He was amazingly straight-forward with me, and I trusted his opinion, which from me, is saying a LOT. He is an expert in chronic ankle instability (too many sprains - the ankle never tightens back up) and explained my options to me. I opted for surgery, and his staff were amazing that day - very organized, very professional and incredibly nice. I came to him with chronic lower back pain that is likely caused by a bruised/ruptured lower disc in my spine, having now been in an extreme amount of pain for 2-3 weeks. He was completely dismissive of the amount of pain I am in due to my back issues, and would not discuss any kind of immediate pain management, arguing with me that if the current medicine he gave me isn't working, what else would I like to try? I'm the patient!!! I do not know what to do, that's why I came to him! He kept asking me what I wanted to do about my condition. If I knew that, I would also be a doctor and wouldn't need him. But, seeing as I'm not, I was relying on him, a supposed professional, to provide me help, which he did not. He was condescending to me when asking questions about my pain, and telling me I shouldn't be in as much pain as I am in. When asked to show him the pain, I told him I couldn't physically draw the line of sensation because I couldn't bend down to trace it down my leg into my feet. He just kept saying please try... please try to what? All of a sudden not have excruciating pain anymore? Eventually he got a "poker" to use to draw down my leg, which was a Stanley hardware level. Why the hell does he use a Stanley level as a medical device??? After all this, he just referred me to a pain management specialist which was on a list of doctors noted for dealing with pain medicine addiction. So, after all this, it was clear he thought of me as a person simply seeking pain medicine as a junkie, not as a real person who is living in excruciating back pain due to a possible spinal disc rupture. He wouldn't discuss anything else because he was bias against me. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Additionally, the front staff misplaced my insurance information and may have put someone else's insurance card info as mine. That is extremely concerning due to the amount of PII they process every day.

The pain was on and off during that time until finally the pain was permanent. That's when I saw Dr. Antoniades. Dr. Antononiades and his entire staff was very professional and answered all my questions. Dr. Antoniades performed a Foraminotomy and even removed disc fragments that did not show up on the MRI. Finally no more pain and now I can even sleep for 8 hours without being in excruciating pain. Before the surgery I could only sleep for 4 hours at a time. I called to let them know that a mistake was made and spoke to two of the rudest, most unprofessional women (one was named Hilary) I have encountered in medical setting. No apology. No sorry we made a mistake. And "That's when he takes his lunch. He can't see you then. Do you want to reschedule or not?" Some people have no business interacting with patients. Just look for another practice.

I find it very helpful for my sore hip, neck and back.

I talked to my primary care doc ( who I also love) and he called Dr. Cavanaugh. Before he even finished telling Cavanaugh about me, he was getting things in place to see me. Dr. Cavanaugh has a great bedside manner and is a greatly skilled surgeon. He repaired and straightened my back and did more for me than I imagined. He has a PA, Mina who is equally skilled and caring and both of them take their time to listen and answer all your questions and don't rush you out. In fact, his whole staff is just as dedicated, hard working, kind, and efficient. When we were in the waiting room, his staff brought around snacks and water. Who does that? To get a doctor who is so amazing can happen but to get a doctor and staff that are equally amazing is incredibly rare. I would not allow any other orthopedic surgeon touch my back. Dr. Cavanaugh and staff are my precious gems!

I began seeing Dr Abed several years ago at the request from a different doctor. I saw him and immediately he pinpointed the pain spots and he said this is what you have & these are the treatment options. He brought it up on his computer to show me how damaged my spine actually was and why I was and in so much pain. He offered me injections in my back to alleviate the pain. I got the injection for a few years and then it stopped working and I required surgery. He booked a Rhizotomy and burned my nerves. Very successful. He believes the same as me too treat with the least invasive approach first then if needed go to the Rhizotomy or facet joint injection or sciatica injection. The office staff is good. The office is always clean. I highly recommend Dr Abed to help you with your pain management especially back pain. He has been very helpful, informative, gentle, supportive, respectful and professional. He got me through a difficult time when my right leg was not working and was numb but painful and I had difficulty walking. He treated me and about 3 months later I was back to normal.
