I've been visiting several different Randalls stores lately to get a feel for the different locations, vibes, and discount deals. One thing I appreciate right away: they're open until 11PM every night. So if you suddenly need milk, sugar, or something random late at night, you don't have to knock on your neighbor's door in pajamas and make things weird. But what I've really gotten into is what I call "clearance shopping." Randalls has a surprising number of items marked 50% off, usually because they're close to expiration, seasonal, or being discontinued. I've found great deals on sandwich meats, cheeses, chicken breasts & thighs, beef, hamburger, pork, bacon, yogurt, frozen meals, ice cream, and more. I don't have kids, so I'm only shopping for myself, and I've managed to fill my freezer to capacity. Their meat deals can be especially good. They often run buy-one-get-two-free promotions, and if you check the price per pound, they are very reasonable and competitive. In regards to 50% off examples I've scored large marinated chicken breast for under $3, enough 85/15 ground beef for a couple of patties for around $4 or less, and single marinated salmon fillets for about $3 - you easily pay $15+ at the local restaurants here. At those prices, even a vegetarian might briefly reconsider. They also have a solid wine selection with plenty of markdowns and digital coupon deals. I did some research and some markdowns are better than Costco offerings. Downloading the Randalls app is a must because you can clip coupons that come off automatically at checkout. The app also tracks your purchases and gives you occasional rewards, which adds up if you shop there regularly. Unfortunately I find the recent updates version is not as intuitive to navigate and find the digital coupons but the staff is aware of this and are always willing to help you. Now, I did recently read one of those articles saying we should avoid processed meats, donuts, frozen dinners, and fried foods. Unfortunately, Randalls keeps putting many of those things in the 50% off section, and my willpower is apparently also 50% off. Any leftover donuts and pastries are discounted to $1-$2 for a 6 or 10 pack. I mean come on now. Homer Simpson would go nuts and it's hard to restrain myself. I find this location, along with the Mesa store offers the best donut and pastry deals I've seen. The Ben White location recently changed their butchered meat discount from 50% to 30% so I do not buy meat there anymore. The staff here are all very nice, helpful, and professional. I've become a familiar face at this point, especially because clearance items usually need an associate to approve the discount at self-checkout. If you have a lot of marked-down items, it can take a little extra time, but they've always been patient and polite about it. If you go through the cashier it is much quicker. But make sure to keep an eye on the register because system mistakes do happen more frequently than not but the staff are very good about correcting it. Overall, I really like this Randalls as it's a great spot for late-night grocery runs, solid app deals, and surprisingly great clearance finds - which is catching fire as the other day I overheard a dad and his son calling it a treasure hunt. So if you like hunting for bargains, bring freezer space and self-control. Preferably more of the first than the second. read more

I had one of the best grocery and butcher experiences I've ever had at this Randalls, specifically at the butcher counter. I called ahead before making the 30-minute drive to check on inventory (eggs & chicken breast). The person I spoke to over the phone was super kind and patient, letting me know that there was plenty of chicken in stock and that if I arrived within the next hour, eggs should still be good. When I came in, Alex M (I think he might have also been the person on the phone) was just as helpful! I placed my usual order of 10 lbs of chicken breast plus thighs and he was happy to help and made the whole process easy. What also really impressed me was the butchering quality and prep I noticed when I was unbagging it when I got home. Hands down better than other Randalls locations I've been to. There was no extra skin or fat tossed into the bags, and even if there were a couple pieces of fat left in the tray, he didn't throw them in "just because." Everything was clean and relatively well-trimmed. After helping me at the counter, he was stocking the packaged meat section and noticed I'd been there for quite a while roaming around deciding what I wanted to get. He checked in again to see if I needed anything else, and he ended up recommending the tri-tip that was on sale that day. He even gave me great ideas for how to prep and cook it. If I could give 10 stars, I would! The floral department at Randall's in West Lake Hills has always been stellar, but today Fiona went above and beyond. I needed a few quick, simple arrangements for a lunch meeting. She had just put out some small flower cans that already looked great, but instead of letting me take them as-is, Fiona took the time to thoughtfully rearrange each one and add a few extra blooms. My husband and I decided to pick up some sweets from Randalls. We found parking in the lot as we went early in the morning. We found all of the sweets in the designated area. We bought some chocolate chip cookies and a half pumpkin and half pecan pie. As we went to the self checkout it was easy. The store has changed the self checkout layout and there are now more available places for people to pay. I like the new layout as it moves quickly. After checking out we went home. We packed up our sweets and brought them with us on our family trip. I ate a slither of pumpkin which was soft and flavorful. I ate a slither of pecan which was delicious as the filling was sweet and the pecans were perfect. I also tried a chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chunks were a good size and spread around the cookies. All of the sweets were really good. Overall Randalls is a good grocery store with a lot of food options. It's easy to find what you need and the self checkout is easy and quick. read more

