The gentleman was very friendly and patient as I kept adding donuts and pastries to my order. The two loaves of bread were hot and fresh. The donuts were delicious. The cafe con crema was very good, as was the behemoth of a cinnamon roll that I ended up sharing with five other people. This place has a line down the street every morning. Now I know why. This store is very comparable to your average grocery store in the US. Lots of fresh produce, bakery, and all the typical items you would normally find in a grocery store. They have a really nice café, my boyfriend loved the coffee he got, and I especially enjoyed my hot chocolate, as they make it with coconut milk which gave it a really wonderful flavor. After assisting me, two employees began talking to each other about customers who speak English in Puerto Rico. They commented that if someone lives in Puerto Rico, they should speak Spanish, and questioned why people speak English if they already know Spanish. These remarks were made while I was standing there and appeared to be directed at me. I found their comments unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate for customer service employees. Customers should feel welcome and treated with courtesy regardless of whether they choose to communicate in English or Spanish. Puerto Rico is a bilingual community, and no customer should feel judged or mocked for the language they use. I hope management addresses this issue and reminds employees to treat all customers with respect and professionalism.

Cooked food, sushi, breads, sandwiches, fresh baked pizza, booze, produce, meats and almost everything you can cook are available. I usually pick up local spice mixes to take back home as gifts instead of a keychain soon to be buried in a drawer, fugly fridge magnet or chipped shot glasses. This spice section was pretty full and was inexpensive compared to other metro areas and souvenir stands. Since everyone eats and cooks, instead of hot sauce or other bottles of condiments, I love to share dry spices or canned meats, that are easy to pack. Coffee is another one that we love to try out and share after sipping samples. Boricua is great ground dark roast to consider. Walmart might be bigger with more stuff but we really search out local grocery stores to get a feel for a pulse of the area.
