Right in between Shallots Asian Bistro and The Framery frame shop, there was this no-cover modern art gallery party in a now For-Lease space. That may sound welcoming, but it truly was not. It was a very pretentious crowd and walled by pretentious art. What I mean by that is, the person who made some (SOME) art pieces were probably more into the flashiness of showing their stuff at an art gallery than making high-concept and profound art. For instance, some photography was more about taking pictures from perceived-unique angles but really they did not pay attention to the subject of the picture. However, there was also an artist by the name of Michael Stevenson that reminded me of Bansky who made pictures entitled "Read" and "Consumer." "Consumer" was interesting because I think it tried to convey that we are all being measured and researched about and then categorized into homogeneous groups. Secondly, since this was an art exhibit in the day and some party gallery at night, I thought it was very funny to see a waitress (I think it was, otherwise the place was BYOB) walk around with a six pack of beer trying to sell it! Loud music with a live DJ, and a good chance to find some (relatively inexpensive) local, modern art. -Matt read more
