Great food & holds true to expectations! Decent prices considering how expensive everything is now ... (prices went up)but for obvious reasons. I usually order pick up or drive through but service seems to be very well carried out as well as managed. If you're in a hurry order ahead, it's not exactly fast food,I don't particularly enjoy dining in as the ambiance is not as comforting as the food. Please tip your servers ! read more

Came in for a late lunch and thought the place was brilliant. It's not a new place all shiny & pristine. It's the classic taqueria with just kick you in the butt good food. The menu isn't big, but the flavors are. I had the four tacos and almost wept I enjoyed it so much. The meal came with two ketchup bottles of salsas: Red Hot and Yellow Hot. The small bowl of limes was brilliant and a great add to the tacos. There was also a small bowl of the most sublime charro/pinto beans. I could have stopped there. The tortillas on the tacos & the grilled onions made it an absolutely special meal. Finally, the side was a loaded baked potato! Unique and it was a brilliant taste. Taqueria Jalisco might be a place that you easily look over, but the tacos here are worthy of a visit. 6 tacos are priced at about $7 and it comes with a small bowl of beans. I was able to split my taco order and have 3 chicken and 3 beef. The corn tortillas were tasty and managed to hold the meat well enough for me to devour everything within a couple of bites. We came here because we were anxious to try their lonches. The bread was nice and soft with a delightfully toasty exterior, but the meat was bland and the toppings (tomato, avocado and shredded iceberg lettuce) didn't really add much. The lemonade tasted powdered instead of fresh-squeezed like other tacquerias that we frequent and the charro beans had lots of big, fatty pieces that you had to work around. The menu pictures looked great and the prices were very reasonable so maybe it was just what we ordered. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here, but I might try it again if I happen to be in the area. read more

Great place for a quick served meal. Service was good despite me not being able to speak fluent Spanish and the staff the same with English, but we got by just fine. Had to try the much-reviewed lounches (like Street Tortas) this time out - they were good. Tacos are great. Sauces are excellent. Handmade/cut chips and warm salsa are a few dollars extra but worth it. Charro beans served as an appetizer are good. I always want to eat here at least once while in town. read more

REVIEWING: Lonches This is a hole in the wall restaurant that serves up your typical taqueria menu except for this particular item - lonches. For some reason, I've never seen this item on the menu before no matter how many taquerias I've been to. And for this reason, I decided to hit up this place before leaving Harlingen. The restaurant itself is small but cozy with parking on the side. LONCHES: This is a refreshing twist on the mini tacos or taquitos. Think about the fillings of the mini taco but instead stuffed into a small french bread. The dish comes with 4 and you can choose from the following meats: bisteck, fajita, and trompo. I ordered 1/2 bisteck and 1/2 trompo. The bread itself was delicious and soft as well as the sauce. My only complaints are that the meat was on the dry side and my sliced avocados on top seemed a little old. The red and green sauce are spicy! This is a good option for something a little different from what you're used to and definitely recommend trying it once! Service is very friendly! read more

Everything was delicious today. The fajita tacos were fresh, hot and very tasty and the fajita tender. The loches were super. Last time i mentioned to the staff that the bread for the lonches wad very dry. They really listened because today the bread was lightly toasted on the outside and glistening and the lonches de bistek were wonderful. They were filled with bistek , shredded cabbage, tomato and avocado slices. Best lonches ever. The chicken flautas are served piping hot and the chicken is fresh. The corn tortilla is light and crunchy and the chicken moist and delicious served wirlth sour cream for dipping and shredded lettuce and tomato on the side. Great food. Charro beans are delicious. Not a lot of places in the valley you can get lonches at anytime most have only tacos and while I love a good taco I appreciate when I get lonches. There's just something about those tiny breads. I had there Plato loco the other day and it was pretty good everything had great flavor and I still got one lonche!! Not to mention the prices are also unbeatable a whole combo under 7 bucks w a coke, frijoles and papa. Sign me up. My favorite location has the nicest waitresses and agua de jamaica. read more

Stopped by for a late night snack around 9:30 even though it was late the service was as any "open" restaurant is soppoused to be unfortunately not many restaurants treat you the same later on in the day had the combo especial which is a very generous portion it comes with a baked potato complementary beans and a drink which were all very tasty also had the tacos with tripa and trompo which were incredibly delicious clearly authentic mexican tacos the only thing is that place and bathrooms are kind of run down. The food the dish out at this place is very delicious. I usually order the flour tacos de tripa, they always start you off with a small bowl of beans and the tripa is always well cooked. The beverage list consists of sodas and Mexican coke, teas and lemonades. I can honesty say this is the best place for tacos & lonches in Harlingen. read more

Very good find when visiting from San Antonio. This hole in the wall provides quality eats at a reasonable price. Only down fall was they used pre-sweetened instant Lipton tea. Otherwise everything was on point. We ordered taquitos de fajita and tripas, both cooked just right including the tripas which are most often over cooked. Flautas (chicken) were tasty even though the chicken was a bit dry. We also had lonches, something new. Think size of taquitos but in the form of a torta. Soft bread tasty meat, fajita and chicken fajita... only downside to that was the small portion of meat in each of them. The taquitos, tortas and flautas all had plenty of meat. read more

Not bad at all. Of all the mexican options in the area, this one stands out because their lonches are really good! It's a refreshing change from mini tacos, and this was actually the first place I have ever tried them. I love the bread, it's extremely soft but holds up well to the fillings. It tastes kinda like a mix between a hot dog bun and a sweet Hawaiian roll, if you can imagine that. Unfortunately, the interior of the lonches can be a bit bland. I got the bistec and I was kinda underwhelmed by the overall taste. It was good, but not great. I wish there was more meat, or at least more something. It comes out to be pretty cheap, but it's not that great of a deal considering that even 6 lonches is not THAT much food. The ingredients seem pretty cheap, so I feel like they could do better. I'd like to come back and try other food here at some point, maybe the fajita tacos, which look good. read more
