Karage was juicy on the inside with a thin crispy batter on the outside. Takoyaki was freshly made. Ramen broth was both rich and light. It almost tasted like bone marrow and was white from hours of simmering. Noodles were thin and al dente. It's true the pork belly is very thin but for $15 base it's what I would expect and you can always add extra. Came at around 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon and we had to wait for a table. The wait wasn't that long but I was kind of surprised, considering the time day. I appreciated being able to check in online and seeing my place on the waitlist. The restaurant is on the smaller side but it was still bright and vibrant. On to the food, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. It was served promptly. The ramen was very nice. The broth was flavourful and the pork was very tender and yummy. I got the egg, which was also very good for an extra $2. I did think portions were on the smaller side. Service was good too. It was efficient and we were checked up on. Ramen Raijin is currently my favourite ramen spot. They have consistently delicious and piping hot ramen and side dishes that are always spot on. Most recently I tried their seasonal Raijiro Ramen which is very hearty and comes with thick cut pork, pork backfat, thick chewy noodles and a mound of beansprouts. Recently tried Ramen Raijin and have maybe found my favourite ramen in Toronto. Tried the mazejiro, karajiro, and tsukemen. The noodles were very thick and chewy which was the perfect medium for the rich, heavy tonkotsu broth. I thought originally that the ramen would be too heavy but it's so flavourful and not too salty. Currently one of my favourite ramen shops in Toronto. The broths are super creamy and well balanced. Not too salty and lots of umami. Additionally, the noodles have a good chew which makes me think they make it in house. It's currently my favourite spot for Tsukemen ramen, and one of the few ramen places that service this dish. Also, usually I find the gyoza at ramen shops to be sub par but Ramen Raijin has a really good gyoza dish. The dough is super thin, cooked to perfection, and doesn't taste like it came out of the freezer. From their instagram, they apparently have a special grill just for the gyoza and honestly it shows. The staff all speak Japanese so you know it's authentic. It's a fun friendly vibe and I love taking my friends out to ramen here. read more

Pretty good ramen. I wouldn't say it's anything special above the rest of the ramen spots in Toronto, but the portion was very good and the texture of the noodles was wonderful. It was really busy when we visited, and it was a Monday evening, so prepare to wait in line unless you reserve a table. We actually reserved just 2 hours before the seating time, so you don't need to have 20 20 hindsight and book a table a week in advance just to eat ramen. They did ask us to leave just 1.5 hours after we sat down to make way for the next table, which was a bit surprising as a 2 hour seating would be more reasonable, and we weren't told about any time limit when we sat down. Otherwise the service was praiseworthy and we got our food quite quickly, all at once. Overall I'd recommend and come again, but it's a little bit out of the way unless you live in the Wellesley area so not sure how likely it actually is that I will. read more

My suggestion is to make a reservation before head over. Now, let's talk about the food. They've got some solid ramen and tasty side dishes like fried chicken. It's good stuff, but I wouldn't say it blew me away, especially with all the authentic ramen spots in Toronto. It's kind of like an alternative to Sansotei Ramen, in my opinion. Tried Gyokai Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen. The broth was really salty, and I couldn't really taste the seafood flavour. I would definitely recommend asking for 50% salt if they allow you to adjust. You don't get to choose the noodle thickness. Mine came with thick noodles which is my preference so that's fine. But my friend ordered the hakata tonkatsu ramen and it came with thin noodles. Egg is $2 extra for all ramen. My fav part of the bowl was the pork - which was super tender and had a good proportion of meat to fat. I found a piece of hair in my ramen. My server apologized and brought a new one, and even took off 50% on that dish. I appreciate how the staff handled the situation. This is a review for their frozen ramen: Then COVID hit and Ramen Raijin reinvented the concept of instant ramen. Theirs is a frozen circular disk that literally incorporates everything - the broth, noodles, and various toppings that are a far cry from the rehydrated vegetable fragments. In about the same time it takes to boil water to create the dried version, the frozen disk goes into a pot until it melts and is heated through. And there's no guessing games with Raijin's spicy tonkotsu ramen ($12). The spicy-miso pork broth has enough chili to flood your mouth with flavours, but the fiery finish is subdued, and the miso adds a lovely creamy finish. Perhaps it was all the tightly packed vegetables (corn, slivers of cabbage, bean sprouts, and green onions) and the extra minced chicken mixed into the soup base, but the spicy tonkotsu did take a couple minutes longer to prepare than the non-spicy version so the noodles ended up being a less chewy than the other. The noodles in the Hakata tonkotsu ramen ($10) turned out perfectly and Raijin's Hakata-style rich pork broth was just as creamy and umami laced as anything you'd find at a restaurant. Something about the freezing process makes me like the pickled ginger more, it's mellower and melts into the broth nicely. It's all finished with a rather thin slice of pork belly cha-shu, kikurage mushroom, green onion, and enough sesame to add a nutty finish to the soup. Will the frozen ramen overtake the delivery and takeout options across the city? While close to the "real deal" they are still missing some of the beloved toppings like a gooey onsen egg and the crispy fresh toppings that can make it sing. The additional garnishes are easy - you can easily get a dried seaweed snack pack and finely chop scallions - but the elusive egg is more difficult. Raijin provides a recipe with the order confirmation to allow home cooks to recreate them at home. But all the work for one or two eggs ... let's just call me lazy. To augment the meal, as the lone slice of cha shu isn't the most substantial, Raijin offers extra pork or a host of frozen appetizers, some care of Zakkushi on Carlton just down the street. The yakitori momo ($8.50) goes bag and all into boiling water for five minutes and then you're presented with four skewers of juicy chicken yakitori. The sauce is waterier than the lovely glaze you'll normally find at restaurants, but in a pinch these will do. Before placing an order, ensure your freezer has some room as for deliveries there's a minimum $50 order size (about five ramen) and a $7 delivery fee. If you create that room if your freezer, the delivery fee is waived for a $100 purchase. read more

