When I found Charlotte at Salty Horse Stables, I was ecstatic to get one-on-one lessons that really taught me how to ride at a safe pace. She takes the time to get to know every student and their needs, and never pushes anyone to do something that makes them uncomfortable. A year in, I started doing small jumps in the arena - something I never expected I could do (or even knew that I wanted to do!), and I'm so grateful for Charlottes professionalism along the way. She is incredibly encouraging even on my worst days and cheers me on when I have my great days. I've seen her with children too, offering trails rides to build their confidence (which is how I started as well) and I love how she makes horseback riding fun. I dropped in to check it out and Deer Springs Feed & Supply had exactly what I needed. They also had other things that I have appreciated picking up over the years, such as; solid toys for power chewers, horse shampoo for a shiny coat and barn jackets perfect for travel. Fast forward to the days of COVID. I had a lot to accomplish one day and I was heading to the gas station on my way home. I didn't quite make it and pulled in outside the shop. The owner appeared and assisted. I was quite embarrassed but the owner was kind. He ran to get a gas can and filled my car with a quarter tank of gas. I tried to give him money, but he would not take it. This was at a time when gas prices were on the rise. I was so appreciative of the kindness I received. I will always be a customer of this business because of this good deed. Sometimes I just stop by to purchase some dog treats or people treats from the fridge. This is a family run business and they really care about animals, people and their community. Not only did they help me as a citizen but they support causes such as the Teri Campus of Life down the road. When I stumbled upon Linda's facility, I knew it was perfect and when there was finally an opening I was elated! The facility has much of what you could ask for. It's one of the few pasture options in North County San Diego, has a small/large arena option, individual pastures with covered stalls for when it rains, tack rooms, wash racks, etc. and they are able to cater services to exactly what your horse needs! It was perfect for us and I am so relieved I can retire my horse and still see her often. Since boarding my horse there for the past year, she has had a few health issues, which Linda and her staff have gladly helped accommodate giving medications, monitoring her progress, and even assisting with moving to a dry lot pasture as she could no longer handle the grass. I can tell all the staff truly care for my horse and want to ensure she is healthy and happy, which is worth more than anything, especially since I don't see her everyday. We had around 50 guests which is way below capacity but the way Lindy and her team arranged the tables made it feel just right.
