During the day my coworkers wound me up about this place. When I got home I told my wife, I'm going, please join me. When we arrived the outside was okay (strip mall-ish); however, whoever designed the inside did a great job!!! I was REALLY excited to taste their food as the pictures looked great! We were sat quickly; however, no one ever came over, at least to let us know if they were having an issue with the staff or the kitchen. After 14 minutes of being ignored, we reluctantly left. Years ago this establishment was on point. I would solely go there for the keto almond flour tacos and the great customer service. Last time I went the "keto" tortillas were the cheap white flour carb smart ones. Not the actual gluten free almond flour ones they had for years. That was disappointing then you add the waitress who never came to check on our table. I asked several times about the frijoles they typically serve you after your order has been placed. They were never served, I had to walk up to the bar and ask someone for refills as well as the frijoles. We misread the menu and expected the Breakfast Potato to be a standard scrambled egg plate with a side of hash browns. Instead, we were surprised when a massive baked potato arrived, overflowing with scrambled eggs, juicy bacon and a serving of sliced avocado. A unexpected twist. The French Toast was topped with fresh strawberries and walnuts. It was cooked to perfection. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a lovely bartender by the name of Anita. She checked on me frequently. Loved the music they had playing in the background. They had a plethora of tequila bottles some bottles never heard of. Hence the name of the place. ordered the shrimp cocktail (small) and guacamole with chips. Not enough shrimp. Half of the cup had diced tomatoes. Not balanced with the shrimp. Guacamole did not have any seasoning. So I won't be ordering that again. Next time I will try something else. The food at this restaurant was so delicious we went back two days in a row! So I truly appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine and I was pleasantly impressed here. The drink menu is superb and will satisfy any desire for crafted libations you may have. Maybe because I'd never had charro beans and lonches? I don't know but it's addictive. The charro beans are served as an appetizer almost, coming out moments before your main entree arrives. The charro beans are like a hug in a bowl from your favorite abuela. I can't seem to get enough and even had the serious thought of moving to the border just for the food. The first night I ordered lonches for dinner, half bistec half pastor. The bread is so simple yet difficult to describe. It's a mix between a hot dog bun and brioche. It's the perfect way to deliver juicy meats and cabbage and cilantro and red onions and queso fresco and avocado to your mouth. My mouth and stomach were extremely happy. The second night I got the ribeye tacos and I don't think I spoke much during that feeding. The rice is good, the portions are just right. I would be in trouble if I lived in the neighborhood. Also, the restaurant decor is absolutely gorgeous, they have live music a few nights a week, they handle massive Texas sized parties with no problem. Unfortunately, if you're planning to enjoy karaoke night, be prepared for an unusual and frustrating RULE: apparently, from my own personal experience-you're not allowed to get up from your seat while you're singing. On two separate evenings, the bouncer actually scolded me in front of customers to "stay in my area and sit down." The whole point of karaoke is to have fun, move around, and engage with the crowd if given the chance -- being told to sit still completely kills the vibe. It's obvious the bar owner's intentions might be good, maybe trying to keep things organized, but the application of this rule is ridiculous still. This isn't an upscale lounge or a Vegas stage -- it's literally a taco bar that offers karaoke nights for teens. If you're a true karaoke lover, this place will likely disappoint you. The atmosphere feels stifled, not fun. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. For a real karaoke experience where you can actually enjoy yourself, GO TO MIKEY'S PIZZA AND SHOTS in Harlingen instead! read more

Visiting family in Harlingen for the weekend and we told them we wanted to try somewhere really yummy with lonches on the menu. They suggested Ramses and it didn't disappoint! The lonches were just one of the MANY delicious food options on the menu! First time trying this place out. I'm not much of into alcoholic beverages but if I were , I feel like this place would provide a palatable drink. Went during lunch. I tried the taco bomba with no onions. They were really good. Small sized but very good and fulfilling since it came with a side of rice, which was great as well. They provided a side of beans and salsa as well. It's a small location and can see how it might be busy at times. The staff was friendly and attentive. Tried this place randomly and we were not disappointed. We were seated right away even though it was a full house. Guac had no flavor (no salt or lemon). Staff was rude- doesn't greet or say thank you even when tipped. The also rudely hung up after calling to say the order was ready.
