Taqueria Jalisco might be a place that you easily look over, but the tacos here are worthy of a visit. 6 tacos are priced at about $7 and it comes with a small bowl of beans. I was able to split my taco order and have 3 chicken and 3 beef. The corn tortillas were tasty and managed to hold the meat well enough for me to devour everything within a couple of bites. I'd recommend playing around with the two salsa options to give your tastebuds a ride. Enjoy!

If you're looking for some great authentic Mexican food, make a stop here, and it's a place to get Mexican Coke cola. Just a simple menu but good so worth it in this little place. Tacos were excellent, a great choice after the bean soup.

We came here because we were anxious to try their lonches. The bread was nice and soft with a delightfully toasty exterior, but the meat was bland and the toppings (tomato, avocado and shredded iceberg lettuce) didn't really add much. The lemonade tasted powdered instead of fresh-squeezed like other tacquerias that we frequent and the charro beans had lots of big, fatty pieces that you had to work around. The menu pictures looked great and the prices were very reasonable so maybe it was just what we ordered. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here, but I might try it again if I happen to be in the area.

Lounches (bistek) with handmade/cut chips and warm salsa. Sauces are excellent.

Great place for a quick served meal. Service was good despite me not being able to speak fluent Spanish and the staff the same with English, but we got by just fine. Had to try the much-reviewed lounches (like Street Tortas) this time out - they were good. Tacos are great. Sauces are excellent. Handmade/cut chips and warm salsa are a few dollars extra but worth it. Charro beans served as an appetizer are good. I always want to eat here at least once while in town.

REVIEWING: Lonches This is a hole in the wall restaurant that serves up your typical taqueria menu except for this particular item - lonches. For some reason, I've never seen this item on the menu before no matter how many taquerias I've been to. And for this reason, I decided to hit up this place before leaving Harlingen. The restaurant itself is small but cozy with parking on the side. LONCHES: This is a refreshing twist on the mini tacos or taquitos. Think about the fillings of the mini taco but instead stuffed into a small french bread. The dish comes with 4 and you can choose from the following meats: bisteck, fajita, and trompo. I ordered 1/2 bisteck and 1/2 trompo. The bread itself was delicious and soft as well as the sauce. My only complaints are that the meat was on the dry side and my sliced avocados on top seemed a little old. The red and green sauce are spicy! This is a good option for something a little different from what you're used to and definitely recommend trying it once! Service is very friendly!

Food look delicious but someone buy the cooks some seasoning to add to the food. By the way the beans are served cooked. DO NOT STOP HERE

The beans served old. The tacos have no seasoning. Fast food restaurants are better than this.

Everything was delicious today. The fajita tacos were fresh, hot and very tasty and the fajita tender. The loches were super. Last time i mentioned to the staff that the bread for the lonches wad very dry. They really listened because today the bread was lightly toasted on the outside and glistening and the lonches de bistek were wonderful. They were filled with bistek , shredded cabbage, tomato and avocado slices. Best lonches ever. The chicken flautas are served piping hot and the chicken is fresh. The corn tortilla is light and crunchy and the chicken moist and delicious served wirlth sour cream for dipping and shredded lettuce and tomato on the side. Great food. Charro beans are delicious. And don't forget the mexican coca colas.

This place has good - cheap food. A great place to enjoy a delicious taco after an evening of drinking with old friends.

Good place to stop for a quick bite. It's the next best taking if you can't make it to Mexico to get lonches.

I've been eating here since 1970 when menu was written daily on a small blackboard on the wall and plate lunches were $1.25, drink included. I left the area in '84 but have returned frequently ever since. Las Vegas is always my first stop, and last night was no different, meeting up with ten family members for dinner. Our server, Elizabeth, was superb. When I saw the menu, I was concerned. It was six or eight pages, with dishes I never expected to see here. But I understand why, even though my first thought was, "I hope they haven't messed with the traditional dishes." I've always maintained the cheese enchiladas here are among the three or four finest in the world, if not THE finest. That's what I always order. I also ordered panchos and guacamole. My wife ordered beef enchiladas. The guacamole was very good. The nice thing about LVC is they don't use much (if any) cilantro. This stuff ruins guacamole. Their homemade chips are beyond incredible and so is the salsa. The panchos were terrible. Way too much cheese. Ratios are important. The refried beans and rice were very dry. And finally, the cheese enchiladas. They were not good. There was very little gravy (this is what makes them so good) at all, and the gravy wasn't right. They have changed the recipe. There was also way too much cheese on top. Ratios are important. The medium (soft, medium or crispy taco shell) ground beef taco was perfect. My wife said her enchiladas were also disappointingly dry with bland gravy. I ate the taco and about half the rice, beans and enchiladas. I paid what might be my final tab here, and picked up everyone else's check. 56 years ago, I paid less than two bucks out the door. Last night's tab was over $250 with tip. Times have changed. Unfortunately, so has their food. The women's restroom was repulsive. I won't go into detail about the trash can.

The waiter was very over the top friendly and pushy which made us feel like we were dealing with a used car salesman. When we mentioned we were there for Happy Hour the friendliness then turned to dismissive as he told us we would need to sit at the bar for that. We were sitting at a table next to the bar and the bar was all high tops. Again, NO ONE else was there. I asked if there was any low top seating that would count as sitting at the bar due to having a condition that would make it painful to sit on a barstool. He unapologetically stated "No". I was not going to pay more for my food and drink due to geography, so I stood at the bar. As we looked over the menu the bartender, host, and waiter stood at the end of the bar talking and gossiping. It seemed very unprofessional since we were the only ones there and we could hear their entire conversation. The bartender was very friendly. We ordered the bowl of queso and the bartender asked if we wanted it loaded and we told her no. We also ordered the bistec and chicken tacos with no pico de gallo. When the queso came out it was a small cup full of what looked like onions, but probably pico de gallo. We told the bartender we ordered the bowl and did not want the pico. She took it back and then gave us another small bowl and it was topped with meat. She could tell we were not happy and asked if everything was okay, so we explained we had ordered the bowl, not cup and just wanted plain queso, but at this point we told her it was fine. When the tacos arrived the bistec were covered in raw onions. This was not listed on the menu and not something either of us wanted which is why we said no pico. We sent those back as well but told her we did not want them replaced. We split the chicken tacos and were not impressed so we didn't order anything else.
