giving us some kind of compensation. With that being said, I will unfortunately not going to be recommending this Spa place to anyone whatsoever. I am also sad to say that I will not be giving Rain my business anymore. Do not waste you money here, I received hydra facial yesterday, which a have had many times. The esthetician was rushing and moving very fast, she ran the hydra tool over my eyes which I have never had done before by other esthetician. I woke up this morning with throbbing pain on the left side of my face, when I looked in the mirror the esthetician had given me a style from running the suction tool over my eyes. Just a horrible experience, want to make sure no one waste their money at rain spa. read more

My 1st and last time to this bad Spa experience. I was given a $100 gift card to experience this Spa. I chose Biogel Nail fill for $50 and pedicure for $50. This went wrong from the initial booking to the final finished product. I came on a Saturday for 2:45 PM. There were 2 customers, myself included. The Nail Esthetician told me that the only lady that did fills was on vacation for a month(?). To remove the polish already on my nails, would be an additional $30 ($15x2). Biogel polish an additional $20($10x2). So now it's $150+tax?? I compromised on the two procedures(forget the Fill, they could only do Manicure) so that totalled $107 before tip. I had 1 young woman(22-25) working on my manicure. She didn't know how to even cut the nails?..I demonstrated. She smoothed the face of my nail with the flat side of a small Emery board (no electric device). Left the Biogel on my my nails and proceeded to put the polish on the left-over bits of old color. I wish that I could post a pic... cause that would say it all. Lumpy, bumpy, uneven color...2 hrs. The more mature Nail Esthetician did my pedicure. That was fine. Could have complained...could have called the Owner down from the 2nd floor where she was busy with injectables but just wanted to get out of there. Wrote-off the cost and never going back. read more

My wife and I enjoy going to this place to get a couples massage as it is relaxing. On the few times I have gone, I have asked for the deep tissue massage which is fantastic as it helps work out any kinks or pain from working out that I get. (When they get to my calves, it takes a lot of energy for me not to scream in pain...haha.) In the same session, I have found it relaxing enough that I have fallen asleep. (Everyone seems to get a chuckle out of having to shake me back to consciousness!) I know that most people get the 60 minute massage, but I implore you to try the 90. I find that just as I fully feel relaxed the massage is over! The 90 minutes moves by very quickly as well. My wife and I ask for Angela or Renata as they are able to really ensure that your muscles get the proper treatment they deserve! The facility is very clean. The massage tables are heated and can move up and down. The massage area is located upstairs where you can have some tea/water and some snacks before or after your massage. The only reason why I didn't give them the 5 stars was due to the waiting area arrangement. Once you have changed into your robe (before your massage) you are ushered back into the initial waiting room. From observing the other people in the room , waiting in the room while wearing the robe leaves some people (especially women) feeling a bit uncomfortable. read more

Went here for a mother/daughter spa day. We both had a massage & then a pedicure. The massage was fine. Nothing super special. And the pedicure was ok as well. Even though the spa's environment is supposed to help relax you it didn't really do anything for me because the lady doing my massage & pedicure was in a bad mood. She barely spoke to me & was usually staring off into the distance when doing my treatment. What a contrast to the lady who my mom had. She was friendly, chatty & had a good sense of humour. My wife in particular was really upset with hers. The lady put massage oil all over her face and hair. And didn't massage her neck even though she repeatedly said that's her major concern. This is the much BETTER alternative to The Village Spa as they are only 10 minutes away apart by drive. I have had much better experiences here. This is a place I go to on my days off from work and if I don't feel like making the trek downtown. The lounge area is quite small with only 6 chairs so I cannot imagine this area during peak times and days. I come here mostly for pedicures or pedicure touch ups... nothing fancy. I have tried a facial here but it was not memorable and have not been back since for that particular service. Pedicure. This treatment is conducted in a bright airy room with about 4 chairs. Don't expect anything elegant or fancy, but Rain Spa has the signature massage chairs, flat screen tv's and magazines to keep one occupied during the service. My pedicurists are always efficient and get the job done well, and all have offered something to drink. Ambiance. This is also a salon so although I never will get my hair done here, the times I have been here, it appears that many regular patrons get their hair cut here (mostly older retired ladies talking about their grandchildren.) This is a two-level spa so the upstairs is where you go for your massages, facials, etc...As with the previous review, it is true, the lounge area upstairs is quite small (aka one bench) so it can be quite uncomfortable with males and females in robes so close to each other. This spa is clean with the woodsy-light look. It's not overly modern, but I find appropriate for this area. FYI: The one time I had my facial done here, it was with a product the staff highly push you to buy which puts a slight damper on the whole relaxing experience. They also have, I find, tacky looking jewellery at the check-out counter which I have never seen anyone buy, but should you require some studs or gems to go along with your spa experience... All in all, a great addition to the Bayview and Shep area. Although I have not found my go to for facials (sigh), I would recommend Rain Spa for clean and efficient pedicures. read more

