I have been going here for 4 years now, multiple animals of mine and my family members go here. All of the vets are amazing and kind in many ways. The best vet (in my opinion) is Dr. Kelly, she is newer to the clinic and she is hands down the kindest most caring vet I have ever had take care of my animals. When I had to make a difficult decision for my dog she was there and made sure we all knew the choice is not easy and it will be okay. She told us she would even stay with him after we had to leave, gave us so much time, so much kindness and care. Took my dog there with a yeast infection on his paws ,as he was licking paws all the time. Doctor came in looked at rash on his stomach for 30 seconds, then prescribed two medications, one of which we told her we didn't want but she prescribed it anyway. No test ran just an observation. I don't know any doctor that good that can diagnose by observation.....either way she prescribed pills that will only mask his problem,not get to root cause, and I get it there's no money in my dog being healthy, and if she fixes the problem I won't be back for more office visits and prescriptions that will never fix his problem, only keep him dependant till they no longer work, and making him worse off health wise in the end, it's more than obvious they care more about profit than helping your loved ones. Anyone with a brain knows there isn't a prescription on the market that cures anything, they only help manage the problem , and that's only temporary.......it's so sad that this is what the majority of vets and doctors have become,,,,,,,,,no money in helping someone or curing disease, lot of Money in keeping patients dependant on meds and return office visits...........would not recommend if you want the best for your pet!!!!!!!!!! We were referred to Westgate Animal Clinic by a friend and we are extremely happy with our pups experience here! Not only are there rates competitive and fair, but their service is amazing. From the front desk, vet techs, and veterinarians, everyone is so welcoming and informative. We've taken our puppy here for a wellness check up, blood work, and recently for her spay. Our minds were at ease because all of our questions were answered. The day of her spay, we were called about her status post surgery and when we could pick her up. We will definitely continue to being our girl to Westgate! The location is accessible right off the 80, exiting on 84th. Parking is private parking, they share a lot with another local business. I love Dr Fred. He's been the best vet ever. I honestly feel comfortable when I'm there and my cat loves him too!! The only reason I wouldn't give this is a full five is because one of the last times I went I had an interesting interaction with the receptionist. An older woman, she just rubbed me the wrong way. Besides that, this place feels like home. My cat will be continuing to come here for the vet. Also, the prices are very reasonable for the good quality of service. This is easily my favorite vet clinic, coast to coast. The staff is caring and compassionate, even to humans. My dogs like them back. Dr. Peterson is a fine vet. The facility has easy access and great hours. The website is clear and answers many of those simple questions we all wonder. They stock supplies for pet owners too. Convenient for when you are already going in, and important if you need specific formulas for you pet. They also take euthanasia seriously. Kindness without mistakes. I've experienced a veterinarian who botched this on one of our Pomeranians. Not pretty. I'm off to there today to get the fussy Chi's nails done. Quick and easy, reasonably priced. read more

They have historically been reasonably priced, though their prices have gone up recently. My only critique is that my dog has had multiple major surgeries that added up to about $3K and I've never once had a doctor talk to me after the surgery or followup in any way. The Vet Tech that I worked with was very good - I never saw or spoke to the doctor who performed the surgery. The last surgery included pulling several teeth and would have been nice to have consulted with the doctor about the prognosis. read more

This is the best clinic I have ever taken an animal to. They have the absolute friendliest, informative, and welcoming employees! Every time we have had something come up with our dog we have called and asked for advice and if we should bring him in or not. They are never annoyed that we called and instead offer us wonderful advice and reassurance! The times they did recommend for us to bring our dog in they were able to work us in within the same day or the next day! My 3 year old, previously healthy, cat had a seizure before I left for work this morning. I had never seen a vet in Omaha, because my mother is a vet in the Des Moines area. In a panic, I called the wonderful professionals at Westgate and they, sensing my distress, found a place for me in their busy schedule and told me to come in right away. I did not even sit down before they ushered me into an exam room. They are truly wonderful people. My visit was quick, informative, and they treated my cat and I extremely well. The prices were also very reasonable for the checkup and blood work. I will most definitely be back to this wonderful place that provided me great peace of mind. read more

This new animal clinic just opened in the Westgate neighborhood in February 2016. Used to be a clinic for people, I believe, but completely renovated into a veterinary practice. It's easy to access from Center, 84th or Hascall Streets and provides ample parking in the back. They recently had an open house event that included a tour of the facility and I was impressed! The lobby/waiting area was very spacious and attractive. There were numerous exam rooms for both dogs and cats, a special dental cleaning room and surgical suite that included a post surgery recovery area and holding kennels. The staff were all super nice and able to answer all my questions. Prices on routine procedures were reasonable and even less expensive than other animal clinics I've frequented. No one looks forward to visiting the vet (especially the dog!) but next time Willow needs something medical, I'd feel comfortable taking her here. read more