We are loving their vacuum packed frozen ramens! They deliver with a minimum order and come in cute paper bags with personalized messages written on them. The kids love the Hakata Tonkotsu and I like spice so Spicy Tonkotsu for me. I like how there are a lot more veggies in their ramen than some other ramen places out there. Avoiding restaurants for a year now, we've been craving ramen. It is so handy to pull one out of the freezer and pop it into the pot, turn it onto medium and wait for the deliciousness to thaw and boil. Super easy to make for lunch while working from home! At first we were sceptical that perhaps the noodles would be too soft, but they are just like eating in a restaurant! My friends and I ordered the entire frozen ramen offering from Raijin for our ramen craving and we were very excited to try these out at home. The frozen ramen came with re-heating instructions, without which I would have just boiled the whole thing on super high heat which may have resulted in less than optimal outcome. So read and follow the instructions when reheating your frozen ramen. So far, we have tried Spicy Tonkotsu and Umami Shoyu and really enjoyed both ramen. We reheated our ramen on the stove top, topped them with some bean sprouts and green onions and they were both delicious! Both broth had nice complexity and depth of flavour without being too heavy. I've had ramen from other chains which almost always tend to be too salty for my palate so this was a welcome change (my favourite broth is still Konjiki's pork +clam broth though!) The noodles held up surprisingly well to freezing and reheating and the included toppings were also decent. However, both the chicken chashu and pork shoulder chashu had the texture of previously frozen meat which may be a point of improvement for Raijin. Overall, our experience with the frozen ramen has been a very good one. My friend's feedback of their Spicy Tonkotsu and Hakata Tonkotsu was also great so I think there is a very good chance that we'll be ordering these again when our supply runs out. I find that with a lot of other ramen places there's always too much to finish in one sitting but not really enough to take home, so I try to eat it all in one sitting and feel super bloated afterwards. The egg was cooked perfectly with a slightly runny yolk, and the broth was super flavourful. Wasn't a huge fan of the pickled ginger and was a bit disappointed it didn't come with more pork or a side of nori. The yuzu soda was refreshing and very strong. I wish they had more seating available, they have a large table in the middle that sat a few different parties. Having more smaller tables wouldve been nice. Interesting spot. We're still looking for our goto Ramen spot in Toronto; and despite being the best in Toronto so far, it didn't quite do it for us. It's quite a casual environment. We first wondered why we bothered reserving but it got really busy really quickly. The spicy ramen was tasty, but it lacked elements of taste and richness. The Yuzu Shoyu chicken ramen was an interesting creation, but not a purist's choice. I've added some photos below. In general it's pretty good, but it's not 5 star taste. It's been several years since I've returned to this place (first time post Covid fiasco) & I'm so glad I did. I forgot how much I loved this place after trying dozens of other ramen. I visited twice in one week! I came here on a Thursday night and waited 20 mins for a table of 3 (we didn't make reservations). On Saturday I made reservations for two. It tends to be busy during dinner service but I find the tables open up faster than you think which means service is good. Anyways I ordered the Rich Gyokai tsukemen (dipping style) which was heavenly for me. The whole concept is that your concentrated broth is in a small bowl and your freshly made noodles are in another. You dip your noodles into your broth. This allows maximum control of how much flavour (or sodium haha) you consume. You can soak the noodles a few seconds longer if you want it to absorb more of the broth. You can get the noodles either hot or cold. Both are equally good for me (I tried both). If you're feeling hot, get the cold noodle - it's more refreshing. Anyways, once you're done dipping, you ask them for more broth to pour into your small bowl so that the concentrated version is now diluted and drinkable. So much umami flavour! It comes with diced pork belly but I like to order $2 pork shoulder on the side. I am always extremely full after this meal. The noodles are freshly made because they're not perfectly shaped and are textured which allows them to be coated and hold onto the sauce better. I do wish they were thinner though. My friends and partner ordered the ramen soup version of mine: Gyokai tonkotsu shoyu ramen. They all loved it. I also loved it because I ate from their bowls both times. It's waves of umami with every slurp. They all preferred it over the dipping style because it's more flavour and less work each time. End of the day: the dipping style ramen is more interactive and gives you more control over your food. And the soup ramens are more flavourful with each mouthful as they are already soaked. My partner was so impressed with his ramen that he can't wait to come back. We'd love to try their appetizers. Drinks: yuzu soda (cold version, non alcoholic) and ume blossom cocktail are both tasty.