Went here for a pedicure as I wanted something more "spa like" than your regular nail salon... this is not what I got. When I arrived I was barely greeted, the young woman who did my pedicure was very nice but extremely quiet. She never instructed me on which chair I was supposed to sit it in and I waIted aimlessly at the nail polish station waiting for her. Upon her return she brought me to a seat and pushed it backwards to reveal the little tub to put my feet in and she began on my pedicure. The pedicure was extremely below standards for such a high price, there was no special feature, scrub, massage, nor did she explain any step that she was doing. I could have given myself the same quality of service. I did have some calluses on the bottom of my foot that I told her about and asked if she could focus on them, she scrubbed over them briefly and when I asked her about it she told me that I could purchase a foot mask to do at home to help with it..... After the polish application I stayed behind for 10-15 minutes drying, she checked my nails and told me I was good to go! Got home, took my socks off... polish was all smudged and ruined. I got a mothers day treat from my husband and it didn't disappoint! I was treated to the best massage I have ever had followed by a pedicure! First the Massage done by this guy, that had me weirded out at first as I've only had massage done by a woman before, but he was very professional and knew exactly what was going on! He told me why there was pain and how I can get rid of it! I didn't want to get off the table but the pedicure was downstairs. The Staff was nice and very accommodating. This spa is pleasant and clean. It was easy to book. The staff are very helpful. The service was comfortable. Prices were reasonable. The parking lot is small with no sign telling you what to do, and no nearby street parking. Thankfully a helpful staff member on break assisted. Go early if you go at a peak time. They are adding an extra floor, but not adding extra parking. I found having someone have wax treatments right beside the manicure chairs an awkward situation and would not have wanted to have that service out in the open. read more

I questioned this at desk but cashier shrugged her shoulders -she took blonde hair out when I specified it was the black hair on my chin -got home and saw she missed some of the black hair; completely incompetent -called to complain, the person on phone was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. Both experiences were AMAZING! The facility is clean and welcoming, and quite relaxing. The people there are really nice and do their best to make you feel good. The massages have been the best I've had ANYWHERE, which is saying a lot because I get them quite often due to a bad back. The manicure was lovely, thorough and lasted FOREVER! A Co-worker suggested this place, since it was near the end of the year i had to use my benifits up as well i thought it would be perfect. This place lived up to it! I arrived 20 minutes early like they asked cuz of paper work, which was simple enough, but then they got me in this comfy robe and sent me to a room with tea and snacks to wait. My Therapist Renta lead me to a room and asked what I needed work on, I told her about my neck and she got me on the table for one of the best massages ive had in a long time! During the massage she asked about my workout routine and I explained what little I do. after the treatment she showed me some stretches to help with the neck. It was nothing short of awesome. Yes, it may be in the middle of nowhere by downtown Toronto standards, but I wouldn't travel all the way on a Friday rush hour from the financial district to this spa's Bayview&Shepard location if I didn't have full faith in their services. I spent one hour on the TTC getting here, spent only 15 minutes in the salon for the actual procedure, and then spent another hour on the TTC getting home, and it was still worth it! Basically I have been here two times, both for waxing, so that is all I am commenting on. Both times I have gone because my normal waxer has been MIA and this place is conveniently close. That said, I find it very expensive, especially for what you get. The first time I went I got the works done...legs, bikini, underarms, etc. The person doing the waxing was very pleasant and kept the conversation going, which I appreciated, but I was still red for DAYS, something I have rarely experienced before in years of waxing. That said, she got the job done. Today, however, I had a different girl, who was also very pleasant, but it wasn't until I got home, that I realized what a shoddy job she had done. Patches of hair are still there. I pretty much have to get this redone and I had to pay more to go to this place than any other place I've been to + tip! Not only that, but the facility for waxing is pretty pitiful. It's a VERY small room, with the "bed" pushed up against a wall. When I went in the summer it was very warm, so I'm not sure if there are A/C or not. The other wall is entirely windows, which of course always have the blinds closed. It's a weirdly appointed room for a waxing area. Perhaps it was originally a storage closet? With windows?? I don't know, but it's not as though you're going here and paying more because the atmosphere is so much nicer! Anyway, as I said, this place is used in a pinch and now, I'm not sure I'd bother using it for that either! read more

