I've been to Rancho Chico a couple of times, I think 3 times since I don't live nearby here. My aunt's family love to go here. This looks like a family-owned restaurant too. Overall, the food tasted really good, even the complimentary chips and salsa. I can tell the salsa is very fresh! I am normally not ecstatic about salsa, because it usually taste bland in other places, but I always look forward to the salsa here. Today, we arrived at 11:00am for Thanksgiving. They were open from 11:00am to 4:00pm, when I called. The servers were friendly. There is a lunch special and several of the items on the menu were a reasonable price, under $8 - $9 for a good amount of food. We ordered fajitas, arroz con camarones (rice with shrimp), and the cheese enchiladas. The fajita lunch special comes in two. The rice with shrimp was from the regular menu, and was PLENTY for even 2 - 3 people. The cheese enchiladas come in two. I like that the overall food was not super greasy either, so I could actually taste the flavors of the food. I wish there was more steak for the fajitas I ordered, but then again this was the lunch special. Our servers our nice and attended to refilling our drinks and asking our food was ok. I think the only minor thing was when providing the fajitas, we had to remind her and ask about the tortillas. read more

This place has really gone down hill. We first found it about a year ago and it was great!!!! After coming about 2 times..... The service was so bad.... We haven't been back. We are visitors here. Service was so-so due to busyness. Food was good . Time to pay the bill my daughter and I wanted to split the bill. Checks were presented and signed . Next day due to fraudulent activity at the local Walmart , I looked at my account and had been charged the full price of our meal and half the bill again . Phone calls to the restaurant was , manager @5:30., then she needed a couple of hours to review., i called back in two hours , her statement was she was to busy and would call at the nights end . Never heard from her. Went to the restaurant the next day to show the amounts and two charges . Again manager was so busy over talking me she could not grasp what had happened . Next I called the Card services and was assured I would be reimbursed. Fast forward two days . By far my favorite Mexican restaurant!!! I've been coming here for awhile bc I live in the area and each time I come I am never disappointed. Each meal I have is so delicious it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. They also give complimentary chips and salsa (mild is my fav) Service is always nice and the decor is unbelievable! The customer service is very poor and special the one guy with spiked hair ( dint even feel like asking his name ) is rude to the guest, no smile no greet and interrupted me while giving the order while i came at the lunch time because they have a good variety of dishes. i have no idea how the guy can be that rude with the guest. the owner has to really look into the staff attitude towards there guest. not worth it anymore. read more

If I could give them a 10 for great service I would ...unfortunately I cannot say the same about the food it was dreadful . I'm Not certain what went wrong but it did not resemble authentic Mexican food we know and love ..enchilada sauce was generously spread across everything on our dishes and although this was the norm the problem was with the sauce ...someone added a bit too much salt to the sauce it was unbearable so much salt that makes you gag ...... My entire party had to politely leave all the food on their plates , pay and leave. The service were great but the food was absolutely terrible. I am a little disappointed with them. My wife and I have been coming here for years and for the most part the food has been good and the service has been good. However, lately things have taken a turn for the worse. The service has been bad. Very slow with order taking and delivering food. We ordered a queso and it came out after our entree. It was disappointing since they have really good queso and that is the reason we came here. We were in for dinner before this and they now have a mariachi band who goes around playing next to the tables. They were so loud you couldn't even think. We ordered take out. Carne asada and super nacho with ground beef. It was all delicious! The next day I went back and reordered their carne asada bc it was that good. I have been staying in St. Cloud for a week and I am an HUGE Mexican and margarita fan. This place is by far the best place I have had. After waiting for 45 minutes, are food still had not come out, finally went to find some one after two tables that came in after us received their food. The excuse was the computer went down (never communicated to patrons). While sitting and waiting for 45 minutes the people behind us proceeded to get drunk and started getting really loud. Finally, we had enough and went to ask if our food was ready if not please cancel the order. While standing there, it was put up, we asked for it to go. The atmosphere is everything you would imagine an authentic Mexican restaurant should be. I so enjoyed just looking around at all of the beautifully colored carvings. The server was fast, friendly and knew what he was doing. We never had to ask him twice for anything or ever had to ask for refills. It's sad that we are impressed these days when people actually do their job well. Anyways it appeared like they were all that way. We had two of their new 'bowls'. They were very good and there was just enough between both of us to have lunch for one the next day. And they gave just chips and salsa right away. The chips were the perfect combination of crunchy but not too thick. I would definitely recommend that you go there. I know we will go again. The only fault I have with the place is their bathroom. Went for dinner the other day because I wanted some Mexican food. The service was quick not that busy at all. I ordered the chimichanga with chicken and rice. My food was ok nothing to rave about. Part of my chimichanga was soggy which made it not that appetizing. The rice was ok and the beans didn't have much taste. My husband had some meal called chicken Mexicana it was ok looked more like chicken stew, I tried it but didn't care for the taste of the sauce. Sadly, in a town with as few quality restaurants as St Cloud this restaurant has severely gone downhill. I always order the Mexican Pizza for an appetizer which is served on fully filled huge plate. The huge plate arrived with a saucer sized portion. It served one person rather than the table as an appetizer. For $10 I commented to both a waitress and two waiters who simply shrugged their shoulders. If you dare, go with a bankroll and expect to leave hungry. These guys off for the closest to authentic Mexican food in the area. I'm from Southern California and have lived in Texas and I have eaten some pretty good Mexican food. I asked for hot salsa and normally the waitress has one on the tray but tonight there was none made so they took a mild salsa and poured in hot sauce and I mean a lot. Sent it back. I so wanted to like this place. I hope it was just an off night for me going there. It started off great. We arrived at around 3:45pm and it was packed. We just knew we were going to have a good time. We were greeted as soon as we entered and taken to a booth. Angie brought us chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. Brittany our waitress was over within 3 minutes to take our drink order. We both started with water. The menu is quite large. We both went with a comb plate. Me with the two tacos and one enchilada and the hubby with the 2 spinach enchiladas. He asked to switch out one for an avocado enchilada but was told he couldn't. Oh well. Both dishes came with rice and beans. As we were waiting for our food I asked for and ice tea.It literally took her 17 minutes to bring my ice tea. The tea tasted carbonated. Not what I thought. When the food arrived it was cold, not just mine but also the hubbys. The only thing hot in the plate was the refried beans. I had gotten one pulled beef taco and one chicken. The chicken was hard to chew and had no flavor. The beef was just as bad. The hubbys outside was hot because of the sauce on the enchiladas but cold in inside. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and clean. The bathrooms looked clean and well kept. The staff was very polite and handled the crowds good. The another problem which was not the restaurant's fault was we were sat in a booth with someone behind us who knew the people across from them and they were talking extremely loud and decide to start throwing things at each other. Today for lunch was my first visit and I was totally impressed. The service staff was excellent; friendly, helpful and attentive. Dining area is on the small side with traditional décor. There is a full bar with seating. I'll give them my Perfect Manhattan test when I return some evening. I'll expect the Margarita to be premium. As expected they start you off with chips and salsa but a big difference. The salsa is definitely fresh made in the kitchen with fresh ingredients. I could have made a meal of the salsa alone. The timid should be aware that the salsa has a nice bit of fire; just enough.The entrée was excellent with a reasonable portion, fresh ingredients, and cared for presentation.
