The road in is newly paved and takes you around the back of the building. Big rig parking is by the highway with a pedestrian walkway up to the building. The parking lot is a fair size with no EV charging station (yet) and two handicap spaces. A small pavillion directly across from parking covers three picnic tables. Another 3 are nestled under the trees to the left. Several Adirondack style seats across the lawn overlook the road and view beyond. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The building is small but contains a lot of tourist information on the walls, brochures to take and a volunteer to help. Hot coffee is available, two drink vending machines and one snack vending machine as well as water fountains. Clean mens/ladies rooms and two family bathrooms are located behind a display wall to the left as you enter the building. An information desk is straight ahead. This facility reclaims it's waste water and the process is open to the public in their Living Machine greenhouse area. It's very tropical with a bounty of lush, warm weather plants. Thankfully, it didn't smell like waste water in there. :) Also on site is a large Veterans Memorial, originally opened in 1982. There are several informational displays around the property regarding VT's military history. The memorial is a lovely, quiet space for reflection. A dog walking area is located on the opposite side of the parking lot with waste bags available for your convenience. Furry family members are not allowed inside the building. A volunteer was monitoring the parking area, keeping it tidy. This is a beautiful rest stop with space for kids to run, picnic areas, seats with a view, a memorial and some waste water science. If all you need is a quick pit stop they got you covered. If you have time to roam, they've got you covered there too.

There is also the added benefit for people interested in history or the military in that it honors the Vermonters who served and lost their lives in the Vietnam War. There is a memorial that lists all of their names, and includes some additional information about that time. Additionally, there is a greenhouse garden you can walk through (although just as a heads up, it smells pretty rough in there since you're in a greenhouse. If you've ever been in one before, you'll know what I'm talking about). Overall, it is a very pretty location and there are some benches and Adirondack chairs to sit on outside for when the weather is nice. My family would stop there every year on our way up to Stowe, VT and chose that stop over others because of the Vietnam memorial since my dad served at that time. Lots of space to sit and chill. I saw few people working remotely from the center. There are lots of information about Vermont's history, nature and tourism. They also offer free coffee. There are multiple restrooms, some in the front and others in the back. There are two vending machines, one for drinks and the other for snacks. The outside area is also very neat and clean. They have picnic tables in front of the parking spots.

Williston North serves travelers to Burlington, Chittenden County and points north. Vermont is a state unlike any other. Then again, this can probably be said about all the states…read more Each has something unique to offer. The state is up north and its claim to fame is maple syrup. That and the tons and tons of snow it gets during the winter. Or at the very least that's why we went. We wanted to experience it firsthand. We stopped at the welcome center and learned quite a bit. There are pamphlets everywhere. Charts, too, depicting who is from the state, who died from the military, and even movies made in the state. Did you know that Beetlejuice was filmed there? Other than that, I cannot say much. There are bathrooms, but I did not use them. There is coffee, but I did not have any. Oh, and there are soda machines for snacks. Come to think about it, there were attendants, but they were having a cup of coffee. Then again, it was Christmas Eve and it was in the teens. I really didn't notice them until the end. This is just a tranquil place that you can go at your own pace. Feels attendants are there just in case.

From the main lodge are a couple of very short and slow lifts that take you up to areas which give you access to additional lifts. I really liked the variety of runs and that it wasn't overcrowded. I would love to try some of the other sections of the mountain in the future. The terrain park looks fun (if you're into that). My only complaint was how slow most of the lifts are... but that didn't detract much from my overall experience.

I have skied Okemo Mountain Resort several times during my road trips to Vermont. Okemo is part of…read morethe Epic Pass resorts owned by Vail which means that if you buy a pass early you can get skiing a reasonable rate, in 2026 the multiday pass was about $75 a day. Getting to the resort is easy, it is located just off the main street of Ludlow, Vt., which was about a 30 minute drive from where we were staying in Londonderry, Vt. There are a number of parking lots; both days we arrived early so we had a choice of the 2 free lots near the base area. Equipment drop off is easy and the walk from the lots is not too far. The biggest issue is to get through the resort to the base lodge entails quite a lot of stairs. The lodge itself is what you would expect, nothing fancy but more than serviceable. The restrooms and changing areas are downstairs, which is made a bit harder by the angled staircase, which can be a bit challenging when you are in ski boots. The changing areas have seasonal lockers, rental lockers and free racks for bag storage which is appreciated. At the base lodge you have 2 lifts that take you up the beginner area and allows you to access the rest of the mountain. The main lift for the main face is a high speed 6 pack with ubble covers for the chairs. From the top you can make it to the other areas of the mountain. We skied all of the areas of the resort the Main Face, the South Face, Solitude and Jackson Gore. Okemo is great for cruising the Blues and groomed Black runs. Even though the conditions were icy and not everything was open Okemo provides plenty of variety and skiing. I really enjoy skiing at Okemo, the mountain is pretty easy to navigate. There are a wide variety of runs especially for intermediate skiers. A really fun and enjoyable couple of days skiing.

I had to go out two times to tell Sam we had ran out of coffee and omelettes. Again just like Megan was with an attitude. We had just stayed at Niagara Falls and they had superb customer service. Oddly enough there are tip QR codes everywhere you look. Well if they deserved it ---of course.
