Extracted all four of my wisdom teeth here during the Pandemic. Terrible experience that actually led me to avoid the dentist until this year, as embarrassing as that is to admit. Dr. Stettler did not have good bedside manner with me. He was gruff and sarcastic. Does not like to answer questions. Spoke to me like I was stupid. During my actual surgery, they struggled to put the IV in my arm, leaving me with a lot of bruises on both arms. As I was being put under, it was chaos! No counting down calmly. The doctor was loud, lots of movement, he cut his hand on a sharp tooth of mine and was audibly upset about it. That's not the way someone should go under anesthesia for the first time! The procedure took much longer than expected but they did not provide any updates to my worried wife and mother both waiting in the lobby. When they finally were informed I was freaking out from the anesthesia when I woke up, they refused to let either of them come talk to me despite me begging as I knew it would calm me down. My family was wearing masks (covid) and were calm. There was no reason to refuse our request. When I finally did calm down, I was extremely nauseous. They didn't want to give me zofran and my mom actually had to call later in the day to push for them to prescribe it, as I was vomiting a lot when I got home. They did prescribe it, but it was confusing they didn't just do it to start. I did the follow-up and it was fine. I also would caution potential patients to read the business' response to reviews here. They teeter the line of HIPPA to save face, rather than accepting the feedback and providing more generalized responses to discuss privately. I am so grateful for this office! 1. They followed the insurance fees completely - no hidden fees - 2. My wisdom teeth removal was seamless and easy. I did not get put to sleep and i had no pain my teeth were severely decayed bcuz they were under the gums and i couldn't reach them. Thankfully he got them out with what felt like 3 wiggles each side. From check in to check out i was done in 30 mins. I have no pain and no swelling. I was prescribed pain meds but didn't need them! 3 years after my wisdom teeth extraction from Dr. Stettler and I still have numbness on the lower left side of my jaw. I got my wisdom teeth removed in March 2021 and the experience itself was fine. At my post surgery checkup appointment, I noted my lower left jaw was still numb and Dr. Stettler informed me that it was nerve damage that could heal in the next few weeks to months but here I am now 3 years later and it's still the same. In the following months after the surgery, Dr. Stettler had me coming in every few weeks to check if it was still numb, which it was, but offered no solutions and just told me to wait. read more

I have been putting off my wisdom teeth removal due to anxiety but couldn't any longer after migraines. However, Dr. Stettler and his AMAZING nurses are the best. I had cracked a back molar #18 in March. I am a veteran, and being as dental appointments are extremely backed up at the VA, I chose to have surgery out in town. It took me 3 months to get the consultation to this office, and I was in a great amount of pain the whole time, but the staff here is friendly and it seems they like what they do. That is an extremely important aspect for me when getting surgeries, since I've had a few. I had to wait 3 weeks for my surgery to be authorized by the VA, but they made everything as smooth as possible. I can't stress that enough. With surgeries in the past, I've had to do a lot of leg work getting documents or other things necessary before surgery, this was not the case here. I get very anxious going into surgery, but they made me feel at ease before and after. I didn't have one single issue with the surgery or picking up my meds. I have minimal swelling day 2, which I know it will increase in the next few days, but this pain is just localized, and nothing like when the tooth was cracked and I was having shooting nerve pain on the left side of my face. I like people giving me straight answers and not sugar coating anything, and they gave me all the answers I needed to feel confident and worry free before and after. I would most certainly refer anyone here for dental surgery, because the staff all have a very good working relationship from what I observed, and again, most importantly, made me feel comfortable with their decisions. read more

A Mother's Worst Nightmare!! My son was referred to this office for wisdom teeth extractions/surgery. Maybe 20 min after check-in my son was called in. I waited in the lobby. I was called in after my sons procedure by the nurse to go over post surgery recovery. My heart was crushed the moment I seen my son sitting in a wheelchair with an I.V. drip to his arm, gauzes coming out of his mouth and his pale face. The assistant nurse went over post recovery care instructions and prescriptions that had been submitted to the pharmacy. I am not going further into detail because this brings me into tears and horrible feelings like I'm reliving that day. I will say this, this office/DDS intravenously gave my son meds after they had already administered meds that I think caused two seizures after leaving the office. The second seizure caused my son to loose consciousness. I got him to paramedics at the fire station where he was then transported to the ER. There he was administered naloxone which most assuredly saved his life! BEWARE!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DDS. BE CAREFUL!! I WOULDN'T WANT ANY PARENT TO EXPERIENCE THIS! read more