While large in size, there is a reason there is usually plenty of parking and no lines here. If grocery stores had a vibe this would be a soggy rotting cod fish. It is primarily stocked with toxic, chemical laden packaged foods. The produce looks terrible. The last time I went in with my daughter, a group of execs were standing by the entrance and just looked at us. Interestingly, a white guy walked in after us and they all greeted him. There is a Starbucks inside though if the one outside next to it is too busy. read more

I frequent this location due to its proximity to my office. Nothing spectacular, which is fine. Typically clean, never too long of a wait for cashiers or self checkout. What's underwhelming is the lack of stocking during the day. They have weekly sales, which a lot of times are great. They could do a better job of keeping these sales item stocked. If you don't go in the morning, the shelves with sales items are near empty. read more

I did see they also had a gift mall I love it. Selection for other items are small. I only recommend if they bring in more food items many are GMO food products. If you use the deals in the app, Randalls can be a lot cheaper than HEB. They also have amazing 50% off deals throughout the store. I love HEB, but Randalls has a much better shopping experience due to less people in the store (I get anxiety facing the HEB crowds during peak times). Conclusion: I have decided that I want to shop here as my primary store. The customer service is also top notch and I love all of the other stores in this area. read more

This is Randall's Flagship store. I have been in there a few times just to buy a few random things. I think the store has a variety of things. The aisles are on the smaller side which can be annoying when people don't stay to one side of another. I had no problem getting in or out the few times i have been here. read more

Randalls is the only grocery store to carry Lucerne milk, and for cheap too. During the pandemic when milk was six dollars. Randalls had the best milk on the market for less than three dollars. Now I can drink any other brand of milk. This location is special. They have half a dozen donuts for two dollars. After 7pm I believe. It's worth a trip just for the milk and donuts. read more

This Randall's is definitely organized much differently than the two near my home. I shopped here since I was in the area and needed a few items. The store is big and busy with shoppers. The cashier was nice and was not a problem with parking. The store inside was clean and had a more luxurious feel versus their competition. Great People, this is about mainly the self checkout area, the self checkout area is a traffic jam disaster, with more than 2 people waiting, for one of the 4 units, the 4 units are separated by a large barrier, so they are separated, and folks pile up in the aisle waiting to get to one of the 4 units, multiple checkers working without their lite on, So you look down range to get away from the mess in the self checkout, and see that there are one or two lights on, but as you leave the traffic jam with you stuff, several checkers are working with their lights off, What's up with that ? Needs rearranging, what a pain, store not even that busy. read more

This was the first time in years that I went to Randall's. I stopped for sole basic items and found the selection underwhelming. The deli staff were nice and prompt. The cashier was not friendly and heads up they make you bag your own groceries if you brought your reusable bags. I found this odd, but I'm completely capable of bagging my own items. Wonderful staff. Miss Marva is always a joy to encounter on the checkout lines in the mornings, ditto the Starbucks staff. Also, Mr Theodore is always friendly and ready to assist. Everyone from the baggers to the cashiers makes a point of making this feel like a local shop rather than some faceless chain. I echo the praise of others for the Pharmacy team, Billy and Troy know their customers by name and go out of their way to make life easier. I apologise for not knowing their last names, but their professionalism is greatly appreciated. They both really go the extra mile to care for their patients. Even when the insurance companies are being difficult the staff here will suggest solutions. Thankful we have such a local gem on our doorstep. read more

