I wasn't feeling particularly anxious, but I was told it was free, so I agreed. I was quickly given paperwork to sign, which I did willingly, though I should have taken more time to read it. What was not explained to me verbally was that this involved an injection in my neck. When I realized that, I froze but went along with it. After the injection, I was told the doctor is writing a paper on this procedure and was then asked whether it helped my anxiety, which immediately made me uncomfortable and made me feel like a test subject rather than a patient. Later, when reviewing the consent, I saw listed risks such as temporary phrenic nerve blockage and infection, risks that were never clearly explained beforehand. Instead, it was described very casually as "feeling like having a mimosa." When I called with concerns, the staff were kind and understanding, but I was told I would know if something went wrong because I'd have extreme difficulty breathing. I wish that risk had been communicated before the procedure, not AFTER. The staff were friendly overall and there were no complications, but the lack of transparency and how casually this was presented felt unethical to me as a patient. While I did sign the paperwork and take responsibility for that, clearer verbal communication and informed consent would have made a huge difference.

They are the ones that told me I over paid and would have to get Aspen to pay me back. I used 2 ways to pay. I had to finance a portion with Care credit. It was 8 months of dealing with Aspen getting a receipt that FSA would take. Then it hit me. They owed me 1100 and then it was 3 weeks of trying to get my money back. Finally Aspen sent the money to care credit and not the flex spending card. When I asked why they didn't tell me I had a large overpayment they said they thought I would just let the money stay in their account until I had more dental work done. Could not believe how shitty I was treated. On top of it the care credit was paid off so I had to wait another 7 days for The money back. They owe me interest! NEVER GO THERE. I needed a tooth pulled badly and was terrified of the IV sedation, as I'm so not good with needles. I was so desperate in pain for weeks trying to find a place that could do the extraction quickly and would take my insurance. Exo Dental got me in next day!!! The staff could probably tell how anxious I was, from the front staff to the nurses to Dr. McDonald, I was only met with exceptional care. I told them how nervous I was about the IV and Dr. McDonald assured me they could even do the extraction with just laughing gas. I was so relieved, and the extraction took literally 2 seconds and I didn't feel a thing. I was stunned, I've never been met with such great and personalized care from a dentist office before. The entire extraction appointment maybe took 1 hour, but the actual dental work took less than 1 minute. I couldn't believe an appointment I was terrified of coming to, I found myself extremely calm and even laughing with the nurses during the appointment.