I had some of teeth pulled and bone grafts , everything went well. I was under local anesthesia during the procedure. When I awoke I felt no pain. Dr Stettler gave me instructions for healing and what to eat. The procedure and healing went well. The Dr joked with me to put me at ease. His assistants were very helpful and kind. Hi. I was referred to Dr. Stettler from my dentist as I needed a dental implant placed for a tooth I had to have extracted 2 years ago. He and his team did a great job. I had dual insurance and they were very upfront about what my insurance would cover vs out of pocket. I have two other implants so he went back to my old dentist to get that Implant brand so they match. I had the procedure done two weeks after my first visit, it was painless and donenin 40 minutes. No call the next day. I called two days later, they gave me the run around "I need to check with the other girl", said they'd give me a call back. Never received a call. I was referred to this office by my regular dentist because I was going to be out of town on the day his oral surgeon came in and he thought the teeth should come out pronto. They had called me to confirm the appointment and I asked if everything was ok with the insurance and they said yes. Great, extractions-I'm fine with a local anesthesia, unfortunately it's one of the more simpler dental processes I've had over the years. I filled out my paperwork in the cushy waiting room and then asked to use the restroom so I could floss and brush before I saw the doctor, since I had come from work. When I opened the door to the restroom, I saw that only a toilet was in there. No sink, no mirror, not a lot of room. I told the woman I needed a sink so I could floss and brush and she pointed to a scruffy little sink outside the bathroom, in the hallway, between examination rooms. The only restroom and the only sink. I was revolted but told myself to give them a chance. I used the restroom and tried not to think about how everyone uses the restroom and then touches the doorknob before washing their hands. Gross. This is a doctor's office? In the hallway, I washed my hands twice, flossed and rinsed, watching my little food particles swirl down the drain, brushed and then washed my hands. There was no counter space. Gross, gross, gross. I was taken into an Xray room and I said, what about the Xray I brought over? And she said I wouldn't be charged, but he wanted his own. So I had a panoramic Xray. I was ushered into that grandfather's lounge room and an assistant came in, with my paperwork and asked me if my tooth was bothering me. I asked her if she knew why I was there. She asked which tooth it was. I said, it's in the referral paperwork right there. She said I didn't need to answer if I didn't want to. She left. In about 20 minutes the doctor came in. I thought he was nice and gentle, but he was rushed and he said I needed to be sedated. I had just wanted a local and for it to be done today, which is what had been said on the phone between the 2 dentist offices, but he wouldn't. He really wanted to sedate me, said I needed it because I was nervous. Which I was, but going completely under? Not unless I have to. He rushed out, I waited another 10 minutes and then the scheduler came in with the breakdown of costs which would require me to pay $777 as a copay. I thought that was pretty steep. I asked them to work with a secondary insurance I have and the office manager said it was too much work for them, I could pay and then submit to be reimbursed. My extraction appointment was really a 2 hour plus consultation. They wanted me to come back the next day, take valium, be totally sedated, have the extractions and then be driven home after paying them $777. Too much too fast. I said I needed to think, I was confused because this wasn't what I expected this afternoon. I didn't appreciate the unsanitary bathroom set up, the rush for complete sedation PLUS something to relax me before that (overkill?), the surprise copayment and the refusal to work with my secondary insurance. I don't know yet if they charge more than others, but I'm willing to find out. I walked out and am glad I did. read more

Dr Stettler took out a molar and left a root in. When we went back to get it taken out (since the pain was so intense it was hard to sleep) we were informed that he would charge an additional $364. When we complained and pointed out that if the original tooth had been extracted we would not have to come back we were told we would not be charged. We did get charged. It's clean, it doesn't remind me of a regular dentist office, it reminds me a home and it comfortable with cable tv, complimentry coffe, hot chocloate and sodas while you wait, This is Like Freakin AWSOME TO ME!!!! The magazines are not ripped or ugly. Theyr'e all current up to date magazines, not articles from like 8 years ago with some knock off perfume sample. But anyways. Dr. Stettler is the king of oral surgery! Not that I visit many oral surgeons but anyone who gives you Valium before yanking out 4 of your wisdom teeth knows what's up and gets an A++ in my book. I was freaked out about having my wisdom teeth removed but at 7 am that morning nothing could phase me, not even my worst nightmare. I was totally whatev sitting in the dentist chair, even upon seeing the freaky dentist tools that were about to be used on my precious gums. Next thing I know I am waking up from a pleasant dream and being whisked home. If I had only know it would be such a breeze! Which is why I am sharing with you now. I had a couple teeth surgically extracted about a month ago. I honestly do not remember a single thing from that visit, so I will go off of my consult and my follow up. One thing I do have to say is that last time I had the procedure to clean out the infection. The other dentist did not do a consult or give me any choices on what to do, like Dr Stettler did. The staff went over the expense with me and since I did not have insurance they showed me a kind of insurance/discount card and it brought down the price a lot.---That was very helpful for me. OHMYGOD!!! I cannot tell you how much surgery freaks me out!!! I was recommended to Dr Stettler by my new dentist and I could not be happier. From the first visit (the consultation) Dr. Stettler put me at ease. He explained everything perfectly and made sure I felt comfortable and answered all my questions (and I had probably around 20 or so questions). I'm also grateful that my insurance covered nearly the whole bill. I had two wisdom teeth extracted and one was impacted. I suggest you follow the aftercare instructions because I messed up somewhere along the way and got dry socket. However, he did have me come in several times for that issue! Almost 3 weeks after the procedure, I must say, this guy did a great job. I had a bit of jaw pain from the lidocaine, but it didn't set in until the 2nd or 3rd day. Hmm... well my experience was far better than Amy C's... of course, I didnt visit the "torlet", so I cant comment on the condition of the commode. What I can say is that I had a favorable consultation with Dr. Stettler. And yeah, I saw the video - the same video that I saw the last time I had a wisdom tooth pulled. So its customary. I thought Dr. Stettler was thorough and pleasant, and I felt confident when I returned for my surgery. I don't know where they hid the teens on my visit. I found the office staff to be friendly and professional, I found the office to be friendly and warm. But I WILL agree that the expeditious way in which they ushered me in one door and out the back WAS pretty amusing. That being said, it was a great visit all around, the surgery was fast and painless, the follow up was thorough, and if I HAD any more wisdom teeth, I'd surely let Dr. Stettler and his staff have at them! My son recently had all four wisdom teeth extracted via sedation. We were initially told that he would recover within 1-3 days post procedure, however, that time frame changed to a week after the procedure was completed (without explanation). Frankly, I wasn't happy about the cost ($685) like others, but I can afford it so I can't complain much. It was quoted to me prior to the procedure and I had an opportunity to find another dentist. My main complaint is that I called the office today to complain of a post operation infection that I sought care for in the emergency room (as my son complained in the middle of the night). The receptionist told me that she's "never heard" of the symptoms I described and told me to forward the lab work to the office for review. "IF" the doctor felt it was related to the surgery, he would like to see my son again! So, this is where I object to the cost and post operation instructions. $685 (not to mention the insurance payment) doesn't buy my son a follow-up visit with the dentist when he has a post operation infection already deemed to be related to the procedure by a medical doctor!! Now we have an additional $1000 in medical bills, not to mention more antibiotics and pain medication and Dr. Stettler isn't willing to see my son??? Unbelievable. I will forward my son's medical charts to the appropriate agency to inquire about the proper procedure regarding follow-up appointments. To add insult to injury, the receptionist told me to make sure I "call them back" to remind them about my son's condition because they may not contact me after they receive his lab work?! As a parent, I would not recommend this office to anyone! 1-3 days of recovery, not even close. My son has missed a total of 7 days from school and is fighting an infection that his physician has to figure out without the help of the doctor that performed the procedure! read more

