I stopped by a few weeks ago to get a birthday gift for my nephews first birthday. They recently moved so I was excited to check out the new digs. They are now located next door to Planet Fitness so there's a bit of parking space wars depending on when you're going but overall they have a giant parking lot. The interior of the store is a ton bigger than the old space. There's actually room now and you can move without bumping into something. I found the Royals section easily but they also have Chiefs, KSU, KU, Current, Sporting KC, and just Kansas stuff in general. I've always found the value to be good. They do offer Nike and other name brands so it's not cheap but the quality holds up. Service was friendly and efficient. I purchased a Royals shirt and a fun little Royals children's book for my nephew. He'll be ready for the Royals opening day and we can prevent a future cardinals fan! Go Royals! read more

I like this Kansas Sampler, pardon me, Rally House. I remember when ... never mind. I'm not going to date myself here with memories of how Kansas Sampler used to be. It's Rally House and it's located in a little shopping complex in Mission, right next door to Nothing Bundt Cakes. Specializing in sports gear and Kansas-themed products, it's where I go when I need to gear up or buy gifts for out of town relatives. It is on the pricey side and you could probably find other sportswear cheaper at Walmart or Target but the selection at Rally House is unbeatable and the staff is really friendly and helpful. read more

It seemed that when I left Manhattan (Kansas, not NYC), I would never find another great selection of Kansas State University (my alma mater) merchandise anywhere! It felt like Kansas City was over-run with Jayhawks and Mizzou colors. Well, Kansas Sampler really satisfied my fix for Kansas State merchandise. I DO understand that KU is closer (and more...sigh...popular because of sports) but that doesn't mean that there aren't Wildcats in Kansas City! Besides college apparel and knick knacks, Kansas Sampler also has a good selection of 'Kansas' stuff- meaning, of course, Wizards of Oz memoribila (something I've been sick of since it follows me whenever I left the state) and other products that are made in Kansas, like honey, chocolate covered sunflower seeds (delicious), and other homey, "Made in Kansas!" stuff that is great for out of state friends who either miss Kansas or like the novelty of it. Kansas Sampler also always seems to have great sales, either outside their store on racks, or inside on varying items. The staff is always really friendly. It has either been younger college-aged girls or an older lady when I've went, but they are always really polite and don't bother you while you are browsing and just looking around. I've also heard that if they don't have something in the store, they can order it for you. I haven't tried it, but this might be a good option if you know exactly what you want but they don't have it in stock. read more

I went to purchase a KC Chiefs Super Bowl Champions shirt this morning. The line was so long that it snaked through the store ... BUT ... the employees worked feverishly to sort and tag the shirts that had just been delivered and made our wait manageable. They also encouraged us to "be kind to each other." Just a bad experience. Everything overpriced since it's all being bought by alumni and their parents. Rip off. The guy working the counter had the IQ of a 5th grader. He doubled charged me, assured me the first charge was cancelled so it would not go through. (not true!) I gave him a credit that I had and he forgot to apply it. AHHHHHhhhhh Then I had to call back over the phone because I live 1600 miles away. The lady (asst manager) tells me to come into the store after I told her where I live. She was extremely rude and not helpful. Probably cranking because it was still too early for her to be working, even thought it was 10:30am. This assistant manager should honestly be fired. I saw her the day I was in the store, she was worthless, no help to the guy struggling with my purchase. Avoid this KS Sampler and go to another one. Fail! read more

