I've been a member for over a year, and this is without a doubt the best gym I've ever joined. Why? The people. The space. The vibe. The offerings. The responsiveness. The community. The people who work at Raintree often remember my name, welcome me in, and help with any issues that come up for me. The people who work out here come in a range of ages and body types, and are friendly and thoughtful about helping keep the space nice for whoever is coming in next. The space is well organized into sections that feel private and very functional. The yoga space is very zen. There are a few hangout areas that include couches, or tables and chairs, and feel very home like. The recovery room is quiet and dimly lit. There are several spaces with weights and weight machines and each have their own personality. The track is perfectly located to make it easy to include the sled and/or a warm up or cool down lap along with weight lifting. The vibe is consistent and reminds me of being in a spa. Not hooty tooty, but rather, like I have a rich friend who has invited me over to their gym and is glad I've come over! The gym always smells nice and fresh, is clean and welcoming, and has good music on at exactly the right volume. It's easy to walk around as the paths to places are well delineated. And, I always feel like I belong. The offerings, responsiveness and community all resonate deeply with me. Currently I am focusing on prepping for the DEKA, and Raintree has classes, trainers and the equipment I need to prep for this. I am also working on becoming more centered and lowering my cortisol, and the yoga classes and sound bath class are really helping me achieve better sleep, less stress and more feeling connected to my body and heart than I have in a very long time. The variety of equipment and my amazing personal trainer, Kelly, have helped me achieve so many of my personal fitness goals without getting injured, including a 4 day back pack trip with some girlfriends while carrying 40 pounds. I am currently working with Kelly to compete in my first DEKA and to do a pull up. I will leave you with one last example to demonstrate the extra mile this amazing space goes to to help me meet my personal goals as well as to feel very cared for. The other day I came in and asked Chad how I could measure out 100 meters so I could practice for the DEKA. He told me he would measure it out for me. I don't know if I would give this place three stars maybe 2.5. Sorry but this gym is getting overcrowded and nobody who works here seems to want to clean shit or even fill the steam room bottle even when it's sitting outside empty. Take a hint people and also maybe pick up trash and hair and all the gross crap that's laying around the pool area and the gym and the locker rooms. And maybe get some air fresheners in the locker rooms they smell like a sweaty a-hole. read more

Love raintree. The staff is always friendly and helpful! They have a lot of equipment choices if that's your thing, and also multiple class choices still even with covid. They have spots on the floor marking where participants should be. You need to pre register right now for classes because of covid but used to be you could just show up They facility has always been clean and they really are going above and beyond right now to make sure everyone can feel safe coming to work out. I've been going to alive by Raintree for over a year now and have really enjoyed it. Only thing I wish they had was a sauna. So I went to go try Raintree to see what it's like. I love that they have a sauna and classes, that part is amazing. But the equipment there is all worn down and not the nicest. The weights are all compact into a little area and there isn't enough room or benches for everyone. It's always pretty busy no matter what time you go. If you want a nicer gym for half of the cost go to alive. read more

