I've never received anything less than stellar service from the doctors, techs, and reception-staff at RVC. They treat you like family. Plus, I've seen human doctor's offices that are not near as clean as RVC. I've been seeing Dr. Erickson since 1988. He has taken care of my many dogs! He is the most compassionate vet I've ever known. I've recently had to put down my 12 year old dog due to health issues. I took my 13 year old senior dog in, as she seemed to suddenly, occasionally, whimper with pain one evening. After a physical check, blood work, urine check, pain shot, it was determined that she likely had a kidney infection. $350 cost including pain pills and antibiotic pills. I've never left this place without a hefty bill, but have been a customer for years due to wonderful veterinaries. After two weeks, Maggie was totally back to normal, but being older I called to ask if I could get a few more antibiotic pills to be sure the infection was gone. The lady in Customer Service directly told me "no." I would have to bring Maggie in again (and obviously pay for another office visit). I'm retired and on a fixed income, and I got the feeling that $$$$ was more important than my pet!!! I will be finding a new clinic, one that doesn't put "profit" over care. Interesting how "my" doctor can do this, but Ralston Vet Clinic customer service argued with me, which was very irritating! read more

I've been a loyal client for decades... since the clinic was located on 84th Street. Love my vet and always receive great care for my pets. But the reception desk ladies tend to be arrogant and crabby. Make me feel like they're doing me a favor for speaking to me whether in person on the phone. Both me AND my dog tremble when we enter the clinic. read more

Ralston Vet has saved my dogs lives many of times and with two diabetic dogs it's hard to pinpoint what wrong as an owner! Other vets have written are dogs off to pass away and every single time Ralston Vet has given my dogs a second chance!! The technicians are extremely nice and pleasant to talk too, while waiting for a half an hour for my dog to finish getting a heart monitor on one of them came out and told me about how much longer and brought a water for me as well!!! Not only do they take amazing care of my dogs they made sure I was well taken care of too!! I can't imagine taking any other dog to a different vet! Brought my cat in once, we stood in the lobby for about 15-20 minutes with her before we were even acknowledged. When they took us back, they said we were late to check in and charged us a penalty even though we were there! When I took my dog in for a lump on her side, the Doctor said that the cyst was normal and no reason to remove it and that she was fine. A few days later it exploded at 11pm at night. I felt so bad due to the fact that it was probably uncomfortable, in an awkward spot, and I didn't try to do more. I wouldn't recommend this place to friends/family. read more

I had a similar bad experience recently. Went in with a dog for a broken toe, cost 511.00 for a splint, xrays, 75.00 vet charge, etc., etc. They insisted on a follow up visit a week later. On that day, President's Day, there was a terrible ice storm. I arrived 10 mins late at 11:10 a.m. for an 11 a.m. visit and was told they cd not see me because I was late. Dr. Kennedy said she did not want me to see a different vet even though there was one available. So, they asked me to come back a few days later. I got a call on the day of the rescheduled appointment saying the vet was "out". I was there the next day 30 mins early for fear of getting sent away again only to find out then that Dr. Kennedy was still out. They offered for me to see a tech but wanted me to come back the following day because "vets want to see their own patients"...I was ticked NOW!! I was getting a lot of run around from a situation where I was turned away for showing up 10 mins late on an ice storm day, yet it was okay for the same vet to cancel on me twice! In popped a different vet, more money, wanted me to return to see original vet..I said, NO, got tired of the run around and money shake down. This stuff NEVER happened when Dr. Jernigan ran things. I am taking my 7 years of loyalty and 4 dogs elsewhere. Sorry Ralston Vet, you have gotten too big for your own good. I will fondly remember the good service and kindness shown to me by Dr. Jernigan. He saved at least 2 of our dogs and was there to see them over the rainbow when their time finally came. Forever, Dr. J. You are the best!! While the vets at this clinic are outstanding - the support staff is lacking. They are a busy, busy, busy practice and it is loud and frenetic. My cat was in the hospital there and I waited 12 minutes on hold before someone picked up and said they would call me back. I waited 2 hours for a call back from the vet as well. It may be fine for yearly appointments, but when you need compassionate care from everyone - it misses the mark. read more

