I trapped my new friend under a shoebox, and breathed a sigh of relief when Mr. McKinzie helped him relocate to a more acceptable location outside of my home. We don't wear shoes in our house and they always have shoe coverings. This summer we had extra spiders running around and the technicians spoke with said if they were still an issue after she sprayed that I could call again to get another service. I have also called them for what I thought was a rat problem in the garage. They came out and looked. It turned out to be bats and he taught me the difference between bat and rat feces. The technician crawled up in the attic to assure me they hadn't made the way in yet but I should fix the metal covering just in case. The last outside spray the technician came to show me that I had a potential water leak possibly with my refrigerator and it was leaking through my foundation. I haven't been outside for awhile and was alarmed by what I saw. I guess since the summer when we ran the sprinklers I didn't notice that the water bill was high because it was lower than the summer. Anyway, we checked and sure enough the water line we never used was leaking somewhere in the walls in the basement crawl space! I called a plumber to get it taken care of right away. While down in the crawl space looking for the leak my husband noticed rat droppings and I called American Pest again. That rat coverage I didn't think I needed when I signed up is covered. It's always good to to be prepared for anything. Everyone I've had interaction with at American Pest Control are kind and don't make you feel like an idiot for calling about a problem. I was a loyal customer of American Pest Management from 2011 to 2024, across three different homes…read more That's over a decade of uninterrupted service, consistent payments, and great interactions with their technicians, who I want to be clear are absolutely excellent. Every one of them was professional, courteous, and did great work.   Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the administrative side of the business, which has gone drastically downhill since the company was bought out around 2020. What was once a well-run and customer-focused operation is now disorganized, confusing, and rigidly corporate.   After moving outside their service area at the end of 2024, I was charged an early cancellation fee, something I had never been made aware of, and frankly, it made no sense considering I had been with them for nearly 14 years. At no point during my time with American Pest Management was I made aware of an annual contract, and not once did I receive a renewal notice... until after I had already canceled service. That was the first and only time I ever received a renewal notice in all those years.   Because of that notice, I reached out to ask whether the new owners of our house had continued service, since I had been told by American Pest that if they did, I would be refunded the cancellation fee. When I followed up, I was told this refund offer had "never existed."   So which is it?   This kind of inconsistency, coupled with the complete disregard for a long-term customer, is deeply frustrating. To be hit with a cancellation penalty almost 14 years of continuous service is not just disappointing, it's exploitative. If this is how American Pest Management treats loyal customers, I can only imagine how they treat new ones.   Again, the technicians are wonderful, and this review is no reflection on them. But the business practices, customer communication, and administrative policies are seriously broken.   I would not recommend American Pest Management based on how I was treated. Loyalty clearly means nothing to them.
