After My Own Art…read more Located on 217 acres of pristine Napa Valley land, the Di Rosa is a contemporary art museum that's been operating publicly since 1997. This museum is the personal collection of Rene & Veronica di Rosa. The Good: *Temporary exhibits rotate approximately every four months. *Complimentary umbrellas (more on that later) *A good portion of the exhibits are outdoors along their gorgeous property. *Shuttle if you don't want to or need assistance walking from building to building. *You really have to like weird shit because this place is full of it. Personally, I love it, but if you're more "serious" art person, then this probably won't be your jam. *Picnic tables on the grounds, as you're encouraged to bring food and drink to enjoy in their outdoor area. *Friendly staff The Meh: *General admission of $25 might be a touch high for an art museum. The Ugly: *Be wary when visiting during inclement weather,as there's a large part of this museum that's outdoors. So you'll probably miss out on some of it, but the free umbrellas (mentioned above) did come in handy. Conclusion: Fun art museum with some really cool pieces and doesn't take itself too seriously.

She wrote a lovely review for Passdoor it is a eclectic mix of wonderful pieces . Worth checking out , often , as the pieces change frequently . The holidays , she has exceptional items to decorate or for gifts . I have always felt such warm vibes and gratitude at this location and the previous one in the Barlow . And no matter where I go, I find the selection to be varied and unique, the quality high, the prices reasonable, and the background to a particular piece to be fascinating. I also feel good about supporting local artists and truly feel that such places are the best gift shops in Town. This time around, I bought a beautiful ceramic table piece. It has a distinct shape, stunning red colouring, good heft, and a nice feel to the touch. It was designed and crafted by Beverly Prevost, who I had chance to meet a few minutes later at La Haye Are Center next door. The Guild member working the Gallery was friendly and informative, and I didn't mind helping her figure out how to work the credit card machine. After all, Right Brain Creativity doesn't always translate to an immediate grasp of Left Brain Details.

Paintings, sculptures, photos, things to hang on your body and much of it has been inspired by the spectacular natural beauty of the turf where these artists live. The first Friday of every month Guerneville's gallery people open their doors, lay out a few munchies, a cup of something red and shmooze with visitors, townies and members of this intertwining network of people who share goals, points of view and the latest dirt on a couple of their mutual acquaintances. Well-behaved pooches are welcome and you might come upon a few surprises.I love this place and the people who brighten it and make visiting it a special experience.

Sonoma Court Shops CA Sat 5/7/22 ©…read moreLife takes you places. Figuratively speaking and literally, too. It took me to Sonoma downtown this Saturday in May! Sonoma Court Shops is a courtyard across the street from historic Sonoma Plaza, an outdoor space full of shops, wine tasting rooms and galleries. Never knew it was there, a truly surprise find! Wine county treasure. Fountains, arches covered in greenery, retail shops, little oasis of pleasure and joy. Gastronomically satisfied belly, after delicious brunch in San Francisco, called for relaxation with a good bottle of wine. It's time for the soul. Over the Golden Gate I go! And back into yelping, after a month-long break, taken for full immersion in work. Life's been busy, my friends! That's how I do things - I dive in! With everything I have! Drove to wine country and ended up in Sonoma Court Shops walkways. It's a Vine Alley, come explore! A welcoming European detour is sure to please. You'll thank me later! Ten sculptures by seven different artists, with the theme of "play", this is a cool exhibit in…read moreNapa. Apparently, the Napa Art Walk theme changes every couple of years. We visited this past weekend, and it was pretty much like a scavenger hunt, because the pieces are not all located in the exact same area, they are along different streets hidden in gardens and near businesses at random points. But if you have a map, it makes it easier (I included a photo). Most of the pieces are within walking distance to each other, but on a super hot day, we opted to skip a few that were farther out. If you love art, this is a great display of unique and creative artworks, some simpler than others but all created with symbolism. The pieces are made out of diverse materials, from musical strings to bicycle parts, as well as stone, glass, aluminum, and steel.  My favorite sculptures were Time and Awareness, stone artwork that looked almost like a wave, and Wild Flower, a colorful presentation of the Californian poppy made out of bicycle wheels (this one's easy to find, it's right next to Gott's Roadside at Oxbow Public Market). Most of the others are closer to the Riverfront, or 1st and Main. We had fun experiencing the seventh Napa Art Walk exhibition (2021-2023) on a Sunday afternoon, an opportunity to appreciate the talents of diverse artists. And interestingly, according to the website, the art pieces are also for sale. Cool.

It's true that the building itself isn't open except by appt. with individual artists and for special events like this past June's Art at the Source Open Studios. The next big event for Atelier One will be their 30th Anniversary celebration on Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st 2017. It's an intriguing and wonderful place to visit--a historic old apple processing building that now provides studios for a diverse group of artists and craftspeople. We've been to several of their open houses over the years, & they are always well worthwhile attending. Too bad they're not open to the public at least on weekends. They've got a lot of very interesting & well done work, which is much more than I can say for some of the galleries we've been to here.
