I've been coming to this salon for 5 years and I'll never leave. Went out on a limb after seeing one of the stylists posts on social media and loved her work. Had Rachel Miller (Carter) do my big hair chop back in 2017 and I've been seeing her regularly for cuts and color since then. Rachel is warm, welcoming, really makes an effort to get to know her clients and make them feel comfortable in her chair. I've left that salon on multiple occasions teary-eyed feeling so beautiful and confident. Now I just walk into my appointments and trust Rachel to just make my hair look good because she knows what I like. I've always left happy. Love that they use redken and pureology products on me. Spent wayyy to much money for what I got done. Hair highlights that barley were bright! And was NOT the color I wanted! The stylist didn't keep the bleach on my hair long enough! After mentioning it to her she said let's wash and see how it looks after, and we can fix it if needed. Later I found out I would have to still pay for applying color a 2nd time to "fix it". Hair stylists not giving me all the information and not keeping product on long enough isn't a customer's fault. I got a haircut by Olivia last week. It ended up looking nothing like I asked for. She wanted to cut it dry so never washed my hair or got it wet at all, then once she saw how bad it looked she asked if I wanted her to add some curls or beach waves (she never used heat protection or any product at all in my hair). I said sure thinking it couldn't get worse but it did, I walked out looking and feeling so bad I went home immediately and showered to hopefully make it look better myself but I couldn't. Now I'm going on vacation feeling ridiculous and there's no fixing it because she already went 2-3 inches shorter than I asked for. read more

My experience with Linda Putnam at this salon has been life changing. I was referred to Linda by the very woman who opened up the salon long ago (long story!) and boy do I owe her. I lost 50% of my hair due to untreated thyroid issues. I lost my natural curls, as well. Since I was used to a head full of very tight, corkscrew curly hair, I was at a loss as to how to work with my new, lifeless hair. Nothing worked. Depressed, I avoided looking into mirrors as much as possible. I cried. I lost hope. That is, until I met with Linda and experienced her expertise. She made a world of difference. I had my appointment booked with Rachel ( Who's portfolio was my favorite out of all the stylists). She was very warm and welcoming when I met her for the first time. After Tricho salon novi RUINED my hair I was reluctant to go in and have my hair done again. They scheduled me with Paige. Upon arriving to randolphs I was greeted at the front. The salon is very clean and takes all proper safety measures against covid. Then Paige came out and greeted me and sat me down in her chair. She thoroughly went through my hair explained what went wrong previously. We then talked about what she could realistically do to fix the damage that was done by the other salon/stylist. She far exceeded my expectations!!!!! She was kind and empathetic and took her time! I absolutely am in love with it!!! She's amazing!!!! I already have 2 more appointments booked with her! I am a perpetual nomad of hair salons. I tend to never be satisfied, and unlike many girls, I really don't mind lopping my hair off on a regular basis. This is not a place I will be returning to when I get bored and decide chopping my locks off is a good filler. I saw this place a few times, and it looked ritzy enough (by the way, I'm a snob when it comes to how salons look. If I'm shelling out $40+ to have my hair cut, it better be fancy.). They also moved their location closer to home, so I figured I'd give it a try one Saturday. First off, I walk into this place, and since it's early in the day on the weekend, I was donning a pair of flip flops and leggings (a shirt, too, of course). I was greeted by looks of dismay from the catty receptionist... apparently my Jcrew leggings aren't classy enough for this nearly empty salon in White Lake, of all places. I sit down and glance around, which makes me start to feel a little bit secure about losing some inches here; it's nice... kind of upscale feeling, dimly lit, and modern. However, it was completely empty with about 5 stylists just sitting around, shooting the breeze. Finally, my stylist comes over to greet me (can't remember her name), and she mumbles to me to sit in the chair to get my hair washed. She kind of haphazardly washes my hair and puts about a pea sized amount of conditioner in, which she decides takes 5 minutes to rinse out. From there, she mumbles to me again to show me where her station is. Ok, she's a mumbler. I tell her what I want, and she proceeds to kind of do her own thing. Not cool, Mumbler. NOT COOL. **Part of this review is left out due to the emotional trauma caused to the writer. ** In short (pun intended), I leave this place with a crooked, too-short bob, and what appears to be some demented form of awkward opera bangs. This was her interpretation of "heavy, long bangs like Zooey Deschanels, and trim my grown out bob to make it blunt and touch my shoulders." Like I mentioned, I'm not a crier when it comes to my hair... it's hair, it'll grow back. But the complete disregard for what I told her, and then ending up looking like I had Liz Lemon's haircut right before the premier of "Dealbreakers"? I have since recovered from this traumatic event, and have vowed to settle down with a nice stylist, and start a real relationship. read more

