The pub is beautiful and cosy, the landlady was kind and cheerful and the food.....oh god, the food! We both had a starter of pigeon, not something you usually see on a pub menu and it was superbly cooked and tasted amazing. For my main I chose the steak burger with chips and onion rings, the burger was big, flavoursome and juicy and the touch I like is that the tomato ketchup on table was all homemade, not from a bottle! We will certainly come back to this awesome place if we are ever near the area again because it was outstanding!!

There is plenty of parking, both next to the pub and a bit further up the hill and as you come down the bank your first view of the pub also provides a wonderful vista of the Deben estuary. Since there are moorings along this stretch of the river, the pub is a favourite haunt of boatsmen and the pub has a charming, un pretentious air about it. Food is good (with decent Suffolk portions) and the service is friendly and timely. It is a really nice pub to hole up in on a winters night, or on a sunny afternoon in summer - although it can get very busy on bank holidays. THe only downside is that, due to it being a bit remote, you will need to bring along a designated driver. I will admit to being a little biased, since I held my wedding reception there - and everyone commented on the excellence of the venue.

The beer was awful, the menu uninspiring and overall it was a miserable experience. But..we heard it had been recently taken over and lots of work had been done to the kitchen, so we decided to give it another chance. We were so glad we did! Despite being very busy, we were greeted warmly and with a smiles. The food was excellent, freshly made & cooked on the premises and at a very reasonable price. The beer is superbly kept and the overall atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We will definately be going again, and have no hesitation in recommending this. Its a beautiful pub, and with the new owners, will soon become the place to go. Superb!!

I have many fond memories of this terrific, ancient pub over the years. It is actually in Snape,…read morenot Saxmundham - about five miles difference. So don't be fooled by the post code. The inn is 15th century and retains so many of the old features such as cut-outs in the wall to display the wattle and daub construction of the walls. The flagstone floors are lovely as well. The Admans ale is the best in Britain, hands down, although I do not recall whether this is a "tied" house. I remember, a few decades ago, watching the marriage of Charles and Diana on the telly in the bar and getting plastered with the locals. This place is as traditional as it gets. The last time I was there I saw no fruit machines and I doubt any have appeared since then. A Suffolk treasure beyond measure.

Very cosy atmosphere, beautiful old building and they've retained the charm. The food here was delicious, and very reasonably priced, especially considering they use local ingredients. The hosts were very charming and the locals were as well. A lot of outdoor space so can imagine on a nice sunny Sunday, it would be nice to take advantage of! If you're in this area, I highly recommend popping by here. My only regret is we needed to head out without really getting to enjoy the evening atmosphere as we were walking back to our campsite and it was dark.

There is a reasonable ca park as it gets quite hard to park in the summer. I have visited for lunch and dinner and both were very nicely presented and well cooked. The skate is very tasty and the scampi and Jenga chips are good. The costs can be a little bit higher for lunch but the menu is very similar and therefore for dinner, I thought it was quite reasonable. Peter who used to be at another Billericay restaurant is the restaurant manager and as normal makes sure we get well looked after.
