My husband recently ran a 5K here and was excited to show me the park. It was my first time and I was impressed by the cleanliness, plentiful seating and children's playground. This is a nice park to take kids to for something to do. They had signs saying you shouldn't enter the water in certain places, but people seemed to ignore those. Lots of laughs and splashing heard as we walked around. :) They have several restrooms which were pretty clean for the most part also, which was a good thing. Parking is plentiful, but how close you can park depends on how crowded it is. We were initially directed to an overflow lot but just as we got out of the car, some spaces opened up in the main lot so we were able to move. I believe you can also get on a chartered boat here to go on Lake Norman. Nice place, we will return. read more

Ramsey Creek Park is a really nice park in the Cornelius area. There are a plethora of things to do at this park. Whether you are a dog owner, have children, like to walk/jog, partake in fitness activities or water activities, Ramsey Creek Park is the way to go! There is literally something for everyone! It is located in Cornelius, off of Nantz Road. Upon entering the park, you will find a variety of parking areas, some closer or further away from the water. Any parking area you choose will be a great walk to whatever activity you want to partake in. With that in view, there is plenty of parking available at just about anytime of the day. There are multiple trails available within the park, some that loop around back to the start, and some that cross over the main road within the park putting you on connected trails on the other side. Some trails are a little bit more rugged, whereas other trails are somewhat paved and not so rugged. There are tons of grilling stations, along with bench/table seating areas, for those that wish to grill out and have a great day. Plenty of restrooms are also available. During the summer, these areas are normally packed with people, enjoying the summer fun! Additionally, Ramsey Creek Park has a boat ramp from which you can leave/return or make a pitstop from another location on the water. Ramsey Creek Park is really a great destination, a hidden gem, in the Cornelius area! I've been touring the parks in north Mecklenburg today and Ramsey Creek is definitely the highlight. It is a large park and unlike the nearby Jetton, includes a sand beach and a boat launch. Ramsey Creek Park has two fenced in dog parks, one for larger and one for smaller. The parking for them could be closer to the entrances but it is what it is. The gated areas are double gated so that you can leash up remove leashes safely. There are a number of requirements for dogs to use the park including current vaccinations and such. Playgrounds, picnic areas, lots of walking trails. It's a big park! The beach is closed for the winter and there was no cost to enter the park today. [Review 12644 overall, 2436 of 2019.] read more

Heard so much about this place we added to our collection of places to see. Arrived and they didn't have the bees under control. Not just Radom bees in nature no these were in the way of trying to enjoy the lake. There is also rocks in the swim area which is really uncomfortable. Beautiful park on Lake Norman. We stopped here on our drive from Ashville to Charlotte, NC. The beach closed on Labor Day but the park is still open. We saw folks kayaking in late September. read more

This is a nice park located in Cornelius. The park includes a large dog park near the front entrance. I have never seen more than a few dogs in there at once but they were having fun. The park also has walking paths, a beach area, and a boat launching pad. There is also a playground for the kids. I enjoy visiting Ramsey Creek Park for the annual Asian Festival and the Duck Boat races. I am giving the park 4/5 stars because when events are scheduled, parking is awful. There isn't enough of it. Be warned! Also, there may be a $5 county resident fee, $2 senior (55+) fee and a bit more for non-residents on days when a lifeguard is present. The small fee is to offset the cost of your safety in the water. read more

We really wanted to see lake Norman and this was the place to do just that! It has a small beach ( closed due to Covid presently) and a playground that has a zip line!! There are nature trails and a beautiful dock to fish off of. I'm so glad my family found this little hidden gem! Check it out you won't be sorry! read more

It's summertime and everyone wants to go to the beach.. Ramsey creek brings beach feel near to carolians. It was my first time visit on Sunday and we all loved it. The white sand and clear water gives you the beach feel.. As the water level for swimming is not much deep, so it's good for kids and babies. My 18 months daughter enjoyed the most. The under 20 lb dog part was a very small fraction that of the large dog part. I looked at Google reviews before I went into the large dog park and it doesn't speak well of the larger dogs and people not watching their dogs so I didn't go in. Also there is no swimming inside either one. You have to walk your dog down to the water. read more

