If you're in the area and you need a place to bring your little ones highly recommend. This is a cute little zoo that's best for kids under 5. It's very small and takes less than an hour to go through if your kids are older. I'm docking a few stars because they let way too many people into the petting zoo area at one time, especially when they only have a few goats to pet. I also docked a star because the walk over to the playground and picnic table area is unnecessarily long because they have the shortcut path blocked off. read more

For the price and what it is - it is 5 stars. If you're looking for a big city zoo that you'd spend several hours at (and pay 4x as much) - this is NOT it. It is a very good small zoo with about 15 outdoor enclosures; a half-dozen enclosures in the barn, and 8 or so exhibits in a separate building. During the busier times, there are keeper talks or events every hour for different animals. Apparently you can feed goats, llamas, etc... for $1.50. We went on a weekday in late February and the desk wasn't open. Yet... there were only a few other visitors in the zoo - and so it was very easy to see everything. They have pony rides as well. If you have a child under the age of 10 - I could see spending 2 hours here when it isn't winter. We spent just under an hour and saw everything and took our time. read more

My kids love coming to Randall Oaks zoo. We started coming here almost 5 years ago and have visited many many times. It's a great zoo for little (toddler) aged kids. It's small, not terribly crowded and for the most part all of the animals are easily seen. You can buy feed up to feed certain animals which is always fun. My kids love the new goat petting zoo area. It's much nicer than it used to be. The animal handlers are super friendly and knowledgeable, however other zoo staff members are not very friendly and I have had some rude interactions with them before. If you have children (or a child-like wonder still alive in your aging husk of a body), then this place will please and delight. You wanna see a wallaby lounging like a fashion model? Done. You wanna see a camel and think "wow, that guy is big"? Done. You wanna see the coolest pelican-topped trash can to ever exist? You put the trash in it's mouth! I mean... Done! So this is a small, community zoo. There's no getting around that. You won't see lions, tigers, or bears. But for a few bucks and a maybe a few hours, you'll be pretty close to a lot of cool animals. A big pig might scratch itself on the fence. The white turkey might huff and puff at you. If you are lucky (like I was) a porcupine might eat, shake off some quills, then climb right up to the caging and pose for pictures. It's likely that foxes will be asleep (I saw one yawn!!!), along with the opossum, raccoon, bobcat, etc. But you can make up the difference with goats. Lots of goats. Some very eager goats, so don't let them knock the feed out of your hand/the pan (although, pro tip, you can scavenge lots of pellets from the ground, if a buck is too much for you to pay). For anyone who lives in the area, big or small, this place is worth visiting at least once. You've driven by so many times, why not pick a weekend to stop in and see what all the fuss and fuzz is about. read more

I do wish our 3 yr. old grandson was with us for our visit to this charming & cute zoo. Next time we can bring him here. You can feed some of the animals. We seen a large turkey, a camel, goats & other cute animals. I like it as it is not real huge & not alot of walking. Everything is clean & I can tell the animals are very well cared for with love. My Hubby & I did not see a donkey which we seen they have or used to have when we searched their site. There is plenty of parking & a nearby park for kids & for people to bring a lunch to eat. Took 2 year old grandaughter here. It was a great place to take a wee one for maybe 1-3 hours. it is a gated path that you follow around and can fed animals or look at them. Have a goat pen that kept her entertained for a hour. There was park at the end of it. Took the kids there during the week to enjoy the animals and the weather before the cold settles in. It was nice going during the week since there was less foot traffic. I think at one point it was just us and another group on the grounds. I like how it's large enough to tire the kids out but small enough to get through in a little over an hour . Pony rides weren't available when we went but they did have fall decor up along with a corn bin the kids enjoyed. And after everything is all said and done- the playground is an added bonus to expel more energy before leaving. read more

If you have a toddler and you want to introduce your kids to animals, this is a good place to start. They have a camel, horses, goats, cows, chickens, llama, turkey, turtles, ducks, etc. Animals they already know from nursery rhymes they will get to see face to face. You can feed the animals although i dont recommend it. Animals are animals. You dont know when they have mood swings. The place also have a play ground your kids will enjoy. As always, wear your mask, bring your hand sanitizer. Keep social distancing. I know America is so divided when it comes to this. Just dont take the risk when it comes to your family. read more

This is a wonderful zoo with tons of fun for the entire family. The grounds are well manicured and the animals are out and about ready for your attention. Took my 2 year old over the weekend and she was in heaven! It was the perfect amount for her. She loved being able to pet, brush and feed the animals. I really liked the fact that it's small. So if she ran I knew she wouldn't get far. They have goats, sheep, deer, raccoons, skunks, foxes, porcupines, a bobcat, bunnies, peacocks, ducks, a camel, alpacas, cows, and some other random animals I can't remember. I also liked that it was pretty cheap. We got out of the house/saw animals/got some sun and had fun for $10. It was a bit of a drive, but they also had the park for her to run around at and the one room school house as well. She's 2 so she thought it was the coolest thing ever, but if she were an older kid I'm not sure she would have enjoyed it as much. I'd say this zoo is good for ages 0-5/6. We'll probably come again. She did want to pet the ponies, which she wasn't able to. I felt bad for them being tied up. That's the one thing I wasn't crazy about was the pony rides. An absolute blast! I have driven by this place so many times not knowing it was a zoo, today we stopped in and didn't know how much fun we would have. Every staff member we came across was very polite and informative, even the animals seemed to have a positive vibe going on. I hate to have to post this review but I feel that it's my duty to speak up. The people here are very nice and it would be a great day out, except... I left feeling deeply sad in my heart. The animals there, many of them, do not look well. Many of them appear to have skin lesions, loss of hair and even what appear to be tumors. I dont think that the animals are being taken care of properly. Some of the animals appear scared, as well, and not willing to engage. There was a goat that stood against a back wall on a ledge about 10" wide, looking scared and with what appeared to be a skin condition, and she never left the edge the whole time we were there. She was there when we came in and there when we left. And what made me equally sad was that there are hundreds of people who visit here, breeze through and apparently notice nothing. How can't they see the sickness and the sadness? I have contacted the Dept. Of Agriculture. I just want them to be visited to rule out animal neglect/improper care. :( read more