I have been to Randolph's for both a haircut and nails....and wasn't overly impressed with either. We recently moved and I am searching for a new "beauty home". This won't be it. I was specific about my hair, but clearly not specific enough. It will grow back, but in the meantime it will be headbands and hats for me! My shellac manicure was blah. I have been coming to Randolph's since it was at the location in Waterford to get my hair done for high school dances. I then became a regular client of Christina, who is a remarkable hair stylist with SO much talent and can virtually give me the exact results that I come in looking for! I have never had to sit around and wait when I come in to Randolph's, I tell them I have arrived and then I'm in the chair. It's the best feeling to be excited for a hair cut and it's even better knowing that your going to love it! Christina always tells me if I need to come back in a few days because something is not right or I want to trim up some other areas to just stop in. I come from a family of hair dressers (two aunts, one uncle and two sisters). When it comes to salons, it doesn't matter where you go, it's who it's with. I was skeptic about trying Randolphs, but my husband has been seeing Melanie for a while. I decided to give it a try. I've seen her for color, cut and brow waxing a few times now, and I've been completely happy every time. Melanie is a real pro. She's knowledgeable and professional, but is also friendly and has a great personality. Yes, I think it's dumb that you have to pay extra for a blow dry. That's a flaw in the business model from the owners. But I'd rather have a good color/cut job than dry hair. Melanie's the girl you want! read more

Usually go to the Randolph's Salon in Clarkston but decided to try the White Lake location because it was closer to home and immediately regretted my decision. My stylist did a fine job on my color but left me completely dissatisfied with my cut. I expressed to my stylist that I was trying to grow out my hair but if it needed to be trimmed I would deal with it. After my stylist expressed how dead my hair was at the ends I gave her permission to trim a good amount off the ends which I was ok with. Suddenly, after my stylist finished up trimming the ends she started hacking out the mid part of my hair saying it was thick and she wanted to get rid of the bulk.. Something I did not want to happen. As she cut away at my thick hair which I loved the expression on my face quickly turned somber. When the stylist noticed she said "Oh is this scaring you?" As she snipped away at my hair and I said yes very much! But she told me it would look a lot better if she did it and she kept on going. At this point tears were forming in my eyes and I reminded her that I was trying to grow out my hair... This is when I think she noticed how upset I was and tried telling me what she was doing was right and that my hair would just grow back with time.... Needless to say I never want to return to the salon again. read more

I have very fine long hair. like past my shoulders, it is partial blonde with brown mostly. I wanted Blonde highlights . ( just at the regrowth) and add some low lights, I told her to mix in low light with my existing low lights that I had .and add maybe a 6 nb for the low light. she said she would add 7 nb to it because it would be too dark. I went in, told her thoroughly about my hair, past expereince, how fragile it was. I thought I did a good job describing to her about my hair over all & my ends being porous. my hair growth at front of my head being fragile. also to not PUT ME UNDER THE DRYER!! this was my first time with her!! Well, she did put me under the dryer, twice, the first time for ten minutes, ( I didn't want to, but she persuaded me to do it for a short time to activate the bleach) second time after she washed it and put on 9 v with something else. the second time I adimantly refused to go under the dryer again:she said to me, "don't worry this will not damage your hair" Well, needless to say it did. I did get my whole refund back. I will never go to her again... ever. read more

This is my first and so far ONLY Yelp review! I had to Yelp about how awesome this place is, I contacted them THIS morning to book an appointment for my friend, whose 30th birthday party is tonight. I wanted to pay for my friend to get her makeup done for her party as her gift, since I live all the way in California and could not attend. It was easy as can be, I provided them with my info, they bought a gift card and said they would give it to her when she came in for the appointment. I was able to add the tip and everything. I was hesitant at first, since I am calling all the way from California and paying for something that hasn't even happened yet or for something that I didn't even know if it would be done well. So, anyhow, I get a picture text from my friend after her appointment saying she loved her makeup and the girl also did her hair for FREE! Just styling it, but still, she didn't need to do that but she did since she had extra time and it was my friend's birthday! The girl's name is Tamara and she deserves a FAT RAISE in my opinion, she went over and beyond and that is what it's all about. I feel bad that I don't live in Michigan anymore and could go to their salon more often but I will for sure keep this in mind, anytime I need any type of service for me or as a gift. Before I began seeing Dawn at Randolph's, I was a serial 'salon jumper'. I can be impulsive when it comes to getting my hair done and if I wake up and feel something needs to change, it needs to happen immediately, hence my choice to go anywhere that could fit me in that day. I've changed my tune since beginning to go to Randolph's a year ago, on one of those very same impulses ironically! I called Randolph's and the first person that could see me was Dawn, so I of course booked the appointment knowing nothing about her. I've returned every 8 weeks since regardless of whether I have to wait a few days in a moment of impulse. Dawn is nothing short of amazing, as is the salon itself. She works with me and has never left me leave unsatisfied. As long as I'm in this area, I will continue going to Randolph's! read more

I like the stylists a lot at Randolph's and that you get in promptly when you arrive for your appointment. I think they really care about making you feel good about your hair. Their product knowledge is good and helps in buying what you need and not what you don't! The atmosphere is relaxed, but I would like it better if the salon had a little more warmth and personality, and was more welcoming for the guest. I had my eyebrows waxed on 7/23/11 at the White Lake salon. I have been waxing my eyebrows for 10+ years and never had a problem before. While at Randolph's all of the skin below was eyebrows was burnt. I have HUGE scars under my eyebrows and it's painful and noticeable. I will never return to this salon.