Ugh, where to start.... First the park staff were all very rude. It started with parking, we pulled up and the lady said the parking lot was full and then she added "well I let the lady in front of you go because she has a accessible plate". I informed the lady that I had a handicap placard and she got an attitude with me and snapped "where is it?!" I pulled it out of my pocketbook and she got rude yet again and told me it had to be in my window (I don't drive with it in my window and this was our first time here). When we parked, I specifically asked a park ranger where I can take both my kids and my dog to swim. They point to a little clearing and say that is a great place where alot of people take their dog swimming. We get the clearing and another park ranger pulls up and tells us to get out and we're not allowed in the water and neither is the dog. I tried explaining to this man that we were literally just told by 2 different park rangers that we could take our dog swimming there. He doesn't even listen to me and says yall can't swim here and neither can the dog and drives off. As we were walking away he pulls back up and then tells us the dog CAN go in the water, but she has to be on a 6ft leash, the leash has to be held at all times and the person holding the leash CANNOT go into the water. So basically the dogs can get their feet wet and not swim. So we trekked up to the dog park just to realize no child under 12 is allowed in the dog park. So there is LITERALLY NOTHING in this park to do with both your dog and kids, other than walk. Save your money, this place is extremely over crowded, the park workers are just plain rude and obviously not on the same page, and to be honest it was kind of nasty. Throughout our walk there was trash EVERYWHERE. We drove 2 hours to this park and also called beforehand to verify both the kids and the dog could swim in the same area. Will not be back, would not reccomend and overall worse experience I've EVER had with a park... read more

Parking for non Mecklenburg county residents is $15, but they do also offer a free shuttle option which I would probably do next time. It does well with resembling a beach, and the sand is easy to get off which is a plus! The only cons I have is that when I got there I expected it to be a wider perimeter for swimming, and also they had rocks at the bottom that were really rough on the feet. This was our first time going and we found it to be a Great Sunday outing! We brought a picnic from Subway and our beach tent and camping chairs and enjoyed ourselves for a few hours. It's after Labor Day so the nicer beach was closed, but it was also free to get in (I read that when the nice beach is open there's 'per car' admission). The best thing about Ramsey Creek Park for me is the fact it offers public boating access to Lake Norman. The 43-acre park is part of the Mecklenburg Parks & Recreation Department and sports three access ramps. For a lake that is, unfortunately, largely privatized, this kind of public access is in short supply. The parking lots are huge and there is plenty of room to park trucks and trailers. Ramsey Creek also offers public bathrooms, playground, volleyball court, nature trails, two horseshoe pits, fishing pier and a large waterfront picnic area with huge umbrellas that can be reserved for parties. First time Visit. I'm obsessed with my 8month old German Shepherd! He's super friendly, very chill and never bothers anyone. Summer is here!!! I decided bring my dog to the park. I never come to Lake Norman. It's about 20mins from my side of town. My pup enjoyed site seeing from his dog hammock. There's a parking fee of $3. Security is tight here! Yes you car will be safe. The park is dog friendly. However, pets aren't allowed in the water (bummer). The small beach (whatever you call it) isn't worth it. A bit crowded. Your better off going to an "actual beach". There are a few picnic tables for small families/gatherings. I can't remember if I saw any grills. We rested under the trees watching the boats go by. What can I say the weather was beautiful. Overall I don't plan to come back. Hahahhahahahha, maybe if I want to cruise on my boat round the lake. I can grill at home, or drive to an actual beach. Just saying. read more

This is the nicest park I've been to in the Mecklenburg County area. There is a lake in the middle of the park!? There are also umbrellas and benches for you to sit right by the lake. This place is perfect to bring your dogs and kids. There are also multiple playgrounds, and very clean public bathroom(for park standards). Ample spaces for parking. I would definitely come here way more often if it was closer to Charlotte. Oh, Birkdale Village is nearby so after the park, drive over for a nice lunch! read more

I was sooo stocked to find out we had a man made beach in our backyard. Going up 77north into Huntersville and it's about 8-10 mins off the highway. Parking as well as admission was affordable due to us being Mecklenburg residence ($5.00). We were excited to see so many options also within the park (dog park, walking trail, boating dock) which we plan on taking advantage of in the future. Now the beach has the right concept, filled with lifeguards however the actual space of the beach including the water is pretty limited. This would perfect for smaller kids bc the depth of the water is probably 1.5 feet deep. However we lounged in the sand and enjoyed the sun. No need in wasting the day. read more