We decided to try Westgate Animal Clinic for our 6 pets because it was close and now I am very glad we did. All of the staff and Doctor Petersen are very professional and caring people. Dr. Petersen explains everything in detail with every question you ask. We happen to have a very clumsy Great Dane that has had to have a few emergency visits, Dr Petersen and the staff has always gotten us in right away and has taken excellent care of our big baby. This clinic is a really good clinic as far as the doctors got Dr. Peterson is the absolutely best doctor he provides the best care it's really high-quality care and he explains everything unfortunately some of the staff are not so great then the receptionist can be moody at times rush you off the phone and hates when you ask a lot of questions and gets frustrated with you some of them besides Lynn do this as well not all of them most of them are pretty good if you can get past this you should bring your pet here just try to ignore some of the Customer Service. read more

I lived nearby and brought a stray cat in a couple years back, they bent over backwards to get in contact with the owner and reunite the pet, staying late to help and they kept the cat overnight since I could not take it home with my pets, I called the next day and they had reunited the cat. They truly care. Our family pet went from vet to vet and never was correctly diagnosed until we came to Westgate. It wasn't good news but we finally had an answer and were able to make him comfortable for the time we had left. Dr. Peterson always takes time to answer your questions & give your pet the best care. He knows his stuff, explains things thoroughly, and him and his staff go above and beyond to take care of your fur babies. I will never go to another vet in Omaha. read more

I run a rescue/advocacy group that prides ourselves on providing funds to those that go through our spay and neuter program. We sometimes have several dogs a month that need these surgeries scheduled. For years, we have used one particular clinic in Omaha for these surgeries. However, they book up quickly and sometimes are booked too far out for some dogs. With that being said, we looked for another clinic we could take our overflow to. We were referred to a vet clinic in Omaha called Westgate Pet Clinic. When I contacted them in the beginning of February, I first explained who we were, what we did, and asked if they were willing to work with us to spay and neuter our dogs for special pricing that they provide to other groups that referred us. They were very nice and agreed to help us out. I received an e-mail with their special pricing for rescue groups. This past week, one of our group members took her dog to them for a spay and other services. I contacted them during that day to ask how they would like us to pay for the services and they replied to send a check through the mail. Unfortunately, when the owner of the dog came to pick her up, the receptionist there put a halt to everything because she was not informed of this. This was the same person I spoke to a month ago and explained these people and the dog would be coming in and she agreed. The owner of the dog was treated very poorly. Our spay and neuter coordinator was contacted while the owner was there and she was treated very poorly as well by Lyn, the receptionist. I will not get into details on that because I was not there and I do not know what was said. It boiled down to the receptionist not giving the owner of the dog until she was informed of what I called about earlier. They also did not honor the special pricing like we previously discussed and agreed upon. That, of course, put the owner in a huge bind financially and they had to dish out more money than they expected in order to get their dog back. I was informed of all of this that evening and called the next day and left a voicemail. A few hours later, that same receptionist called me back so I could discuss with her what happened and where the disconnect occurred. What it boils down to is the three that were in contact with the clinic all told me the same story but the receptionist said they were all being dishonest. She claims we never spoke about the group and our pricing though I have the e-mail to prove we did and they agreed to give us the special pricing. She was so extremely rude to me as well. When I tried to explain to her why this was not right, she said she did not want to ever work with our group or our dogs again and to not call them from here on out. So, because of their mistake and miscommunication, we were disrespected. Before I wrote a poor review for how poorly we were all treated, I wanted to first reach out to the vet, Dr. Petersen, who owns Westgate Animal Clinic to make things right. I was first called back by someone that worked there that said they were calling on HIS behalf. I wanted to talk to him. I finally was able to speak to him and was told what I knew happened at the clinic was false. Again, insinuating we were lying. He did, however, offer to give us rescue pricing as we previously agreed upon. I declined the offer at this point because it is not about the funds now. I am paying the owners back the money they lost with this. The vet did also apologize for the receptionist, Lyn's, behavior in how she spoke to us but no further action is being done. He also agreed that he did not want to conduct business with our group or dogs from here on out. It is clear that they had a disconnect in their clinic and many tried to cover it up and blame others for their miscommunication. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. read more

The clinic is also are very affordable! My dog needed his bordatella vaccine and they didn't even charge for an office visit! I chose this clinic because of all the good reviews, changed where I previously went, who wanted the money up front before any treatment was given. It's hard enough to deal with an illness of your pet, let alone getting him/her to the vet. What I feel at Westgate is compassion. The staff is knowledgeable, caring, and supportive. This morning I took our baby (Willow, a Cattle Dog / Terrier Mix) to the Westgate Animal Clinic for a nail trim and other routine maintenance. The staff and Vet were EXTREMELY friendly and professional. They asked if I wanted to join them in the exam room while they took care of Willow's needs. They were very caring to Willow while performing treatments. It is more than obvious that this team loves animals. We will be taking Willow back for her annual checkups. I am so impressed and what a refreshing relief from my last experience with my previous vet. This office is organized with a very friendly staff and my vet Dr. Peterson goes out of his way and takes the time to explain and make sure I understand his instructions and recommendations. The office has a very calm and relaxed pace and they show they really care about making this a pleasant experience not only for my dog but for me as well. At my last visit they even asked me if i would like them to carry the dog food I bought to my car. Parking is so so convenient.I am a dog owner with 30 years of business management experience.
