They have been doing auto pay on my account for six years now and I've never even called them before. This time was looking for reduce my costs, and called to cancel one of my services. I rent a dumpster and the price has slowly creeped up to $213/mo. I also rent the trash cans and that has slowly creeped up to $93/every OTHER month. I don't need the trash cans, so called to discuss and drop the $93/every other month charges. Well, the lady on the phone told me that they have been charging me for recycling twice. $45 of the $93 is for recycling and $45 of the $213 is recycling. And I haven't been recycling bc they told me with a dumpster I didn't need to. She said someone would call me to talk about credits to my account. Nothing. Called back a week later, had this same conversation. It's been a week now and no one has called me back. This same conversations asked again to have the $93/every other month servicec cancelled, she told me she couldnt' do it, whoever was calling me back would do it. Well, no one called yet again, so I had to do a chargeback with my bank maybe now they will credit my acct propertly. I don't appreciate being promised something then ignored. read more

Giving them 5 stars because they have Tony (Operations Manager) on their team and he is a ROCK STAR (the drivers are also super solid, they have my utmost respect). He understands customer service FAR better than most and is the unequaled problem solver at RDS. All too often the default and easy answer is "no", "sorry, cant help", and endless excuses. Tony (if you're lucky enough to talk to him) talks to you like a friend or a neighbor and finds a way to get the job/reasonable request DONE (and he follows up, **results + communication = WINNING**). In today's customer service environment, that is a rarity. He makes wrongs right and keeps customers HAPPY (and paying). I choose him to represent my glowing opinion of RDS. I was recently injured on their premises and have been in and out of the ER with a staf infection from negligence from their staffs. At this point it feels like they are trying to ignore me. I've called multiple of times. Been down to speak with people and was greeted with the biggest smile and was told I will message the person you need to talk to now and proceeded to message somone .. that person, I dont know whom.... eveytime I call them they tell me they will call me back. They used to work with us and if we paid a year in advance would give one month free. This year, they were just rude and said, too bad, prices have gone up 25% per month and we don't really care. We have lives in Ramona over 30 years, have always used Ramona Disposal Service and they have never disappointed. They even take one large item a quarter if you prearrange the pick up. We have had off road pick-up service, dumpster service and used their recycling center over the years and in every instance they are responsive and reliable. Our fees have only risen slightly over the 30 years and I thought they started out as an excellent value. I've never considered switching to another service. read more

I had one bag of household trash after spending 3 days in Julian and needed to dump it. Went to the only game in town and was told it should be 60.00 but will give me a deal at 30.00. Do I look that stupid. Went to the office and I was told that it would be twice that amount in New York. We aren't in New York and if you aren't part of Californias solution these guys are definitely part of there problem. No wonder people throw their trash on the side of the road. Well, who would imagine I'd be excited about giving a disposal service 5 stars? The folks are GREAT! When I called to start up service, I talked to a real person. Yes, a real person, Patrick (super nice & helpful guy) who explained that a dumpster that was left by the previous owner was paid up for another month and he explained all the associated details to me. When I emailed Patrick to inquire about bulky item pickup, I got a quick reply about how that works. As I recall, at the time I called, the first item was free each quarter and each additional was only $15. What a deal! My husband has been going to their transfer station (i.e., dump) and dealing with our e-waste and hazardous waste and said that RDS really has it together. They have the efficiency of a large business with the personal touch of a small/family-run business. Best of both worlds! read more

She didn't say let me check. She didn't say oh let me check his route. She said no problem I have that canceled for u. Then she calls me later to let me know the garbage man took it upon himself to throw out all our wood that we had because he thought it was trash (are they even supposed to get out of their truck?!) and she wanted to charge me for his and her mistake. Wood that we were donating to church. No one tried to call me. They just did it and expected me to pay. I will be reporting this with the bbb and demanding a full credit if they try to charge me for this foolishness. Their manager Susan is the queen of passive aggression and pettiness and has poor people skills. When I ordered the service She explained to me that he would empty my bin drive away for 15 minutes and come back after we filled it back up. The "manager" explained this. We had to cancel cuz of an airport run and we're told it was canceled and the driver threw away my things whichI understand he tried to do the right thing but it's like does the office have the ability to call a driver?! Ramona disposal is in a league of their own she told me at least 5x "we can't give away free dumps" it's like lady I've spend THOUSANDS of dollars with your company, if there is a handful of mistakes on your part, offering compensation is not giving away free dumps. I called up needing to dispose of some used automotive coolant. They told me what to do to schedule a pickup (call 877 713 2784), it is at their facility, but by apointment only. Very friendly, very helpful. And as a bonus, I was told I could drop off some household batteries I had been saving to recycle (AA, AAA, C, D, etc) and a old water heater at no cost (I am a RDS customer so make sure to call first otherwise there may be a fee for that). Also I have worked in customer service before, and sometimes it IS okay to hang up on a customer, it depends on the situation, but sometimes you can only do so much to help someone and they just want to vent, or want the impossible! I was told Jaime was on the phone for over 35 minutes and did everything she could to try to help, but the call had reached the point where nothing more productive could be done. Sadly this happens sometimes, even to the best customer service representatives. From what I have seen the RDS people are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help even the most demanding customers. read more

I'm very upset as today this is the 4th time in 2 months that our driver refused to pick up our recycling because someone on the street parked too close. We live on a busy street and we cannot change the curbs although we have tried with the city and the county. The guy just needs to get his ass out of the truck. God forbid he do his job! I know it sucks but it's out of our control where the public parks and we are paying customers. Typically he throws a tantrum and we find our barrel thrown in the middle of the street with wheels missing or a hole in it. This is bull crap! read more

Really lazy. I ordered a dumpster and they didn't pick it up because it was at the top of my driveway instead of the bottom. It's a 10 foot walk. They said it was too heavy. That's funny cause I'm a girl and had no problem pushing it the ten feet to the bottom of the driveway. They just drove off instead of walking to the door to ask me to push it to the bottom. I can't imagine this company getting any bad reviews. I used their service for over 9 years, and every part of their service was top notch. From their prices, to Jaime on the phones, to the delivery and pickups. They always tried to accommodate any request we had. Our delivery driver was always careful of our animals running loose on the property, and very respectful. After moving out of their service area, it makes me sad to deal with the large green and yellow company that allows their drivers to disrespect customers and damage property. I am writing this because I miss my Ramona Disposal so badly. I have told many people over the past 10 years, this is notably one of the best companies I have done business with. read more

I rushed in today to drop off two garbage cans of trash and a few assorted bags. It was a few minutes before closing. RDS has a problem with consistency. Their website cites hours til 5pm and their gate indicates 4:30Pm (issue Numero Uno. As I drove up an RDS employee said I could deposit the trash and the fee would be $37. and that they would send me a receipt tomorrow because the office was closed. After I offl-oaded everything another staff member approached me and requested $42. Nope i was quoted $37, I quipped...long story short the office guy appeared and indicated that $42 was the number and said there was no one in a truck...effectively saying I was making stuff up.. I don't mind being wrong but I dont like being called a liar. So I backed the truck up and said if they wanted to load it back up they were welcome to do that. I want to note that this was a really nasty load of rotten food. They loaded everything back up...i folded the $37 buck up and went on my marry way....toodles. read more

RDS is a great company, with great rates! They saved me money, when a representative came out and analyzed my trash! He said about 80% of what I had could be recycled ( for free) and we should get a much smaller trash bin. I am very thankful. Now that we switched from a company that doesn't recycle to a company that does, we are helping our Earth, going green, using a local service to help our community and saving money.
