This is a top of the line service company and certainly as good as it gets! Mark Schram quickly responded to my call and gave me lots of details on options to complete my work. 1) I had a cupola that needed to be replaced on top of a very steep metal rool. 2) I had a 50 foot gutter that I was considering replacement from the plastic DIY store to something more durable. I had contacted 5 separate service folks and most did not respond to my request. Or if they did, could not put me on schedule until 3-5 months out. Mark not only responded, but he put me on schedule in the next week. He has a guy by the name of Luis that came out and was quite professional. Mark kept me posted of his arrival to the minute, sent me a photo of who to expect, etc. (That was very beneficial to me, as I live out in the country and you get all kinds so I keep my gates closed.) With punctuality and the right crew, the job was done quickly and accurately. I've got a guarantee, they cleaned up after themselves. It's all good. incidentally, Mark did come onsite and I took the liberty to ask him about other odd jobs I was considering. What a knowledgeable guy. It has been over a year & he has not returned to finish the job & he will not return our multiple texts or calls. Mark showed up in April 2021 to give me an estimate to replace my back rain gutter which tore off the facia by the weight of the ice (freeze). I agreed to let him replace my back gutters and add a downspout on the front gutter. I wouldn't know if they do good work because he never returned my calls or communicated with me over the course of April or May. Updating again. I have submitted claims through the Better Business Bureau (not surprisingly, Ranch Hand Roofing did not respond to 6 attempts by the BBB), and the FTC. Will be contacting the Texas Attorney General next, and if that gets me no where, it's off to Smalls Claims. I have now tried, over the course of the last 10 months (from May 2011 until today), to contact Ranch Hand Roofing to close this matter via email (contact page on his site), phone, the RHR Facebook page, LinkedIn, BBB, and the FTC. The truth of the matter is, I would have been an advocate for Mark and Ranch Hand Roofing. I truly thought he was a stand-up guy, but unfortunately his handling of this situation is atrociously non-existent. Mark came out and did a quick fix on my roof leak (around my chimney) and then even came out again to measure and make a template for a permanent fix....but then he simply vanished. I suspect I am lucky that my relationship with this roofer was short-lived and that like some of these posters, I did not get heavily involved in having any further work done. Run, do not walk away from Mark & Ranch Hand Roofing. Mark came highly recommended from a friend. He repaired my roof due to hail damage. Sure he was friendly enough, returning my phone calls before he got my money. The flashing was not installed properly and unfortunately I didn't realize it until I had water pouring out my recessed lighting. I needed the drywall replaced and he would not return my phone calls or my emails. I called once from my work phone and he answered but then subsequently stopped returning my phone calls. After many months of no returned phone calls or emails I finally had to take him to small claims court. Guess what? Even though he was personally handed the notice, he still failed to respond. Default judgement it was. All I can say for those of you who've had work done, I hope you don't need warranty work because he is the worst contractor I've ever dealt with. read more

I did indeed get my roof replaced by Mark - and I'm glad I did. Mark provided not only a new roof for my house but a great deal of education about roofing in general, which (for me, at least) was a wonderful bonus - I like to know what's going on and why. Mark is also very detail-oriented, bringing to my attention things that I might want to get done such as additional leak-proofing in valleys, and including a zinc strip under my ridge vent to keep my nice light-colored shingles from getting mucked up with algae. The crew that actually installed the roof was very conscientious as well - my house has exposed soffits, so they drove multiple fasteners through an exposed area so that we could determine which fastener would both hold down the shingles well and not look completely horrible on the other side of the painted roof decking. They also kept out an eagle eye for any water-damaged decking that might need to be replaced in the course of the job and cleaned up after the job very, very well. Mark checked in several times as the work progressed, as well. I'm very happy with my new roof and I've already recommended Mark to a few friends who also needed roofs. I should note that I was much more interested in getting a really thorough job done than I was with getting the cheapest price I could, but even with those priorities up front I felt as though the job came in at an extremely reasonable price. Anyways, if you need a roof - you should absolutely consider Mark - great roofer, great guy, and I hear he's huge on the internet. read more

