I started a shopping list and was initially pleased at the number of items with coupons or discounts. I figured, what the heck, I will give it a shot. It was a shot alright, to my ass. I should have stopped the minute the shopping list checkout had an "estimated" total. But I went ahead. After all, the receipt said the curbside service was FREE. We'll, it is not. By a long shot. This is a classic case of bait and switch. I realized there was a probkem when I saw what I was charged for salmon vs. The price tag on the salmon labal was $22.16. But I was charged $26.19. AN EXTRA $4.03! A markup of MORE THAN 18 percent! Surely, this was an error. But when I went to customer service, I had the feeling of being "the same old story" total the clerk. Just another idiot who thought "FREE" meant "free" and didnt read the fine print. With a sigh, she told me that for using the pickup service, there is a 4% markup on items. But that is just the beginning. The small print is a mind-numbing trip into Misleadingland. Basically, even with all the "online only" discounts (thd bait), HEB will slap on extra fees for a litany of reasons. In essence, there is no way to know what you will be charged until you place the order. In my case, it was nearly $40 more than what had been "estimated" on the initial order. Bottom line, if yoh shop at HEB, grab a cart and do it yourself. Bring coupons and look for others on the shelves. Don't fall for the "FREE" curbside pickup. It is an absolute, freaking scam Oh, here are the details about the fine print: H-E-B generally charges higher prices (a markup) on groceries ordered online for store pickup (Curbside) compared to in-store shopping. H-E-B's own help pages and terms explicitly state that online prices may vary from ads or in-store prices. Their terms note that prices at physical stores "may vary from the prices listed on the Service," and shopping list notes on the site/app indicate that prices can differ by "fulfillment method" (in-store vs. curbside or delivery) to "support" their "partners/services." In 2021, H-E-B publicly confirmed (via official replies on X/Twitter) an "up to a 3% item charge on each item to help cover the cost of the [Curbside/Delivery] program," separate from any personal shopper fee. More recent reporting and customer comparisons (including a 2025 Houston Chronicle article) continue to show higher prices for the same items when ordered for Curbside. In one example at an Austin store, a small set of items totaled about $35.61 for Curbside versus $32.66 in-store (a difference of roughly $3, or several cents more per item on products like onigiri and chorizo). H-E-B's response was that prices "may vary from online and in store" to support digital services, while still aiming to remain competitively priced. My dr called it into HEB, however, with my insurance, it was going to be $105! That's a lot for me, especially after buying necessary things for my new house. My dr had sent a discount coupon but HEB didn't take it; and the other coupons my dr office found also didn't provide much (if any) discount for my rx. So they told me to contact Randalls as one of the coupons listed the price at different places and Randalls was the cheapest (HEB was the most expensive). Upon calling them, they set up an account for me then called HEB to have my prescription transferred over. They let me know they would call me when it was ready. I didn't hear anything until I called 2 days later. They let me know it was ready so I jumped out of bed and went to pick it up. When I arrived there was no ones else there. I stood at the wait here sign for 5-10 minutes without any acknowledgement while several people behind the counter went about their business. A woman finally came to the front saying she couldn't see me. Maybe she couldn't, but what about the guy who stood consistently in eye line sight of me?? But once she came to assist me, she was friendly and it was a quick and easy process. In the future, I will check the price of rxs here alongside HEB.

Of course, its primary purpose is that of being a pharmacy. Back in the day it was a tiny, intimate place. Now, the space is about half pharmacy and half everything else. Moreover, it appears to be 4X in size to the previous location. You can find just about anything you could possibly want in the Tarrytown pharmacy...prescription and over-the-counter drugs, decorations, clothing, toys, skincare, puzzles, cards, to name just a few. I ended up buying a greeting card and spending time just admiring the growth and diversity of items in the store. The cashier was friendly and offered me a complimentary gift bag. Tarrytown Pharmacy is way more than a pharmacy!

When trying to apply a manufacturers coupon to my RX, Chris was unable to apply the coupon. When I called back and interacted with a woman (maybe Alyssa or karissa can't remember exactly) she was extremely helpful and got my coupon applied. It was then fast and easy to pick up my RX later that day and be charged the price quoted to me over the phone once my coupon was applied. Because it was my first time at the pharmacy I did have to engage in a brief review of the medication with the pharmacist but that was quick and easy. I am hopeful this pharmacy will continue to be able to fill my RX with my coupon in the future. Again, quick and helpful technicians. Very happy with my experience.