I have been taking my Yorkie puppy Jack to Ralston Vet for a couple of months, and the first couple visits were fine. A couple weeks ago, he was getting one of his shots and a couple hours before the appointment they called to tell me, I would be seeing a new doctor, which I said was fine. The new doctor (DR. BLOCK) however, screwed upthe shot ( which I have never heard of) My puppy was crying so loud it sounded like he was screaming. I let this go because she said that this sometimes happens and she gave him the shot again and it went ok. The next time I made an appointment I specifically asked for my previous doctor, but when I entered the room, it was her. I decided not to make a scene and let her give him his shot, and could you guess? she screwed up again!!! She gave him a shot that he already had, and didn't need again!! I spoke with owner who was very apologetic and seemed to understand our frustration. Within a couple days, my dog started throwing up so I made an appointment at another vet. I called ralston vet to let them know what was going on, and i spoke with a manager this time which, was totally rude and tried to blame it on the vaccine company! I take both of my cats to Dr. Anderson. She is very kind and my cats like her. She is very gentle with the cats and when I first brought one of them in after adopting her, Dr. Anderson answered all of my questions and explained to me how to make sure my cat was receiving the best care she deserves. I can always rely on Ralston for short notice appointments, their prices are fair (meaning I like the prices very much) and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Also, once in the patient's room with my cat, just before we were about to leave we heard a large dog barking in the lobby. Immediately the tech said she will let us know when the dog had left so my cat wouldn't feel unsafe and frazzled in the lobby. I appreciate how they are very sensitive to my pets' needs. I would not recommend anyone taking their furry family here, Sadly we took our Rottweiler(Summer) Here for awhile , every appointment they never answered our questions or solved the problem , it all began with UTI's she kept receiving and we kept returning to Ralston vet for help but they would just send us home with pills to get rid of it , after multiple times in one year we took it upon ourselves to change dog foods and she never received one again, 500$ later and plenty of pills , and no assistance for the money we spent we finally got her UTIs under control. Since November we have been taking our baby in for stomach issues , she was continuing to get sick at night, not eating the same , becoming more tired as the days went on , They continued to just send us home with nausea meds for her to help for the moment. About 400$ later I was seriously sick of seeing my dog not healthy , I took it upon myself to change vets , and Took Summer into Walnut Creek Vet(HIGHLY RECOMMEND) , The first visit they were completely comfortable around her, They took her blood , X -Rayed her and Donated medicine that would have cost a fortune at Ralston vet, To finally find the problem all along. Our summer baby had two forms of cancer in her abdomen this entire time that Ralston vet missed over and over again. We were informed last week that our baby did not have much time left , at this point her liver is failing , her cancer has spread daily. 03/10/17 We had to make the difficult decision to send Summer to heaven and to remove her from her pain, I truly wish Ralston vet would have done their job and Ran the test they said they were going to , maybe if we could have found this faster she would still be here today. I would not wish this pain upon anyone, A piece of us is no longer with us and we didn't even get the time to truly say goodbye. I cant believe this vet is even a vet, only there for the money . I have been to numerous vets and at first Sadie loved going, and then it was like her sense was not good. She would pull back and fight me to get in the buildings. I recently found out that she had torn her cruciate in her knee, and needed surgery. I had been told this would cost $5000.00. I thought now I love my girl as much as my kids, but this is not guaranteed, and is a lot of money! So I spent some time researching Omaha Dr.'s that do this surgery cheaper. Long story short after emailing a lot of vets I had Rec'd an email back from Kasia at Ralston Vet. She answered all my questions, so I scheduled my consultation with Dr. Erickson. He spent almost an hour getting to know Sadie and explaining very thoroughly how he does his surgery! I schedule her surgery and she is doing great! For the first time I did not get a fight or pullback walking into a vet clinic, she was actually so excited! When we got in the room she went nuts to see Dr. Erickson I could not be more pleased with the passion/commitment that this entire staff puts into the pets. I would recommend Dr. Erickson/Ralston Vet to everyone who wants their pet to feel safe and loved! It's just like your kid you want them to be safe! I had to have my elderly cat put down a few years ago. I had been present during other euthanizations growing up with other family animals. The experience I had at Ralston Vet was absolutely horrendous. An older, male vet came into the room and I immediately disliked him. He was cold and heartless. Because my cat was not comfortable around new people and was scared, they had to give him anesthesia so he wouldn't hurt anyone, which I understood, but the vet was so rude about it. They brought me back to my cat, and he was laying on a steel table, surrounded by barking dogs in kennels and other vets working on animals on other steel tables. The vet made me feel hurried, and I didn't get to spend much time with my cat during his last minutes alive. It was so impersonal and uncomfortable. Thinking back about this experience still makes me sad and angry. I will never return to this clinic. read more
