I was puzzled to read the reviews of Ram Print that are displayed, by comparison to those that are sort of "not displayed" and "not counted in their overall rating", or something along those lines. On review (the "first!" review) is highly critical. Why is that included among those that count toward a rating, while a lot of more recent reviews do not? Ram Print has done a number of types of work for me that were (a) experiments, (b) took creativity to figure out, and (c) produced really, really fantastic results. They have an artistic sense of what they're up to, and they understand the gear they have, which they keep upgrading. I'm not sure what more one could ask for, except for them to be fun to be around. And guess what? Their good humor and cordiality are a tremendous help to figuring out the projects they are presented with. Their prices are reasonable, they meet deadlines and they are likable people. I have seen people come in to drop off some work who were in a dreadful mood even before they got there. Some of what they wanted was beyond what a print shop, even an innovative one, could reasonably produce. If one wanted to head into San Francisco and spend a couple of thousand dollars setting up a project, and the project justified that expense, then that's a different story. As it happens, I know what I'm talking about. About twenty years back I had a book printed, with great color plates, that looked like it came from a major publisher. I had eight copies made and the design work, layout and printing cost me close to $14,000. Crazy? Maybe, but I had a group of nearly identical objects I wanted to sell and each book had individual plates. It didn't exactly work out, since it was too impressive, but it gave me a clear idea of how far one could go, if one was willing to. But notice that the costs were high and it involved months of work. That is not what a local print shop, no matter how creative, is set up to do. What I'm trying to say is that I suspect some critics of Ram Print have an unrealistic idea of what is practical, at what cost and in what period of time. That said, Ram is capable of producing astounding results. I count myself as very lucky to live close by. read more

The margin for error is always high when dealing with printers, but I found Ram Print and Communications wonderful to work with. They saved me with their quick turn on a spiral binding job for booklets we needed quickly. They were professional and I will use them again. I wouldn't even compare them to Kinkos. RAM Print makes Kinko's look like a speacialzed printing place. I went in to pick up my order it was not finished not only was it not finished but it was not done correctly no one knew how to open the file, when they did open it they did not know how to read it. When I returned the next day to pick it up it still looked like it was color xeroxed and not lazar printed then when I left I noticed that they made a copy for them selves I asked why they had a copy and could I buy it or have it they said oh no we keep a copy for our reference I said you don't need a copy I am never returnining here the woman said well we keep a hard copy for our files I said well no you will not this is our work our design our text and If I can not buy it or have I I need you to distory it this work is our work and your not to take it. I waited for her to tear it up in front of me and I walked out the door. There is Kinkos and then if you need a real printer pay the extra money for a professional. Well, Ram Printing hasn't improved in greeting customers since I tried them a couple of years ago (I notice that other people have experienced the same thing). I just walked out after trying one more time. Walking in, I asked the person behind the outside counter if I needed an appointment--"No, just go on into the sales office," he said. Inside there were three people: one young man sitting on the left with earphones lost to this world. No eye contact. No change of expression when I walked in. Directly in front of me was a woman on the telephone with a customer. "Hi," I said. No eye contact. No response. None from the woman just inside another room working on her computer. I waited. Waited. Waited. Finally, a shaggy dog came out, scooted along the filthy carpet, and slobbered on my clean jeans (at least he noticed me). That was it for me. I turned and walked out. Never never never to return. It's really too bad that much of retail has lost it. I'm not asking for sophistication. How about the basics? Making eye contact when customers walk in. Speaking to them before they speak to you (or ever!). Keeping a clean environment. AND NO DOGS IN A RETAIL ENVIRONMENT. Thanks, but no thanks! read more

Ram printed the escort cards, menus, table numbers, and programs for my wedding. They printed each guests name at the top of their menu which was a nice touch. They did original artwork for each and they turned out beautifully. A bit more expensive than I budgeted but they turned out so nice that i didn't mind. They also had a very quick turn around time once the proofs were approved which is great because we didnt agree on a proof until a few days before the wedding! read more

