From early on my children were getting hugs and affection from the teachers which made me feel great every time I dropped off. They were always genuinely happy to greet me and my children every morning and afternoon. My children received an excellent preschool education there - and grew tremendously both socially and academically. Both of them have made amazing friendships with students and connections with teachers. Highlights for my children have been the home cooked lunches and healthy snacks, outdoor play time, thematic play based units, exposure to different languages and cultures, tinkering table, plays and performances, and classroom jobs. Ina and Mark, the directors, know each child and family personally and create a wonderful space for children to learn and play. My boyfriend and I both work full time so we signed up for Sunday morning classes. They are FULL. There is no way to move around with your child without bumping into someone, there is zero chance the instructors can check on every child/parent, and it is insanely uncomfortable. Each class is exactly the same, there are people who sign up so they can "free swim" with their kids because the lack of structure allows for this type of behavior, and there is no learning curriculum for which my daughter has benefited from over the past 4 months. Absolutely nothing. The kids range in ages in this area and there are fathers allowing their older sons to jump into the pool, soaking those of us with small babies with no consideration of the safety of others. I did not want to make an issue of the young swim instructors hardly paying a cent of attention (it's a beginners class, there's not a ton going on) but not asking these parents to stop this behavior week after week is dangerous and the majority of the reason we won't be returning. We also never had consistent, reliable instructors so there was no opportunity for anyone to get to know our child or us in order to make it a more personal experience. We felt like cattle being rushed in and rushed out and just another body in the pool. It was not a warm and fuzzy experience for us and we are pretty disappointed. After the last class where a child jumped into the pool right next to my 8 month old and the instructors were too busy chatting with each other to notice, we chose to stop our membership immediately. Without giving notice as per the contract, we lost a month of tuition for Goldfish to keep, along with the tokens we had from our baby having chronic ear infections and being unable to attend (as which happens with infants). That in itself was telling that the fee is worth more to them than providing the best experience. While I believe Bill is very nice, I don't agree with the business model and packing people into a pool. Power Aquatics gives space to their members and their instructors are consistent. The children start learning water safety immediately and the program is much more personal.

Atmosphere is in stark contrast to the dull gray industrial exterior - you'll step in to a tropical cabana den with colorful murals adorning every wall. Sign in at the front desk, then make your way to one of maybe 15 private dressing rooms (two are accessible) before heading over to the single pool. For classes, there's a clever setup where the pool and showers are separated from the lobby by a full-length "glass" wall, so parents can watch their kids' tutelage without getting too hockey dad about the whole situation. For birthday parties, it's simply free swim with some balls and platforms to make for a sweet respite from winter's chill. Props for the props, but if you have a ledge jumper, be advised: kids can only jump in to the pool from the top step on one of two entry staircases. No big - my son made full use of that rule. Bonus for lots of natural light streaming in to the swimming area, and an entire blow dry bar once you're rinsed and changed. Goldfish is a very festive spot, and I'm definitely curious about their instruction based on this impressive intro to the brand.

No grad has ever failed to enter a four-year college, and many (many) get into first-tier schools, often with terrific grants and scholarships. Al-Noor is intimate, everyone knows everyone, and the student/teacher ratio is about 15-to-one. Class sizes well under 20 usually, and everyone is invested in everyone else. It serves both standard academics (three R's) and Islamic education, which is absolutely first-rate according to Mideast scholars. It's remarkable, especially considering there is NO discipline trouble, naturally no substance abuse, no bullying nonsense. When trouble sometimes bubbles, it's instantly sniffed and snuffed, with alert tact. The only trouble is penury: education on a shoestring. But somehow, year after year, Al-Noor does it. Alhamdulillah! Grades six-12.

I know from previous experience that you have to be enrolled (aka paying) in order to use the makeup tokens so I was confused by the sudden shift, but decided to trust them. Now, my son's collarbone is healed and is ready to start swim lessons again, but now I'm being told I have to pay for a full month, instead of using the make up tokens. This plus the fact that the swim instructor (a young gentleman) told me to give my son (1 year old at the time) to him because he had to learn some independence and that it didn't matter if he screamed and cried, it'd be good for him. I was ready to cancel my membership then, but my husband talked me down.

There is usually a wait for the changing rooms after class and it can be hard to get two seats together. The seats are also kind of on top of each other. Even though it's tight we are still very happy to be here! My son's coach Luca is great and he really likes working with her. The front desk staff is also always very friendly.

Water safety is a huge priority for me and my son is building skills rapidly. Since starting he is building confidence with floating, treading water and swimming. All of the instructors have been kind, patient and truly meeting the swimmers where they are at. I have witnessed the coaches calm the fears of anxious swimmers and cheer on kids of all abilities. (We LOVE Ms. Kristy and Mr. George.) All staff seem to have a smile on and genuinely enjoy their day. The classes are small (I believe 4 children each class with 1-2 instructors) so swimmers are given lots of 1:1 attention. The facility is clean, brightly decorated with ample big changing rooms for families, hair dryers, showers and swimsuit drying machines. It is simple to reschedule a make-up on the app and check on your child's progress over the weeks with specific skills. One amazing perk is you can roll a make-up lesson into a family swim which is great to include other siblings that might not be in lessons or a family member that can't attend. It was painless to pause our lessons with a 30 day notice and no strings attached. My children love the cute play area, the option to buy snacks at the end of class and the weekly prizes at the front desk. Goldfish also is connected to the community and engaged in fundraisers and local events which is important to me. I was hesitant to sign up for Goldfish because I had a subpar experience at another swim school with difficulty scheduling classes, not enough changing rooms and overcrowded spaces--- but Goldfish has thought of it all and it is a positive experience week after week. Friends we have encouraged to join and other families I have chatted with during lessons have shared similar positive experiences. To say I was nervous at starting at a new center is an understatement. I was hoping that we would switch once our son was a little bit more verbal. Now, after this past week, I can't imagine him being anywhere else. The communication is amazing! We get multiple pictures and updates every day. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. There is also a really cool diaper and wipe service that is only $40 a month! The staff have been incredible especially his teacher Felicity. My son absolutely adores her and just wants to follow her around. I also love how much time they get to spend outside and doing active activities. My son is not someone that does well sitting around.
