He said you're not here for your leg, you're here for your hip. I said if the thigh pain is still there after surgery, then what? No response He gave me a referral for PT to go to before Surgery. I made appt and went, however I was told after they reviewed my multiple Chronic Issues that my problems were too severe to be treated with PT. So no Surgery, only getting worse. I trusted his opinion as he made the tendon surgery seem like a "no biggie". And it would have been if he didn't overdebrid my tendon and destroy my ligaments .he Also caused severe nerve damage . Even though ligament damage can be one of the complications , he claimed he had no idea what happened leaving me to struggle. He refused to order any diagnostic testing, further damaging my elbow because ligament repair needs immediate attention for proper healing. Johns hopkins surgery team immediately was able to see the problem . With a simple ultrasound and mri. I Had to have a reconstructive surgery using my hamstring as reinforcement . Unfortunately due to the long period of time before treatment I had more damage and needed a second reconstructive surgery. The University of md occupational health doctor as well as Dr cook proclaimed my injury WORK RELATED therefore workers comp got involved . Workers comp was fine until after Dr cooks surgical error was acknowledged . My employment was terminated ! It's outrageous as Dr Cook is one of their "top" orthopedic surgeons. Huh. Dr. Cavanaugh is the most caring and hardworking doctor I have ever had. I broke my back in Italy…read moreand when I came back to the states, I knew I needed to see a doctor to help me. I talked to my primary care doc ( who I also love) and he called Dr. Cavanaugh. Before he even finished telling Cavanaugh about me, he was getting things in place to see me. Dr. Cavanaugh has a great bedside manner and is a greatly skilled surgeon. He repaired and straightened my back and did more for me than I imagined. He has a PA, Mina who is equally skilled and caring and both of them take their time to listen and answer all your questions and don't rush you out. In fact, his whole staff is just as dedicated, hard working, kind, and efficient. When we were in the waiting room, his staff brought around snacks and water. Who does that? To get a doctor who is so amazing can happen but to get a doctor and staff that are equally amazing is incredibly rare. I would not allow any other orthopedic surgeon touch my back. Dr. Cavanaugh and staff are my precious gems!