Kayaks + Grill + Yummy Foods + Fireworks on the Lake = Perfect July 4th! A bunch of friends rented an umbrella for July 4th and the space was only $26! Great deal, I say :) There was a good crowd, but not overly saturated. Most people were probably at the beach or out of town. The space was right by the lake so we had a great view. It was excruciatingly hot, but nonetheless, enjoyable. I recommend putting water on top of your list. Nothing like having tables filled with salty/spicy food and running out of water (especially when you're surrounded by water you can't drink!) I also recommend bringing some towels/table cloths to lay out on the grass (and under the SHADE).. very relaxing! I ate way too much, like everyone else on July 4th lol, so it was nice to just lounge around. read more

Came here with my mother for a few hours on a Saturday morning/afternoon (arrived at 10:30 left around 2). We paid $10 to park because we were Mecklenburg residence. Thought I read somewhere it was $3 to park but maybe weekends it is higher. Park is beautiful as well as the beach. Super Excited to write this review. Meck Cty has public swimming for the 1st time in 40 years. Arriving at 11:30 on the 1st full day out of school for the whole county, the place was packed. Here are my "LOVE IT's" * Gatekeepers were all Smiles. Entry Fee is by carload and not by Person. * Parking Attendants were helpful and friendly, same for the Life Guards, and every single other person we encountered. * All bathrooms had 2 very noticeable things: a Male/Female sign (Unisex), and a Lock. If you get to the restroom and it is unlocked, you get to use it! If it is locked, you wait. Way to Dodge that one Meck Cty! Kuddos! * People of all races were scattered across the beach. Kids played, parents chatted, it was beautiful. * 3 very attentive Life Guards watched over the Beach (Thank You!) * Complementary Sunscreen was available, similar to Hand Sanitizer dispensers, 30 SPF (which I used and was grateful for) * Fishing access was right around the corner, and again, we were met with more friendly faces. I didn't cast because my fishing license was expired from last season, but my 9 year old had a great time. I am not sure if a license is required for the pier or coves, so it may be worth checking on from the looks of the bass we saw. Anna, the coordinator for the Beach, shared some things about why they chose the pebbles for the Beach area "sand kept washing away and they needed something that wouldn't leave swimmers Orange from the NC red clay" If you have stability issues or sensitive feet, maybe you could try the water shoes? Also, as newcomers from the surrounding areas enter the formerly quiet area, please be courteous of the residents. Parking areas are designated, private lawns are inconsiderate. Take your trash, this shouldn't need to be said. You may Swim IN, but don't plan to Swim OUT. You will need to get back to your boat by the Boat Dock or walking/driving. That's a safety/liability thing for the Park. Canoes, kayaks and paddle boats are welcomed at the Boat Docks, with the understanding that Larger vessels have the Right of Way. Over all, we LOVED it! We are grateful to finally have a place to go and enjoy our families for the day. read more

My husband and I took our son here today. We read reviews before going and saw they were mixed. The fact that so many people complained about the "painful rocks" is rather obnoxious. Yes they existed, but seriously, grow a pair. It was a nice small beach to bring our kid. I also read complaints about the size, but it was perfectly sized, in my opinion. Didn't have to worry about my son disappearing from my sight. We had a really nice day. The only drawback is when we pulled in, the sign said the beach was closed. I'm glad we drove in anyway, because it wasn't. Still a five star review, but maybe update your sign so people don't turn around and don't get to enjoy this beautiful little beach. read more

This is a nice place to launch a boat. Don't miss your turn because it's hell turning around in the residential area past the entrance if you are towing a boat. Four concrete boat launches to choose from but be careful because the water is not very deep. A resident told us that sometimes Duke Energy will close the launch if the water is too low. The bathrooms leave a little to be desired. They remind me of porta-potties even though they are permanent buildings. I don't recommend using them as changing rooms. This is a good public ramp. We can't wait to come back next year during the summer! read more

This park is horrible.. expecting to be able to sit on the sand and go In the water.. only a small (very small portion is sand (about 30 ft across and there no place to really sit because the area is soo tiny it can only hold a few families and you can only go about 12 ft into the water because it blocked off from going further. And it cost $15 to get in.. I was there 5 minutes before we turned around and went somewhere else.. don't waste your money going there because you will NOT have fun!!!!! read more
