I love finding cool historical spots in the local area! I went on a Sunday and it looked like there weren't any real tours happening, so I just walked around the outside by myself. It was very cool seeing how well preserved everything was and they even had a gift shop. They had lots of dirt parking, a public restroom, and lots of picnic tables. I walk the "Sports Park" at least 5 times a week. I love the trails and its rural feel. The actual adobe is amazing with a lot of historical features and fun to tour. I want to give a shout out to Tom, one of the volunteers who lives on site. You will see him working around the trails and adobe on any given day. He takes pride in his work and it shows! Beautiful little historic site. Married my husband here back in 2014. It was a very intimate private ceremony. Our guests had the opportunity to visit the museum after the ceremony. We spontaneously stopped by on a Sunday afternoon hoping to stretch our legs and kill some time while we walked around the adobe and surrounding grounds. To our great surprise, our docent, Nancy gave us a private tour of the family residence, chapel, barn, sewing room, and surrounding buildings. She was unbelievably patient, fielding every question from my history-loving son, while keeping things interesting for his younger brother and sister. Nancy spent nearly 2.5 hours with our group and was wonderfully informational. So glad we made a visit to RGA part of our weekend adventure. read more

If you are feeling adventurous a ride from Guajome Park to the Adobe with your horse might just be for you! There are some fun trials up the hillsides. There is much less foot and bicycle traffic over there also. read more

There is a lot of exploring to do at this park besides taking a tour of the Adobe. But I highly recommend spending the $3 for adults - $1 for kids and taking an hour to walk through this historical building. On the weekends there are guiding tours at specified times, but you can always do a self guided tour and go at your own place. They give you a binder and you can take your time through the breezy corridors and absorb the history. We were the only ones there on a Sunday and we had run of the house. I thought this was a better learning experience than the Santa Barbara Mission.There are walking trails behind the Adobe, so come ready to stretch your legs a bit. - Nice bathrooms all things considered.. - Across the street from the North Coast Church. read more

Very cool historic spot to see if you're in the vista area. Walked around the adobe with my 4 year old and it was fun and a little creepy! Lots of rooms beautifully preserved from the 1850's and everything was very well kept. Nice spot in the front for a picnic and very clean bathrooms! read more

What wonderful surprise! I had no idea this Adobe House and Park existed until a friend pointed it out to me. The house was built in 1852-53 with later additions and alterations, and is 7,000sq ft. large, with a beautiful courtyard and 28 rooms. Almost all the rooms are open to the public and many have period furnishings and decorations. Admission is only $3 and there is plenty of parking. One of the park rangers gave me a three page guide with a brief description for each room. On the back is a very useful floor plan of the adobe. For photography (which is what I like to do) this place is excellent. I spent over two hours photographing the inside and outside together with twenty members of my photo group. The place is so large that we rarely got into each others shots. I highly recommend this little known jewel. read more

This county park is the perfect wedding venue for people looking to have a magical wedding without spending a fortune. I paid $1010 from 8am-7:30pm for the Victorian Garden which has a capacity of 250 people. It has a dancefloor and a beautiful arch...the bathrooms are extremely clean and the staff is really nice. The only downside is that they never answer the phone, you always have to leave a message but they will get back to you by the end of the day. Parking is included in the fee and there is plenty of it. Perfect place to have a wedding... :) great memories and beautiful pictures. read more

We come up here once a year the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the Christmas at the Adobe event that the park rangers and volunteers put on For $5 adults and $3 kids it's a great event. You can tour the rooms, there are beautiful dancers, arts and crafts tables (Gods Eyes, candle dipping, corn husk dolls) for the kids and you can watch a blacksmith, word carvers and lace makers. You can sit in the chapel and see lovely wreaths that the docents make from the local flowers. Caramel apples and popcorn are free as is parking. The gift shop has some nice things and books about the adobe and old San Diego history. We love coming here to kick off our holiday season! read more

I didn't actually get to go into the facility or deal with any of the staff directly, except for one ranger who was simply sweet and very considerate. During the pandemic, I had my maternity photos taken and my friend and photographer called ahead to make sure it was ok that we walk the grounds. The photos were amazing, this place is absolutely beautiful and very well taken care of. I can't wait to return for baby pics and maybe considerate this spot for a future wedding!!! We're in love with this location and it's only 55 minutes from our home. The ranger was pulling up during one of the poses and literally stopped her cart for us to finish and not kick up dirt and then came to remind us before the parking lot closed at 5. I wish I caught her name. This was a Saturday at 4:30-5 pm and she was a pretty brunette so maybe management can thank her for treating people so kindly! Anyways, LOVED this beautiful venue. I didn't think I'd get photos of my first pregnancy during a pandemic but they happened and I'm so so appreciative. read more

I love this place! I went to school across the field from it, we did a number of academic assignments with the adobe, and all kinds of community service projects here. Heck, we even held our graduation ceremony here. The building itself is nicely maintained. Unfortunately, the innards are slowly being reinserted and its' overall character as a museum is lacking. BUT! The historical agency and potential this place holds is amazing. A number of locals and historians can talk for hours on the cultural and historical significance of this local attraction! Often used for private events, this place can also be turned into quite the venue. I only wish it had the attention and regular manicure it deserves. Take an afternoon tour! This is a perfect wedding venue for someone who wants to do it all themselves. It is so inexpensive compared to anything else in the area (without looking cheap) plus includes the tables/chairs and set up. It is very laid back and you can do things other venues wouldn't allow like live music, your own caterer or food, no insurance or bartenders required. We used the chapel for the ceremony and the Victorian Garden for the reception and both were perfect for photos. There is a dance floor and there is plenty of shade everywhere except there. Every one of my guests complimented it saying how beautiful it was and they never knew it existed! read more