I've been to Rain Spa a few times and it has always been a pleasant experience. I usually have a massage or body wrap treatment. I would recommend it as a decent alternative to other more expensive downtown spas as it is very affordable and just a short trek from downtown. I called to book an appointment with Rain, and they failed to inform me that they were no longer operating at the bloor street location for which I had a voucher. I showed up at the bloor street location to find out that it had been taken over by another company. Upon trying to resolve this with the manager at Rain, she informed me that it was my fault that I went to the wrong location, and that she could not "babysit" me. She was incredibly rude and immature. Would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

MANAGEMENT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS!! They only care about the money. My girlfriend and I were in recently for a make up session and pedicure. Once again the bins for our feet were filthy. They do not clean them properly and saw them just rinse quickly while we were sitting at ours. Management barely acknowledged the issue when approached. A couple months ago my car door was hit by another car door and again management basically said too bad and wouldn't help us with who's car it is. They have cameras everywhere yet claim they don't work and brushed us off. We won't be going back as I've heard nothing but bad things from other girls. And forget trying to put a suggestion in, they'll chew your head off. You've been warned! read more

I go to Rain Spa & Salon for two reasons: it's close to home so I don't have to trek downtown, and a great RMT called Don Robichaud. I've had a lot of kinks in my back the past two years and Don is probably the best RMT for working these out and giving me appropriate daily 5-minute exercises (which I do!) to keep them out! The staff are friendly. Excellent eyebrow waxing every time I've gone (Thanks Sahar!) We did a couples package one Christmas season that was good - couples massage, couples facial, pedi for me. These were all expertly done and we felt very relaxed and groomed! The spa lunch offered as part of many packages may be tasty but I found there was no good place to sit and eat it (see other comments about the small seating area) unless you go out onto a rooftop deck (no good winter) so we often skip that. In short, it is a great neighbourhood option comparable to many of the downtown spas I've visited in the past. I like it enough that I'm sending my husband to a Father's Day package, so I hope he enjoys it! read more

The most embarrassing spa service I have ever got is from this Rain Spa and Salon. Since I moved to this area, I've been looking for a regular spa close by. As I've driven by this spa many times and it has a 4.5 stars on another website, I booked a facial appointment for myself and a foot massage appointment for my boyfriend to try it out. The whole experience was completely ruined by the rude receptionist even before the service. I always buy spa gift certificates from a website that sells gift certificate applicable to many spas in GTA. I have been to some top spas in downtown with great reviews. There was never a problem for me to show them my gift certificates on my phone since I don't like paper copies. Especially in a world with mobile data and smartphones everywhere, I believe any business should expect customers to be more environmental friendly by utilizing digital data. As soon as I told the receptionist that I only have my certificates on the phone, she was frustrated and told me they only accept paper gift certificates. I emailed her the certificates from my phone, which did not reduce her frustration. I was standing at the counter looking at her using the computer while my boyfriend was taken to get his foot massage. I asked her if everything was OK. She replied saying she didn't know how this works. I told her that she just needed to click the download button to open the certificate from my email and then print it out. She replied in a blaming tone that their printer is not working. At that point I felt like why the hell it was my business that their printer doesn't work -- you have the email. I told her I never had any issue with the other spas by showing them the gift certificates on my phone. That followed with her lecture on how different their spa is from the others and that their accountant needs paper copies for bookkeeping. Seriously, why is it my business? I felt the most embarrassed when she lectured to me "if you come back again, remember to bring the gift certificates in paper; our business is different from the others." There were two other customers at the reception desk watching her lecturing me. If my boyfriend hadn't started his service, I would have definitely walked away at that moment. Even my boyfriend heard her lecturing me and asked if everything was OK while he was getting the foot massage. Ironically their website is relax@rainspasalon.com; the experience I got was totally the opposite from being relaxed. The room I got my facial was on the same floor not far from the reception desk. Even after I started my facial, I could hear women talking at the reception desk, which even drowned out the relaxing music playing in the background. The receptionists at other spas I have been to all had a soft-spoken tone which was conducive to a peaceful environment. The estheticians are compatible with the other spas with similar ratings and price level where I went before. I will never go back to Rain Spa again. I'd rather drive all the way to downtown, pay for the expensive downtown parking and go to the other spas, which will bring me a real relaxing experience rather than stress me out from the beginning to after. I would not recommend this spa, and I will definitely never be returning. read more