You only get the 3rd star because I know for a fact that you willingly support local schools and non-profits above and beyond the store's standard good neighbor program. I wish every business were that supportive of their community. That being said, you have seriously got to do something about your supplier. The produce here is beyond bad, often over ripe or already turning brown. We recently came home with rancid meat, too. I realize you've got competition now, but skimping on quality will not win you any new customers or retain the few you have left. As your consumer, I like the lower pricing. But I'm pretty much down to pantry items and the occassional after 9pm wine buy. For me, you've become an inconvenient convenience store. read more

I come to this Randall's all the time because it's very close to my house and quite convenient. You'll hear the same things from other people "Higher prices, nicer employees"... at least you should. The people working here are very friendly and work hard to please their customers. Yeah, occasionally I'll go to HEB because their prices are better, or maybe they'll have more variety, but I love Randalls. The people working at the pharmacy are always friendly, and they also have a Starbucks when you walk in to the left. read more

The thing I like best about this Flagship Randall's is it is very clean and nice and relatively uncrowded and peaceful. Sometimes I need peace in my grocery store experience. And it's on my way to and from work. So if I need one or two items, I like to stop here and grab them quickly instead of fighting the crowds to park and check out at HEB in Westlake. Their prices are usually higher than HEB by a nominal amount unless they are having a Remarkable card discount. And you must get a Remarkable card, otherwise you are just screwing yourself over. Their beer selection leaves something to be desired, which I discovered recently. Look for the clearance tags around the store and you can score some good deals on things from time to time (case in point: seasonal Beanie Boos for 50% off, eyeliner for 50% off, etc.). read more

Its overpriced, not a good generic brand choice (I need my Hill Country Fare!!!!), and I HATE that I have to have a Randalls card in order to get discounts..... Holy crap this place is awesome! Randall's on Bee Caves is NEVER excessively busy, and parking is always abundant, even at peak times. The produce is amazing, they have a great selection of organic and conventional produce, their bulk items are THE BOMB, the coffee beans are totally decent and the deli is great too. Prices are slightly higher than HEB, but a Randall's card really does yield some good savings. When we first moved to Austin, we were shopping INSANELY crowded at the HEB at Congress & Oltorf *shudder* Since discovering this gem, we don't have to strategize for grocery shopping like a GD military operation. Darn, I wish I had an HEB close by! This store is expensive and rarely has good produce. When my daughter was an infant, a woman actually stopped me in the store to lecture me about how I shouldn't shop here because it was too expensive. Now, why people think because you have an infant in your arms means they can lecture you is another topic. But, in this case she was right. It's as if I actually hear angels singing as I pull in to this Randall's parking lot. I don't know why shopping anyplace else in Austin is such a disaster, but not here. I park in the space closest to the door. There are no lines. Just cashiers patiently waiting by their registers, ready to assist. The aisles are clear and I do not feel like I am making my way through Thunderdome. They have all my favorite things, that are bizarrely absent at other stores. I have been shopping here for ages. They have pretty much a captive audience for those of us living near Bee Caves Rd./MoPac/Westlake up near town. It is pretty much a standard big box grocery store, and every now and then you'll find good markdowns IF you have a Randall's card. The pharmacy staff is very friendly and helpful, but the rest of the store is just average. A few things stand out, though: they have a little alcove near the produce and the in-store Starbuck's with tables and chairs, which is a nice place to chill; a huge selection of frozen stuff; and the very most annoying thing I've experienced in a grocery: they keep moving everything around. Majorly. About five or six years ago, after I had memorized where everything was, they re-arranged the store. So I had to learn it all over again. Well guess what... they're at it again. This store is, on balance, a good deal better than most in Austin, which means miles better than you'd find in most of the country. Spacious, attractive and mercifully designed, unlike the increasingly casino-like mazes most markets have implemented (where you all but careen straight into the products they want to sell), always impeccably clean, and the selection they have is generally great (wine in particular). But I'm writing a review about a grocery store for one reason: because this store has an amazing pharmacy! While its peers in the pharmacy business work tirelessly to reduce service and increase lines until indistinguishable from a DMV or busy IRS office (just brighter and less friendly staff when you get to the windows), Randall's is going the other way. In particular, I wouldn't be surprised if one of their unusually thoughtful and attentive pharmacists, Billy (sp?), is canonized one day as the "Patron Saint of Pharmacies that actually Care for their Customers". He's genuinely friendly, and I can't count the number of times he used his knowledge of my or my girlfriend's history to save us time, money, and help us make better choices. That said, if you crave a good dose of abuse with your prescriptions and enjoy paying to stand in a modern Soviet era bread line (replete with gulag style service), and then be greeted as though you snuck through the door at 10-min past close with a lawn & leaf bag full of coupons! Randalls' prices are usually higher than others. Plus, you need a Randalls card to get their discounts. I've literally asked for a Randalls card five times I've been there and have never gotten one. Maybe it's like a super secret club? My biggest complaint is their customer service. I work in the Westlake area. I don't live there and I don't look like I belong there, so it takes forever for me to get served. I've waited in line at the deli to only have other people who arrived after me get served first. I work one block from the Randalls, but I will drive the extra distance to get to Trader Joe's or HEB. I've pretty much boycotted Randalls. read more

