We were about a block away from the tram, two blocks away from the bridge and the river, and everyone around us is just a convenience with 7-11s and cafes everywhere just in case you need something else. The stay here is very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely stay here again for our next visit in Melbourne.

Just a short walk to Burke St Mall, Melbourne's famous lane ways, Federation Square and those places people go to watch sports. Me recommendation is to pull up Yelp and scan for good places to eat. If you are looking for something interesting to eat it is a ten minute walk to Collingwood where you'll find original and tasty places to eat. There was a double bed, two single beds, and a sofa bed. Plenty of room to move around. It was all clean, no bad smells or weird stains. It was hard to be quite during the night due to a squeaky bedroom door, so bring oil just in case. The staff was very friendly and unbelievably helpful. Hazel in reception was only too happy to tell you the best places to eat in and around the area, and as it was the Easter long weekend, even offered to call the restaurants to check that it was open. It kind of sucked that the wifi had to be paid for.

O, and they offer FREE parking while every other bastard charges at least $15 over night. It's close to the tram lines and the great shopping in Smith Street. You can't go wrong. For the down sides, just work around the noise by taking some ear plugs with you and don't even bother trying to sleep in past 8.30am. As for the A/C, just open the rooms up so the main bedroom will also get some of the A/C or perhaps see reception and ask for a fan. No bells and whistles? just ensure you supply it yourself! like wifi broadband etc.

When I got up went to the gym fitted mainly with aerobic equipment & pulleys. Some free weights. Then quick shower before jogging of to my meeting in hawthorn. The tram 16 gets you there towards city too. Large rooms and comfy bed for $200. Can't complain. Easy check in & out.

Even being in a conference on their 9th floor felt more like a holiday (with wrap around city views) than a 'work-thing'. But when I did get to my room, it was everything you would expect from a artist inspired, super modern boutique hotel. A large supply of T2 tea was also greatly appreciated. Tried to go on our first evening in Melbourne, but unfortunately the place was closed due to a private function (Christmas party). Came back a few days later. The weather had changed so it was unfortunately not the sitting outside kind of weather we had hoped and what looked like Trunk was designed for. Decided that we would go to the diner side, instead of the Italian side. Walked in and what struck us immediately was the noise! We had our hearts set on trying this very cool little spot. We initially had to wait for some seats to be cleaned up, even though there was a number of open tables. Once seated our server(s) were very friendly and we had our food on the table in no time. I went for the burger and my wife went for the chili salad. My burger was ok, but the bun was such that it nearly disintegrated and I was left trying to eat a squished out mess. I tried my wife's meal and it was definitely very tasty. Overall, The food was good, but not fabulous, like I had hoped. Even though the place was only 1/2 full, the noise levels were such that we had to nearly yell at each other to be heard. The entire place is glass, hardwood floors and metal chair (which make a seriously loud noise when moved). This would have been a cool place to linger and chat, but unless you have a blowhorn that's just not possible. Out servers were very friendly and good. I think had we been able to sit outside this would have been a fabulous spot. I'll go back, as long as I can enjoy my meal outside.