As someone who works in the medical field. I understand the dynamics of getting a hold of insurance and benefits for a patient. My husband was referred to this oral surgeon by our dentist. On the day of his appointment they called him an hour before his appointment to say that they couldn't see him because they couldn't get a hold of our insurance. That was irritating because you should do that before the day of the patent's appointment. Second thing was they never called him back like they said or even updated him on the insurance status. I called a week after and was real professional about the situation. The lady who handles authorizations was busy and would call me back. Well 7 days later and they have not reached us. I'm sure the Doctor is good but if your staff is not doing their job as they should. Patients will assume that your the same. I would never refer a family member here. The staff need to be more professional and sensitive to patients situations. read more

So far the procedures were good. But oh the billing, now I'm responsible for $600 when I have 2 kinds of dental insurance? Originally recommended by my orthodontist to get a frenectomy. Upon consultation with Dr. Stettler , he also recommended a fiberotomy with it. I said fiberotomy is cool as long as I don't have to pay nada for this and my insurance covers it. It's like when you buy a shoe and they come up with a "do you want a shoe polish or shoe brush" with your purchase. I said sure, but only if it's free. Low and behold, my insurance does not cover the fiberotomy. After speaking with Keenia in billing days before the procedure to square away the insurance and her assuring me everything was good to go, I'm not sure where I misunderstood the whole conversation. And they also billed my insurance a panoramic xray that was not done. We agreed that my orthodontist's panorex was current enough to use. What a bunch of scheming sharks!! Beware! I have to say Dr. Stettler was good as far as the procedures go but his billing dept, oy vey!! It's like putting the Ritz Carlton right smack in the Tenderloin district. Really pulls Dr. Stettler down. He does good work and I had no problems with fiberotomy as far as my health goes, just the billing headache. Update as of 12/09 : After a year of their billing dept haggling with my insurance, the insurance just finally paid. Except for the pano xray, which I refused at the office since I used my orthodontist's xray instead and the insurance did not want to pay also. Billing on the other hand, kept billing the pano. I told them for a third time that the pano was not done at the time of procedure bec. my orthodontist furnished them with a copy. Finally, they got it! No more bills for me!! I ended up paying nothing as originally agreed upon, after a YEAR. I also noticed that when I came back in for a follow up on the situation it was a different lady at the front desk who was handling my issue. Maybe their service has gotten better, not sure if the other lady I was dealing with left or what. read more

Great dentist! Had the last of my wisdom teeth extracted 4 days ago and so far so good! I was nervous because in my early 20's I had wisdom teeth pulled at another dentist under anesthesia and I woke up in the middle of surgery! This did not happen with Dr. Stettler..he knows his stuff! When I was done I recovered pretty smooth and was pain free. A few hours later I got a call from their office to check up on me and a couple hours after that Dr. Stettler personally called me to make sure I was doing okay and asked if I had any questions or concerns. The staff is awfully rude! Especially the office manager. Not accommodating at all, not able to listen to anything I had to say to explain the situation, not willing to help, and not even courteous. I got a feeling that she thought I was lying about something and was trying to catch me. Not a good feeling at all!