This zoo is small, but very interactive! Some of the animals were very overweight due to getting fed All-Stock grain all day, every day. Maybe offer Mazuri Petting Zoo Pellets instead to avoid the obesity issue. There is a good variety of animals to see and interact with. I love that many of the areas have scheduled Keeper Chats. The keepers are super nice and informative. You can see the whole zoo in an hour or less, but it is worth it to stick around for the Keeper chats and training demonstrations. All the animals were expressing natural behaviors and were clearly well cared for. I love any facility that gives unwanted ponies a home and a job! The pony rides were done well! read more

Fun day at the petting zoo. For a little over $14 she was able to feed the animals (2 feed bags) and ride the pony. The animals ranged from chickens to an emu. Just enough to keep her engaged. This place is perfect for small children. I brought my 4, 2 and 9 month old and we had a blast! The size is small but just right. The animals were all nice and I loved the layout. Food is cheap and the kids get such a thrill out of feeding them. There is even a playground to the side to get the rest of their energy out. Im a mother of six children and a grandma to three. Needless to say Ive been to countless parks, zoos and entertainment sites. I was so disappointed in this establishment. The woman who was at the counter to pay for admission was so indifferent. No smiles, minimal greeting. There was no where to get some food or snacks other that bottled water for sale along with candy. The pony rides were close to $5 which was ridiculous. The charge for a cup of food for the animals was no more than a 1/2 cup. I wanted to leave, but with a 3 and 4 yr old grandchild it was difficult.They only seemed to enjoy the park with the swings. The staff seems burnt out. Maybe its been a long summer! Will never return. read more

Fantastic spot! Brought our almost 2-year old and this was the perfect place to visit. So many animals for her to pet and see up close, and minimal walking so it was perfect. It's definitely a small place with a very family oriented feel. The zookeepers brought out four different animals during our short 1.5 hour visit - a cockatoo, guinea pig, snake, and turtles- that kids could come see and pet up close. It's a great place for a family outing. I also have attended a birthday party here. Very interactive. The one concern I have is this: there's too much sugary options sold. I've been trying to reduce how much sugar my children have regularly. They sell drinks and almost everything was super sugary products. They had chocolate milk but no regular milk. I found that odd. There should be low calorie gatorade and milk offered. We ended up just buying water. Even the snacks could be offer more variety (that isn't all sugary or salty). There's so many options today such as the fruit squeeze packs, pretzels, etc...Hopefully they consider this. Thanks:) read more

Drove over an hour to get here today. There were maybe three cars in the parking lot when I arrived. I read a review that said it's always busy so I guess we got lucky today. The price of admission is so budget friendly. I love that there are animals in there right away so the kids have something to look at if there is a line. The animals have so much personality! I love a good petting zoo (hence traveling over an hour) and these little and big guys were my favorite! The camel, omg the camel. I could have stood in that spot all day. The section where you can brush the goats was so clean! There was a person in there constantly cleaning up the poop. I've been in some icky goat brushing areas (not like I've let it stop me) and I can't imagine a cleaner place. I love the corn area and the playgrounds. The gifts in the gift shop were so reasonable priced I had no problem with my kid asking me for something. My only complaint is that it's very small. That's MY complaint because I drove so long and only spent 45 minutes there. If i was a local, I wouldn't care and probably prefer it. read more

Took my two boys to this petting zoo on a Sunday morning. They had a blast. The staff is super nice, lots of animals to see, feed and pet. One of the staff members was roaming around with some little animals and encouraged our boys to pet them gently...she came with a rabbit, then a snake and a hedgehog. First time i saw a hedgehog. We saw goats,llama,ducks,peacock, hens,cows, horses,pony,pigs, deer,rabbit,turtles, raccoon, skunk, tarantula spider, bobcat, porcupine, and a few. Little place, reasonably priced and very very well spent time. Highly recommend to parents with toddlers. There is a park right next to the zoo, where we had fun on swings/climbers before heading over to the benches and eating our lunch. What a fun picnic day. read more

This is a cute place, but it is very little. Unless you go to the playground, do not expect to spend more than an hour there. It is a barnyard zoo with your typical cows, horses, sheeps etc and a few woodland animals such a racoon, fox, bobcat and some exotic animals such as a macaw and snakes. The biggest negative of this place is the layout. it is not a nice relaxing walk around to view and feed the animals, instead it is a few straight pathways with dead ends. I wasn't too impressed with the woodland animals enclosures plus that area stinks big time. The staff was very friendly and they seem to care for the animals. If you have a child who perhaps wants to see, feed and pet a cow then this is a great place for a quick trip to walk around outside and have a snack at their playground. read more