I used this firm to make a poster for an event. They were hired by my planner. The original estimate was $100-150. It had no custom design at the end of the day, just mounting a 20x30 photo on a board so people could sign it. They ended up charging over $250 with no explanation. They refused to even respond what the additional "layout" costs related to. Every time I contacted them, they got mad at my planner and insisted on it being paid. My advice to you, check your bill carefully. Although the mistakes they made on my billing didn't add up to very much, all it takes is a bunch of larger orders and their billing mistakes will add up to a hefty sum. On my job, their count of originals was wrong and they charged me a higher price than they quoted. When I got home and calculated it all out, I called them. They couldn't explain the differences and they said to correct it, I had to come back that same afternoon, as they wouldn't be able to make the corrections tomorrow. What!? If they were closer and it was earlier and there wasn't any traffic, I might have done it, just on principle. As I said, the money wasn't much for me, but watch our for yourself. read more

I'm not one to write a review on a business but I think I should on RAM PRINTING First off I needed some printing done on a few items and I have always used a local printer, but they seem to be all way to busy to take on the few small jobs I needed to get done before Christmas, I was referred by a friend to give RAM PRINTING a shot at it, I contacted them and spoke to Zip, and let him know what I needed to get done and when I needed it by a few email exchanges later I had the final proofs ready to look at. To my amazement the art work was much better then I expected! The price was much better then I had been quoted from other places as well. I received the items that I needed printed and I was more then pleased with the results. On top of that a few days later I received a follow up call from Zip and wanted to know if I was happy with the printing and price. Now that's customer service! No guarantee that they could do it, but they did try which was more than other firms would do. The print quality was clear, solid black and as positioned on the pdf file. If I could make this review a "zero" star, I would. After being a Ram Print customer for years with my own personal printing needs as well as though of my company's, I was shocked by the unexplainably awful and inappropriate behavior of STEVEN BLACK who works at Ram Print. Talk about the worst customer service experience I've EVER had! After working with the wonderful Elliot on a print job that had some minor complications, I arrived when they opened on Saturday to sort things out, and was hoping to have the images done for a family event later that day. As Elliot and I were discussing the best options, Steven interjected that they wouldn't be able to help me. Elliot assured me they would do all they could and so I went over to a table to sort some images. As I was walking over, Steven told me that I had a "snotty attitude" to which I calmly replied that I was finding him to be unnecessarily rude to a loyal customer. I quietly sat down to sort my images when he said, "You know what, we're not doing your print job!" I replied in shock, "Really?" He overreacted further by saying, "We don't want your business, GET OUT! NOW! LEAVE RIGHT NOW! I'M KICKING YOU OUT." It was not only completely shocking, but was a verbal attack out of the blue. I did nothing to provoke such terribly inappropriate behavior. Needless to say, I quickly gathered my items and told him that I hope his weekend improved. Because of Steven, I WILL NEVER do business with Ram Print again and after hearing what happened my company and family/ friends won't either. I had a terrible customer service experience here, not once, but twice. I needed some basic assistance putting a document together and was appreciative for the help. When I came back the following day to have more prints made, I was rudely told to help myself next time and that I was taking time away from other important business. After this, I asked why my prints came out with a font that looked lighter than they had the previous day when I had the same copies made. "This is the font you chose," I was told, before I came to find out that the printer had broken down and this was the cause for the change in print quality. I was told I would receive an update as to when the printer would be fixed and still have heard nothing, days later. Normally I would not want to write a bad review, but I was appalled at the way I was treated here. After spending a good amount of money two days in a row on some very basic prints, I am surprised to have been treated with that kind of attitude. these guys were ok at best. they took weeks, lost my order, were not the cheapest option, then only got the job done once I'd followed up many many times and even then after they said it was all done I had to call several weeks later to get them to finally ship my product, which made me look stupid at work. next time we'll use someone else who takes even a small job seriously. read more

I was stunned to receive the proof for printing my business card. I gave a precise mock-up including font, type and photo size, and I did not request design services. It should have been a no-brainer. Yet, Ram enlarged the type and photo, filling up the space, and added a color background. The only similarity between what I asked for and what I got was the order of information on the page. There were no readability or design issues that justified making changes: my mock up clearly proved this. I fail to understand why they would be so bold as to disregard instructions. They operated according to their own intentions, and this showed me how little they value me as a client. Attached to their proof is an outline regarding client responsibility for proofreading, changes, etc. I wish that when I submitted my job, I had given them an outline regarding their obligation to service me. My time was wasted, and my timetable is now off. I let them know I'd be taking my business elsewhere. read more
