    Ramsey Creek Park, Cornelius NC
    Bruce K.

I've been touring the parks in north Mecklenburg today and Ramsey Creek is definitely the highlight. It is a large park and unlike the nearby Jetton, includes a sand beach and a boat launch. Ramsey Creek Park has two fenced in dog parks, one for larger and one for smaller. The parking for them could be closer to the entrances but it is what it is. The gated areas are double gated so that you can leash up remove leashes safely. There are a number of requirements for dogs to use the park including current vaccinations and such. Playgrounds, picnic areas, lots of walking trails. It's a big park! The beach is closed for the winter and there was no cost to enter the park today. [Review 12644 overall, 2436 of 2019.]

Heard so much about this place we added to our collection of places to see. Arrived and they didn't have the bees under control. Not just Radom bees in nature no these were in the way of trying to enjoy the lake. There is also rocks in the swim area which is really uncomfortable. Nice scenery though for a relaxing time off the water.

Beautiful park on Lake Norman. We stopped here on our drive from Ashville to Charlotte, NC. The beach closed on Labor Day but the park is still open. We saw folks kayaking in late September.

We really wanted to see lake Norman and this was the place to do just that! It has a small beach ( closed due to Covid presently) and a playground that has a zip line!! There are nature trails and a beautiful dock to fish off of. I'm so glad my family found this little hidden gem! Check it out you won't be sorry!

Great place to visit. It has two dog park areas. One for small dogs and one for larger dogs. My dog loves it! Nice fishing areas. The playground looks cool too.

It's summertime and everyone wants to go to the beach.. Ramsey creek brings beach feel near to carolians. It was my first time visit on Sunday and we all loved it. The white sand and clear water gives you the beach feel.. As the water level for swimming is not much deep, so it's good for kids and babies. My 18 months daughter enjoyed the most. Perfect place for hangout with family and friends for parties and potlucks with a splash of water.

Parking for non Mecklenburg county residents is $15, but they do also offer a free shuttle option which I would probably do next time. It does well with resembling a beach, and the sand is easy to get off which is a plus! The only cons I have is that when I got there I expected it to be a wider perimeter for swimming, and also they had rocks at the bottom that were really rough on the feet. Another observation was that I did not come across any workers that seemed to show any sort of enthusiasm.

This was our first time going and we found it to be a Great Sunday outing! We brought a picnic from Subway and our beach tent and camping chairs and enjoyed ourselves for a few hours. It's after Labor Day so the nicer beach was closed, but it was also free to get in (I read that when the nice beach is open there's 'per car' admission). We were still able to walk into the water and get our feet wet. There was a breeze and it was very nice outside.

The best thing about Ramsey Creek Park for me is the fact it offers public boating access to Lake Norman. The 43-acre park is part of the Mecklenburg Parks & Recreation Department and sports three access ramps. For a lake that is, unfortunately, largely privatized, this kind of public access is in short supply. The parking lots are huge and there is plenty of room to park trucks and trailers. Ramsey Creek also offers public bathrooms, playground, volleyball court, nature trails, two horseshoe pits, fishing pier and a large waterfront picnic area with huge umbrellas that can be reserved for parties. There is also a beach area that is nice for relaxing by but unfortunately does not allow swimming. Those interested in reserving a shelter or 'funbrella' can call (704) 336-7600. To reserve the volleyball court, call (704) 336-3590.

First time Visit. I'm obsessed with my 8month old German Shepherd! He's super friendly, very chill and never bothers anyone. Summer is here!!! I decided bring my dog to the park. I never come to Lake Norman. It's about 20mins from my side of town. My pup enjoyed site seeing from his dog hammock. There's a parking fee of $3. Security is tight here! Yes you car will be safe. The park is dog friendly. However, pets aren't allowed in the water (bummer). The small beach (whatever you call it) isn't worth it. A bit crowded. Your better off going to an "actual beach". There are a few picnic tables for small families/gatherings. I can't remember if I saw any grills. We rested under the trees watching the boats go by. What can I say the weather was beautiful. Overall I don't plan to come back. Hahahhahahahha, maybe if I want to cruise on my boat round the lake. I can grill at home, or drive to an actual beach. Just saying.

Beautiful water, but way too many yellow jackets to enjoy ourselves. Would recommend visiting a different time of the year.

You can't have alcohol. They check coolers. And it's not a very big place blocked off for the swimming.

Jetton Park is perfect for hot days. It's in a wooded area so it's a well shaded. There's lots for kids to do and while most of the stuff I will say is geared towards kids five and up there are things for younger kids to do and I do appreciate the handicap swings. Kids younger than three have a very tiny area to play compared to everything else. They're definitely going to be drawn to the main play area, which is bigger and you might have bigger kids running around so that creates a little bit of an unsafe situation when you have a mix of uncoordinated children, and bigger rowdy kids. Even if your kids are bigger doesn't mean that they'll be able to use everything at the park. Some of the things are definitely geared towards balance and coordination so if your kids are not well coordinated or have good balance or can catch themselves if they fall I would stay close by. The other thing I love about this park is that we can bring our bikes and take a ride down to the water and let the kids play by the sanded area. The trails are beautiful and you'll definitely get some good distance in if you're going to go to any of the stops along the trail.

It has a quick "trail" that is shaded and always happily welcomed at that point of my run. I am also a huge fan of kids being outside, playing with their parents or other kids. I know that is ridiculously easy of me to say since I don't have any little gremlins of my own running around; however, after spending over a decade in youth development programming, I love to see kids get messy and smelly. I am always excited to see families enjoying this park in one way or another: lunch under the pavilion, playing on the playground or a game of baseball. The facilities, to me, look to be cared for at all times with green grass, safe equipment and clean bathrooms... I don't really see how you can go wrong here. There is a super tiny parking lot and some okay street parking. I "believe" you are able to park at the legion parking lot across the street. The weather is perfect right now for some park time. Keep the pups at home or keep them on their leash as there isn't a dog area here.

Kids are off for the summer and your closing for the summer. Another bright side is if and when this place does get a facelift it looks like it'll be pretty neat AND best of all big trees line the area so it's nicely shaded. Another note - weird note- the trees that surround the playground has these trees that drop pussy droplets and then clunk - these hard lime colored and sized things start dropping. I'be only lived here a couple years and have no ideas what they are. Weird choice for landscaping by a playground.