ACTUALLY I AM A PICKY SHOPPER!!! and this is a very good store. I comparison shop and prices are exactly like HEB and no where near as expensive as Whole Foods. Also they offer a variety of brands as opposed to HEB and WFM. The staff are always friendly and helpful... They have gone out of their way to improve the produce so give them a break. My main complaint? Poor webpage.. Randalls in other cities have excellent webpages that are interactive and inclusive. I should be able to go on the webpage and see what wines are available, what milk is offered, what types coffee... This is the 21st century and web page should reflect that. Twice now I have tried to stop by in the morning and get some quick breakfast items. Both times there has been only one cashier and one or two big carts in the line So I left my items on the display, have fun putting them back, and left the store. Today was the worst because thee were three employees by the sevice center just bull$hitting away, joined by a fourth. Even when I stared at them (I'm so edgy!!) they just kept at it. What a bunch of spoiled employees. I own my business, you know I'd fired them on the spot. I guess they can afford it as they are in westlake ($$) and can afford to have higher prices. If they are lame in the small things, they are probably lame in the big things. I'll have to find something in my hood on the way to my clients in Westlake, too bad, it was very convinient. read more

This Randall's hasto be the best in Austin! That being said, it is a Randalls. Their clearance is awesome and this one has a great organics section. Also a huge wine selection. The produce is disappointing to say the least and the baked goods are so full of processed foods it makes me sick to my stomach. Very poor service at the register tonight. My cashier was Katelyn W. She did not acknowledge my presence one time, she didnt even let me know she was done ringing me up and never told me the total cost. She was chatting with the bagger the entire time about baby names. She did not say hello when I walked up, didnt look at me once, and didnt thank me for my business when I left. I worked in the service industry for years when in college. I know what good service looks like, this was certainly not it. I will be going down the street to HEB now. read more

I would like to preface this review by saying that there is nothing particularly wrong with the grocery store as a whole. This location is just down the street from my work so I visit this location in the morning before work to get breakfast items. For a while I continued to go even though their pastries tended to leave me wanting. Over time they became more and more inedible. The last time I visited (for bakery items) was the last time because I arrived to find multiple packages of burnt muffins on display for sale. They were attempting to charge for BURNT muffins. Now, I have no issue with Randall's stores as a whole. For this reason I would like to point out that the bakery section of the William Cannon & Mopac location is exceptional. Strange to think they are the same company and shoot to provide the same products on display. read more
