We were actually advised that this trail was not the most baby-friendly because of the difficulty and the fact that there is absolutely no shade during this hike. However, after looking over it online and reading the guidebooks carefully and hearing that it's a hike not to be missed, we decided that we would give it a go and head back if it gets too difficult or hot. We were so glad we did because this was the most memorable part of our trip.
The hike was not easy, and we had to even carried a sun umbrella to block the sun for baby. However it's was doable if you're in good shape or just very determined. It feels like you pass by so many different terrains, a desert, a traditional beach, a rocky beach, into the woods, even a tundra at one point. The end of the hike is when you reach the very end of the island and that's where you celebrate on top or edge of the world! Then get ready to hike back the same route.
We only saw 1 other person on the entire hike and it took us a few hours because we had to stop or got lost since signage isn't great. Definitely download the google map trail, get a good description to see where you are going, and bring lots of water.
If you're wanting more after the hike, don't miss drunk bay as well. It's a small detour from the start of Rams head trail, but super cool to see all the beach art sculptures people have made from coral & stones. read more