This is the best gym in fort Collins hands down. I have lived here my whole life and been to every gym, but there is none like raintree athletic club. They have every amenity that I need including great classes a pool, weights, a punching bag and even racquetball. However, that isn't even the best part, it is run by people who truly care about who you are, how you are doing and where you want to go in life. Their "purpose" it is to inspire growth and impact lives which I have seen happen in other members but also experienced in my own life. My mother has just passed away from pancreatic cancer at a much too young age. As I reflect on the last year that we had together, the people who were there for me and who helped my mother really stand out. Raintree Athletic Club gave my mother a free membership and unlimited access to the wellness room where she could get a hydro bed massage before going to the sauna where she found some relief from the very painful process in fighting cancer. The hospitality team knew her by name and made her feel welcome and wanted which meant so much to our family. I don't know how else to thank Raintree Athletic Club for positively impacting my life and my mother's then to tell others that this is a place run by genuine people who are compassionate and truly want to be a support in your life however they can. Great company! I really love the atmosphere here. It is nice how much employees value cleanliness and courtesy above all else. I began working out at Raintree about two years ago, and wasn't sure at first about getting a membership there. Have had some bad experiences with other fitness clubs in the past, and I didn't know if it would be a good fit. However, Raintree has really blown me away with its level of service. The staff are friendly, and happy to answer your questions about the club. I've gotten to know many of them on a regular basis. I am a huge fan of the Zen Room for exercising and stretching. I also like the weights side of the gym. And the main area for cardio and dancing studios. This really is an all-in-one fitness center! It might seem harsh to drop 2 stars especially in this weird "are we in a pandemic or are we not" time, but it has been 8 years since my last review and the landscape has changed. RAC is still a great gym, still has friendly staff, I still love Jill's yoga classes, but right now for me it comes down to value for the price of membership. Currently RAC is the last of a breed - the premium, locally-owned athletic club. It has great amenities, but are those amenities worth the cost at more than 2x, 3x, or more than 10x of the various membership levels offered at a national chain that recently opened in FoCo, particularly when I don't use many of the amenities? I've joined the national chain and will see how the next couple of months go before deciding, but at this point I think there is a high probability that I will drop my RAC membership. Here are some of my specific concerns: * The deterioration of the pilates program I've been taking group equipment pilates classes at RAC for about 5 years now. At one time several of the best pilates instructors in town were teaching at RAC and there were evening and weekend classes that I could easily work into my schedule. Now they are down to 2 instructors for the equipment classes, I will only take classes with one of them, and only one of the classes she offers really fits into my schedule. On top of that, management of the equipment just isn't up to par any more -- props seem to walk off to other parts of the gym on the regular, and the straps on the reformers are oddly sticky when they are pulled in certain directions, resulting in jerky movements or reduced range of motion. When I think about it, it annoys me that I am paying extra for this, and the member price for a 10-pack of equipment classes is a pretty minuscule savings relative to other pilates studios that have popped up in FoCo over the past few years ... in fact, member prices are more expensive unless you buy a 10-pack. * Are we following COVID best practices or are we not? On the one hand, attendance in group classes is still limited and the studios are still being sanitized, but with the recent re-institution of an indoor mask mandate in Larimer County there was absolutely no communication to members or, apparently, group fitness class instructors -- some instructors are requiring masks to be worn while others are saying it's okay to take them off. I guess it is up to the individual instructor to decide? Also, weight machines have been moved from the basketball court (where they had been moved to allow for social distancing) back into the main studio. Now the weight and cardio machines are packed closely together, including in the aisle leading to the yoga studio, pilates studio, zen zone, massage rooms, etc. Now there's barely enough room to walk through, so it's particularly annoying when you have to pick a path around people who are using the equipment to get to yoga/pilates classes. * Technology So those group classes that have limited attendance? You sign up for them on the RAC app, which honestly isn't that great. Oh, and classes with an additional cost (eg, pilates) are handled through a different system. I would go on, but man this review is getting whiny ... * Non-portability of membership One of the reasons I joined the other club was that its network of clubs will most likely allow me to continue to work out on the regular when I am traveling -- I know that certainly will be true when I am visiting family in CA but perhaps business travel as well. Yes, RAC is independently owned/operated, but it would be nice if RAC were part of a network of independently owned/operated clubs with reciprocal agreements to allow their members to visit other facilities. Sure, I could look for gyms that offer day passes when I travel, but that additional cost is just one more barrier to keeping up my workout regimen. Things I continue to appreciate: * The yoga program. The Enlighten studio is large, has great flooring and adjustable lighting, and pre-COVID had a great assortment of props (hopefully they will all come back once COVID is in our rear-view mirror for good). As stated previously I particularly love Jill's classes. * The friendliness of the staff. They still greet you and say goodbye as you go in/out of the club. * Lockeroom amenities - built-in locks on the lockers, towel service, hooks outside of the showers, availability of body wash/shampoo/conditioner/hair dryers/styling equipment/etc -- not something I appreciated before, but a difference noted in comparison to the other club. * Amenities I should use more - swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, cafe read more

Raintree is by far the tippy top in northern colorado! They're constantly updating the facility and equipment and cleaning. Oh, the cleaning! The variety of classes offered is almost overwhelming. The staff is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. I have never felt out of place or uncomfortable here. Their response to balancing safety & service during the height of the pandemic could be a model for other businesses. I don't think I have ever left RAC in a bad mood, regardless of how my workout went. I have met some of the best people here & crushed workout & fitness goals. I started going to RAC when I was going through a big transition in my life & the sense of community wasn't something I joined for (I really didn't even know that was a thing at the time) but it was one of the biggest things that makes RAC and their staff different from all the other places in town. Go for the excellent workout/ class stay for the people & the culture. Full disclosure I have since moved over to RAC's newest 24hr extension, Alive, across the street. I have been visiting RAC since before it was the RAC. I've watched several remodels and enjoyed the addition of a cafe. The group class teachers seem to stay for years and years. This is probably a good sign of great management and a sense of community. I love this place because it doesn't feel like a meat market. Everyone is friendly and down to earth. They have THE BEST group classes in town AND have a yoga studio that is part of the membership. The facilities are clean, updated and well kept. read more

