I had asked for a bill several times so I would know what to expect and he kept putting me off. When I finally got a bill it was for this ridiculous amount like $21000.00 dollars. I went over the bill with a fine tooth comb to see what had been done and why it was so expensive. I caught him padding the bill and putting things on the bill like waterproofing and sealing my basement that wasn't done. Wow. That's illegal! And called theft of services. So I had to report him to the homeowners contractors board. They said that they require a signed contract. He wouldn't give me one so that right there says it all. I didn't have to pay him a thing. But I'm not a thief so I did pay him for 3000.00 dollars of things he had done already. Even though it was super shoddy work. They didn't even put a brace behind the dry wall while they had it down for the shower door so that had to be replaced. He is doing seriously shady things besides 1) not showing up when he says they will 2) doing the bare minimum and lying about what they did. 3) not nice to women. Kept insisting to talk with my husband. Like women can't handle business affairs of the house. 4) wont return phone calls 5) charges 10% for profit and 10% for overhead without telling you in advance. (I can call a plumber for 20% of the total price.) 6) leaving horrible messes. Boxes and sheet rocks dust and paste everywhere. 7) added 1000.00 onto a shower that his sisters company was doing for us. 8) you discuss something and when he leaves the house it's out of his head. I had to remind him several times about things we discussed and he would say I done remember that or lie and say we didn't discuss that. All those things added to him illegally putting things on the bill that they had not done at all, they are a huge NO NO. I wouldnt recommend him to my worst enemy. Plus his sister owns dumas flooring and when I sent him a revised bill for things that they had done and that I was willing to pay for then she started trying to collect for him even though they are separate. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I hope they pull the owners license because Mr D Dumas shouldn't be operating at all.

In Nov 2020, they removed my cabinets and countertops, citing a 3 week job. In April 2021, I still didn't have a kitchen. They left my home in a disaster, exhibited poor quality workmanship, and did not honor quoted prices, even marking up materials from the "big box" stores, which I offered to buy myself. Word to the wise: be sure to get everything in writing before you let them begin work should you choose to work with this company. Lots of lessons learned throughout this process. But finally have my home back in working order after having a reputable company come in to replace all door jambs after they were sawed off 1", have my stone fireplace rebuilt (since they only caulked it back together), and repainted all baseboards since they were spot painted (with the wrong color)- none of which were the actual jobs SPC were hired to complete, just $4K of damage they did during the process of correcting my home.