Mark and his crew installed a new roof at our house that had hail damage and was about 15 years old. Mark first assisted me in making a claim to my insurance company and luckily it was a covered claim. We knew we had a leak over a covered porch but once demo started, the size of the damaged area became apparent. Mark demo'd and replaced several plywood boards on the roof and then made sure the leak couldn't happen again through over-engineering protection in that area. He also fixed some additional areas that had been poorly installed when the house was built. None of these issues or fixes required me to go back to the insurance company for another inspection or request for more money. We have a pool and so there are lots of bare feet are in the yard all the time and Mark went to great lengths to make sure there were no nails or staples left on the property. He also kept the roof demo from getting into the pool which made my life easier and was probably not that easy to avoid. All-in-all, the roof looks great and I know I am good for at least another 15 years even with the hail storms we get in central Texas. Mark knows a lot about roofing and likes to share what he knows (who knows what a dead valley is?) which is a bonus. I have zero hesitation is recommending Mark and Ranch Hand Roofing. read more

I have to clarify that I did not get my roof replaced by Mark, but wish I did. He came highly recommended by a roofing website. I went through a different company, and ended up with a salesperson that didn't follow through with a lot. I did get an estimate from Mark, and after having a lot of problems with my current roofer, I called Mark to see if he provided inspections, which he does. He let me know what to look for to see if it warranted paying him to do an inspection. Very friendly and is very forthcoming with the information. You can tell he knows what he is talking about and loves what he does. He's also a huge UT fan if that helps. He'll be the first person I call next time a hail storm comes through. read more

I agree I had BAD experiences with Mark. again RUN don't walk away from this roofer. He is a scammer. He came recommended by another who was too busy at the time. Mark came by my house 4 times to estimate and measure the home. He lost the samples twice and had to come again to bring me samples. We signed the contract and I wrote in specifically the dollar amount it would cost me. Then when he finished the job after I paid him all the money on the contract on time he said he CALCULATED it wrong and wanted close to another $2,000 on a $3300 dollar job. I was shocked, his excuse he mismeasured. He then sued me tried to put a lien on my house. He took me to court,locked my bank account and those of all my children, since we were joint accounts. Ihad already paid him the extra for the work he said he had to do even though it was against my contract but he took me to court for more and the judge calculated I owed him about $7dollars and said I had to pay that because I didn't have an attorney who could help me explain. I had receipts but regardless, the $7dollar overage made me pay his attorney fees at another $600.00 Mark said he had added small print and I should have read that he could go over; even though we initialed and wrote the contract price and I discussed he had measured and he assured me that he wouldn't go over. The judge did say his miscalculation was his problem since he was in business so long it was his fault and she wouldn't find for him his $$2,000 overage. but added up a $7dollar difference. SHAME on you Mark , very unprofessional .....and dishonest.....liar...taking a client to court over your miscalculation and a $7 dollar difference....but I now own a Remodeling business and he is losing more business that he could have had if he had dealt with me honestly. read more

HORRIBLE I got Ranch Hand roofing through another roofer who was busy. Mark came over 3 x to measure the roof and choose my roof color. He lost the color and file 2x. On my contract I specifically wrote that the amount was $x amount and not more. He had after all measured and assessed the roof. Upon completion he sent me a bill and said he measured wrong, he filed a lawsuit to get more money out of me. I hired an attorney who was unprepared. We went to mediation and Mark refused to talk, he basically showed up and left then told the Judge we couldn't come to an agreement. We went back to court, I presented my paid statement "paid in full" but Mark said there was another small amount missing like $7.00 so the judge found for him and awarded a judgement, for several thousand dollars. The judge told Mark that he was a professional and after going out 3x he should have been able to measure properly. But since my attorney did not produce all the paid check stubs and misplaced a small one he basically won. I ordered a 3 dimensional roof and paid extra for it, now a few years later my house is leaking and I had another company over; they said it was installed so poorly that I will essentially have to put on another roof. The things they said 1: flashing is not aligned, nails are up all over and not even properly nailed, the shingles are not cut and matched properly, The edges and connections of the shingles are not properly aligned and on and on. This experience was horrible and I would NEVER HIRE HIM EVER. read more