Super nice employees and members. Great group classes and instructors. But... Their technology is AWFUL. Their app for checking in to the club, booking classes, checking your scheduled, etc, almost never works right. I've witnessed fellow members having to give their names and phone numbers to front desk check-in people because their app wasn't working again. We members have accepted it will probably never work right. It's super frustrating if you want to reserve a swim lane because the only way to do it is through the app or on the web site. The web site reservation system hardly ever works either. So then you're stuck having to call the club and ask an employee to reserve your swim lane for you. It's really discouraging. read more

This is a good gym. I primarily go for the weight room and I am very happy there. There's a good community of people. You can choose to be quiet and do your own thing and if you want to, you can make a few friends too. The pool and sauna/steam rooms are good too and they have classes, racquet ball and machines if that's your thing. A word of advice though: This is not the kind of place to fling weights around and show everyone what an animal you can be while you're on a steroid cycle. We can spot that mess a mile away and it won't go over well. However, if you are enthusiastic about your fitness and you want a friendly place to get your daily workout in, it's a good choice. I recommend talking to the front desk staff about sessions with the personal trainers. I did that when I jacked up one of my shoulders and with the help of a trainer I rehabbed my shoulder back to normal and now I lift happily and heavy again. Great gym! It is very clean and there are always lots of events going on. They have a lot of equipment in the cardio and weight areas, an indoor track, two fitness studios, a yoga studio, a cycle studio, and an indoor pool. As a group fitness fan, I love that they have lots of different classes on every day of the week at many different times. They also have a good team of personal trainers with a variety of specializations. The treehouse is open most days for anyone with kids, and the RAC cafe serves lots of delicious food and drinks. Stay connected through social media so you can be aware of the various events they host! They have anything from group fitness parties to movie screenings to parents' night out (pizza and a movie for the kids at the gym so the parents can go out for the evening). Oh, and they offer massages too! It can be a little intimidating the first time you come and see all these fit people, but I don't think that's unique to RAC. You will find that the staff are very friendly and welcoming, so don't be afraid to say hello! There's something for everyone here. read more

After deciding that battling other college students for work out machines at the CSU rec center, I decided buying a gym member ship was well worth it! My boyfriend and his friends had been using this gym, so i decided to use one of the many guest passes they give to members. Upon arrival, I was greeted and loved the atmosphere. They have a little shop for coffee and snacks. Plus, some work out clothes. It look me awhile before i decided to join, but when I did they pricing packages for what you could afford! (as a student, that isn't much) But giving a discount to students is what nailed me into a contract! I did a semester membership for a great price! I LOVE MY GYM!!! Just returned from a massage with Jessica. I've had plenty of massages. Jessica is certifiably in my top three. I told her an area to target, and she did so by using a neuromuscular technique. I rarely doze during massage but I obviously got very comfortable with Jessica very quickly. I experienced sweet deep daydreams throughout the hour-long massage. THe room itself was tastefully decorated and the music was very soothing. While there is some noise at times from the gym users, it's hardly worth commentary as it's barely noticeable and obviously faded as people move to other equipment or just stop talking loudly :) You don't have to be a member of RAC to see Jessica, but members do get $10 off massage and **complimentary child care**! read more

I have been a member for about six months and I like the club particularly the staff who are really all very nice and try to be helpful with the possible exception of the general manager. My complained about this club is the locker rooms in the men's they have a couple of plastic covered cubes that everybody must share sweaty back to sweaty back and there's never enough room. And that would be nice to have a few machines with their own monitors on them so you can watch something that you want to watch as opposed to What they think you want to watch I go every day. There really isn't anything I'd change about the RAC. I signed up initially for racquetball, and it's still my primary activity. They organize tournaments a couple times a year, and there are plenty of people willing to play anytime (like me, so hit me up). My kids love the pool and the family locker room is great, marred only by the free weight people who will occasionally use them only for the toilets. This isn't RAC's fault, just a few lazy lifters that don't want to walk to the men's locker room (it's always men). You're at a gym, you should want to walk 100 more feet. Also cool: they keep adding stuff like Parent's Night Out, a table tennis table, and stuff at the Cafe. They're always open to feedback and take members' suggestions seriously. Even if I were to move across town I'd probably still go to the RAC. read more