Its beautiful intresting I walked the trails here some areas needs a clear path to walk thru and you do come across a lot of poop on the floor but other than that its kind of just a simple historic place trail also goes thru to vista sports park not really that long but I feel safe on these trails except for the creatures that are known to be in the area . read more

Beautiful grounds and great self-guided tour with knowledgable docents and fun activities for kids. We attended Adobe Days and were not disappointed. Rope making, adobe brick making, panning for gold, and learning how to crack nuts and grind with a mortar and pestle were all great educational things offered for free to the children. I feel it is Super important to teach our kids about our past history and this was a great hands-on way to do it. Definitely worth the time to check it out. read more

My husband and I used the grounds for both our wedding and reception. It was just beautiful and open. Because we had a lot of families there it was important to us that the reception be in a space where the kids were free to run around. They also allow amplified music, so we were able to have a band play as well. Also, the pictures we took with our photographer around the grounds were gorgeous. This is THE perfect wedding venue! It is reasonably priced and all of the staff members are very friendly. It was by far the cheapest venue I found, especially because you can bring in your own food and drinks (beer, wine, and champagne only), they include chairs and tables for around 100 people, and the staff sets up and tears down those tables and chairs. There are so many interesting locations to this venue and our pictures came out amazing. We were all over the place! We took pictures in the surrounding fields, in the stables, in front of the chapel, in a gorgeous and bright side room...the photo opportunities are endless. There were even people riding horses in the field that day. We got married at the West Veranda of the home and held our reception in the Victorian Garden. It was a very hot day but luckily there are huge beautiful trees that provided plenty of shade in the garden. We love the history of the place and it's natural beauty. The only downside is that you have to be out of the venue by sunset, which in October was around 6:30. We just kept the party going at the hotel pool in Carlsbad (Grand Pacific Palisades) and our guests loved it. The staff here are great and are very accommodating. We couldn't be happier with the way it all turned out. read more

My wife and I used this location for our wedding and we could not have been happier. The price was outstanding and included space for the ceremony and reception with a dance, floor power outlets and even included some tables and chairs. All that for under $1,200.00. And it was beautiful and well maintained. Another terrific aspect, no required on site coordinator. Which is awesome. My wife and I specifically went away from sites with a required on-site coordinator because we ended up reading so many hellish reviews by people who had their weddings ruined by one of these coordinators who happened to have a business connection with a particular wedding site. Look at some reviews, I promise. Rancho Guajome Adobe instead has park rangers who are more then happy to help as long as you don't litter or nail anything into the trees. Even catch rattlesnakes that appear during your wedding. Yes, that's not a joke. We had a baby rattlesnake appear and they fished it out of the bushes for us in a timely manner. That's nature for you. It was a hot day, July 28th, but I'm certainly not going to downgrade this as a wedding location because it was hot outside at the end of July in southern California. Goes without saying. There are a few rules and regulations unique to public parks that you will have to consider when getting married at this location but these did not take away from our day at all. lol my cousin got married here.. at first i didn't get it. not that i ever doubt her but i just i was like what. we're having the wedding at a park? YES. we did! and for what she paid and for the overall mood of the wedding it was a spectacular location.. i didn't really get to spend that much time taking in the historical context of the place bc i was so busy doing my bridesmaid duties, but i did talk to one of the park rangers for a bit and i definitely wana come back sometime and learn more about it bc from the little that we did talk about, this adobe house has quite a story.. the park ranger did tell me in regards to the venue that they have over 50 weddings a year here which breaks down into at least one every weekend.. as far as the venue aspect of it goes tho, if you want something laid back and casual this is your place.. you MUST have an amazing bridal party tho bc it will be all you guys.. or you can hire staff but staff does NOT come with the place lol i saw one park ranger who did help wipe down tables while we were setting up but that was about it lol.. otherwise setting up, cleaning up is all you.. so obviously there's no kitchen so you gotta figure out food, my cousin hired someone to cater.. in addition to the reception, they also had the ceremony here, in front of the adobe house which made for a beautiful backdrop in pictures.. before the ceremony, we got ready in this little space that was kind of cramped, not very much lighting and no bathroom utilities but my cousin is a simple girl, it did the job well.. the bathrooms were all outside and well maintained for park bathrooms.. there's also a little area that served as a dance floor because it's a concrete square, but there is NO shade. lol so if you're having the wedding during the day like we had it, it's just too hot to dance.. but anyway, overall the simplicity of the place matched perfectly for the simple love of the wedding.. my cousin had a great time!! read more

Just held our wedding ceremony and reception here---and the park staff was great. They called me a few days before just to check on everything and to see if I had any last minute questions, and patiently answered any questions I had after we had booked it. Very picturesque and my guests were very comfortable in the shade under the beautiful trees in the Victorian Garden. Possibly one of the best deals in all of San Diego for a wedding venue. read more