If you are looking for anything related to any of the local sports teams (KU, KSU, Mizzou, Royals, Chiefs, Sporting KC) than this is pretty much the place to go. They've pretty much got it all with a pretty large selection, especially if the team in question is in season (seems like Royals are shrinks in the winter while Chiefs take more room, etc). The prices will be pretty much on par with what you will find elsewhere. Cheaper than the fan stores at the stadiums but a bit more than what you will find at Target or Walmart. Basically you get the fan store level of options (lots of shirts, hats, misc. knick knacks and all that) and for the increased amount of options, you pay a bit more than you'd pay at target where you get 2 t-shirt options... Some of the other KS Sampler stores are a bit larger (and have a wider variety of team areas including Nebraska, ISU, etc) like the one on Quivira but this one is just fine if you are a fan of one of the main 6 local teams. Rock chalk Jayhawk, go KU! This has been a banner year for Kansas Sampler. With the Big 8 Championship and the Final Four and the NCAA Championship, I've personally purchased no fewer than 10 new KU shirts for my daughters and me. And that's not even counting the tattoos, key chains, folders, sweats and other KU paraphernalia we've picked up. As far as my family is concerned, taunting MU fans is priceless. Oddly, the Kansas Sampler sells MU gear too, and of course K-State, Emporia State, Fort Hays State are represented. But let's be honest, KU basketball is a bigger draw than all of those schools' football and basketball combined, and the merchandise is weighted accordingly. I believe being over charged seems to be a theme in these stores. I was in the Lenexa, KS location yesterday was over charged by $110. I knew I had about $50-$60 worth of over priced stuff and the clerk S Oakpark on register 1301 at 5:19pm turns around and tells me $178. I said like hell it is, delete it and I'll re-add it. She gets back on register and turns around and says $63.58. WHAT THE HELL? Did you think I wouldn't notice. I'm wordering if this is a trend in this store because you are selling to parents, tourist, alumni, etc.? She didn't even apologize, but coped an attitude because I questioned her. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS. She even expected me to walk away without a receipt. She bags everything and hands it to me. I walked into this place today after eating at Chipotle. It was really cluttered and filled with sensory overload. I couldn't really get a handle on where everything was supposed to be located. The people that worked there were cool. It's a smaller store so that may be why it looked messy in there, but you can't beat having college gear to buy at a reasonable price. read more

We spent almost $300 at the mission store. I didn't mind the $80 price on the CHIEFS sweater I bought. My Joe Montana jersey has lasted me almost 30 years. I'm an old lady now so I thought a pretty sweater would be better for me than a jersey or T-shirt. This was a special occasion being invited to a game at Arrowhead and I thought it would last me at least 10+ years (especially at that price). I wore this sweater ONE TIME to the game last weekend. We were in a suite so I sat indoors and watched the game. We came home and I noticed the sweater had pulled in several areas. Long threads hanging off the sweater. It's knit so I can't cut them or I will make a hole. I hadn't washed it yet, I just wore it for a few hours indoors. There was no reason for this sweater to look raggedy like this after wearing it ONCE. The kid at the counter wouldn't allow me to return OR exchange for a different item. He pretty much accused me of ruining the sweater on purpose. I'm really upset. My nice sweater that I thought would last me a good many years is unwearable after I wore it ONCE. Aside from going to the pro shops at the local stadiums Kansas Sampler has to have the largest selection of sports apparel you will find in town. They have everything from the pro teams as well as the area college teams. I'm pretty sure I even saw a few wizard of oz trinkets too. The prices I suppose are a little higher than what you might find online, but if you are in a hurry or just don't want to wait for things to get shipped to you I'm sure you can deal with a couple bucks. The staff is pretty good about helping you find what you are looking for and if they don't have it at this particular location they will check the other area stores and see if they do. read more

Largest selection of sports apparel and random accessories you will find in Kansas City. They can be a bit pricey but it's worth it to me. They have really cute girls/women's clothes that resemble vs pink college collection too but it's a wider selection. read more

I visited the Kansas Sampler in Mission, KS last Thursday evening. There where two ladies working at the time. I was greeted when entering but not assisted while shopping. I was struggling to reach merchandise that was up high and was not offered any help. I would have asked for help if I wasn't bothered by the fact that they were gossiping about co-workers. I believe the one doing most of the talking was Jensen, she checked me out. I was really bothered by the gossip 1) because it's very unprofessional and 2) because she was complaining about someone who is either on maternity leave or will be, she was bothered by the fact that whomever is getting ready to go on maternity leave or already is would be working less hours when returning to work. The things she was saying where very rude and horrible. I only purchased from the store because it was late and I was going to the Royals game the following day and wouldn't have time to do my shopping later. Kansas Sampler should really do a better job of training their employees. I will not be returning. read more
