The concessions are very reasonably priced and you can even purchase a reusable cup that you can bring to other events. The whole center is very well kept and clean. The bathrooms are also very clean. I really appreciate that everything was smooth from parking, seating and even leaving the event. I will definitely be back for future shows.

There were two entrances, both with short lines and a security & bag check. Once inside, we got a glass of the Sonoma County red blend and HenHouse hazy ipa from one of two concessions stands in the lobby, both beverages in theater cups that come with lids and are reusable for just $3 extra. Staff was friendly and helpful at the event, whether serving us drinks or helping us find our seats. The venue was plain looking both inside and outside. The seats in the auditorium (Ruth Finley Person Theater) were basic but not uncomfortable. And the view, even from the last row in the back on the lower level, was decent. Sound from the stage was fine, clear enough that I could hear every single word the comedian used to keep the crowd rolling with laughter, including myself of course. Good times!

One gets the international scope of Jack London's travels- from the leper colony in Molokai to the ravages of the Russo-Japanese War, along with the devastation of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake (that awakened Jack&Charmian in their Glen Ellen home) They give tours, local schoolchildren contribute to the exhibits, they have a small research library- but it looks like the Museum Cafe has been replaced with a gift shop. It IS surprisingly good for a small museum. The $10 admission is worth it. Their gift shop had an amazing coffee table book about the visionary art of New Mexican artists. If you have challenges finding them, they're next to a frozen yogurt/boba spot. A peaceful, artist oasis off hectic Highway 12.

I got no work done the 1st half of the day because I couldn't stop looking at everything. It's like an Antique shop but everything works! I'm so used to seeing really cool old things but they don't work. Everything works! Then you walk the property & see the train (which works!) & Tractors, old cars, Concord Grape vines from the 30's, giant compressors... It's like Steve got real sized versions of all the toys he ever loved. Come by to see the place, stay to help out & make sure to check out the Upstairs of the barn where there is an old Chevy Truck (which Steve learned how to drive in & took his license test in).

This place is a true gem. This is the type of place that can only be found in an out of the way…read morelittle town in the middle of nowhere...and lucky for us, we have just such a back-woods hamlet in our beloved Penngrove. This "museum" has just about every type of motor/engine you can think of but unlike a good number of museums, most of the exhibits at this one are still in working order. From old tractors to working vintage printing presses to one of the actual engines from Howard Hughes' famous Spruce Goose. And get this...there is a mini train (but big enough to ride on) that runs around the property!!!! They usually have one or two days a year that they are open to the public so keep your ear to the railroad tracks because you won't want to miss it. Usually there is an open house during the summer sometime. Along with the Petaluma Military Museum (300 Petaluma Blvd N) this is one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon soaking up some of the marvels from our country's industrial past.

We recently paid $35 or so per ticket to see an outstanding country performance and I would highly recommend it to anyone whether it be date night or a small group of friends, you can't go wrong checking out a show at the Mystic Theater. The Greek vendors were friendly and patient when I asked for no onion in my salad. I got a ham and cheese gluten-free crepe that was yummy and plentiful. But watch out for the dessert crepes-they are small. All vendors accept debit and credit cards. If you want to sit down and see a picnic table that isn't full, you can ask the people there if you can share the table. Or bring your own chair. I really appreciate the bathrooms with flush toilets. In other venues, I don't like using porta-potties. We got there early, about 1:30 PM, on Saturday, July 31. At the carnival, the lines to go on rides were short. They got longer in the evening. Most of the rides were fun, but The Zipper is a problem. It's basically a cage where 2 people get into a harness. As the structure rotates, the cage swings any which way. You go upside-down a few times. The problem is that it jars your head. Two of the young ladies in my party stopped going on rides after going on The Zipper. One got nauseous/dizzy, but she is OK now. The other got a headache that lasted the rest of the day. A third lady is fine. So the reactions vary. I recommend avoiding The Zipper. There are other exciting rides that you won't regret. There was live music and dancing. Bring earplugs or stand off to the side. It's a bit too loud.

We went on the food day where you get in for a dollar if you bring canned foods to donate. And…read morethank God because paying full admission would've been a waste of money. There was nothing exciting to see in the grace pavilion except maybe the water Skiing squirrel. The flower show was not as cool as it usually is. The theme was "celebrations" which didn't seem very creative. The food the last couple of years has been super expensive and way greasy. We bought tickets to the cirque me'ceo and the show was just OK. You're not allowed to bring in food that you purchased from the booth right outside the tent in with you which is crazy because if you have to pay to get into the fair in order to pay to get into the cirque you should be able to bring in food you bought from the fair. This is the second year the horse races have not been there and it doesn't look like they'll be coming back.

I feel like I'm as old as the legendary Phoenix Theatre, which was apparently built in 1904. I saw…read morequite a few shows here back in my teenage years in the late 1990s...mainly rock, alternative, ska bands whom are mostly unknown and have long since disbanded...but I did see some awesome bands that were nobodies whom later became famous like Goldfinger, Agent 51 and Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I spontaneously dropped in again last weekend on whim...the theater is still old and run down, old furniture, peeling paint, worn and creaky wooden floorbut felt like home. Some loudass punk rock bands were playing, old furniture, peeling paint, worn creaky wooden floors...and an audience that was mix of teenagers and old, ugly, aging, Gen Xers such as myself, and inbetween. $13 for 3 bands...that's a deal. I just wish they sold alcohol.

Anyone who is not an adolescent will likely be running the other way from the lack of upkeep in this sadly aging ghost of a venue. The strong and enduring smell of urine is unacceptable by any business standards. This spot has that New York abandoned apartment building turned makeshift heroin crash pad feel to it, and unfortunately, not in a good way. It seems to serve some kind of purpose for goth and punk teenagers and their beloved skateboards which is sweet and added a star to this review, but I think that they too deserve a better cleaning crew. No alcohol, but you can buy a bag of chips or a Snickers bar from the dude at the front.

The Sonoma Depot Park Museum is a hidden gem. Despite its close proximity to the Plaza, with the…read moremission&the presidio, it's relatively uncrowded. It's open only from Friday to Sunday. The volunteer docents are very friendly, and there's plenty of history on railroads in Northern California, the Bear Flag Revolt, the local Miwok/Pomo Indians, and a current exhibit on the Sonoma Valley hot springs as a tourist attraction until Prohibition. The Depot Museum also has 3 dioramas with creepy mannequins depicting the Bear Flag Revolt, an 1860s schoolhouse, and a typical children's nursery from the Victorian era.They're not that different from the ones at the Sharpsteen Museum in Calistoga, or the Bl. Junipero Serra one at the nearby California Missions Museum behind Cline Cellars. The Depot Museum is a fascinating, fun little destination. Educational and interesting.