I am a big fan of this gym. I have worked out at 24 hr fitness, Anytime Fitness and Miramont and I definitely like the atmosphere of this gym a lot more than the others. There are plenty of people from all types of different fitness levels and lots of different equipment to chose from. I emailed Amanda because I was getting into a fitness rut and she set me up with Brandon, a personal trainer at the RAC. Brandon is awesome and I highly recommend him to anyone looking to train with a true professional. There are also a ton of classes that I haven't hit up yet, but I will be taking advantage of now since Brandon kicked my ass into shape! This is an OK place for those who are into traditional gyms. They had a lot of machines, weights, a running/walking track on the second floor, lots of classes, a pool, spacious locker room, free towels, etc. I prefer to work out with kettlebells; not only was there a meager selection, but people were not in the habit of putting them back where they belonged so that you had to hunt them down. I took the BodyCombat class; it may burn calories but anything where you have to take 6-10 classes just to get the footwork down really annoys me, plus my knees cannot take all that hopping around. I really enjoyed the 30-minute Core Strength class; it's similar to the boot camp (kettlebells, TRX, stability ball, bocu ball, etc.) classes I take at a martial arts studio at home in California. read more

This place is fabulous. The environment is welcoming and positive. They have every machine and free weight you could ever need and their group fitness schedule is varied and runs all through out the day. Their childcare is top notch. I feel that my child is loved and very well taken care of while he is there. He lights up when I bring him. The pool is great and the steam room and sauna are wonderful as well. Love my local gym!!! Instructors and staff are phenomenal! There is something for everyone here. I go a minimum of 3 times a week and play Volleyball there on Tuesday nights. I was at another gym in town that had lower dues but was quickly annoyed with the lack of classes and the child care policies. RAC is worth every penny!! Cardio machines-great variety, good quality, lots of types and there are enough machines! Weight room-I'm not a lifter but my husband is and he says they have everything he needs. I've noticed they have a more traditional weight area and then two circuit areas. They have a special part in the back for people who want to lift with more privacy and peace and quiet. Classes-amazing variety, great instructors, great schedule! Yoga, group fitness, Group Power (my personal favorite) and much more. Pool-perfect for swimming laps or for family fun time. Love this place! I love going and like looking at the quotes all around the gym- Beautiful equipment & design! It has awesome affordable childcare, and family locker rooms. My best friend started going & I tried it with her free pass- fell in love. We found another place that was cheaper but it wasn't as serene & clean as this gym. The RAC staff is super nice and I usually never have to wait for machine like at the CSU gym. The group fitness classes are consistently great - challenging, great teachers, always changing it up, offered at great times and often, and you can always count on a great sweat. I joined this gym about 1 year ago. Now I'm switching to Miramont Fitness. Here's my early comparison. RAC is great for families. Your kids (up to 12) can go swimming with you for free. The child care is super cheap. $2.50 per session. Me, I like doing group fitness. RAC has a very cool 5:30 am lineup, consisting of aerobics three days a week, group weight lifting 2 days per week, step aerobics 1 day per week. You can also throw in yoga, cycling or Pilates on certain days at 5:30am. If you simply get you booty in the gym at 5:30am, (no excuses,I did this even when my kid was nursing and I was waking up at 3:30am every AM), you WILL get results. There is a group who daily does the 5:30 am line up and I'm here to tell you, that is 1 fit group. It is inspiring. Now. I personally like Zumba. (I lost 40lbs doing Zumba and had fun the whole way). RAC is pretty uptight and Zumba is just not popular. It is in a middle class neighborhood. Most people are married in their 40's. Many have been going to this club for literally 10-15 years. You can be in class for 1 year and still no one says hi. They hardly say hi to each other. There is no joyfulness in the classes. Not enough Zumba classes. I incidentally took a Zumba class at Miramont Fitness CENTRAL and I couldn't believe the difference. Friendly, joyful, happy people. It was fun and enjoyable to be there. They also have a 5:15am lineup. Not as well crafted (not as much variety, not on Saturday). You have to buy a membership for children over 6, but then the child can use the childcare for free ( which in the end is cheaper that RAC). No swimming at Miramont Central. You have to pay about $100 per month to access another Miramont club which has the pool. Anyway, I'm going to give Miramont a try. For me, I've discovered enjoyment is the key to sticking with the workout. It is just not enjoyable at RAC. I find myself missing workouts for not very good reasons and then actually paying money to go to a Zumba club downtown, Club Fusion, because it is at least fun. read more
