The Range is no longer available. I bought a new Mossberg 500 12-gauge shotgun there. It was priced the same as any other place in town. The birdshot ammo was priced decently. Some of the ammo for a shotgun such as buckshot and slug seemed overpriced. So, I just went online to buy the rest of my ammo with free shipping. They have a big selection of hunting gear etc. I did not look at it all. It is honestly hard for a small business to compete with retail giants on prices. I expected the clothing etc. to be overpriced so I did not bother even looking at it or cross referencing it with online. Talked to the employee about indoor shooting ranges and the closest is going to be Flowood or Hattiesburg for indoor ranges. Both at least an hour drive depending on where you are coming from and traffic. Not a huge selection of used firearms but they have a variety of firearms. Gave it 3 stars because they closed down the indoor range. It was the only indoor one available in the area. Will I go back? Maybe in a year or two. I am not a big shopper but when I do go shopping, I have no problem dropping a few thousand if I see something I want. Next process for me, is probably buying some land outside of Meridian and setting up my own range. Maybe in the next two years. Until then just a trip once a month to Lowes or Marvins for building projects around the house. Stay Salty! read more

Range at 601 - South Korea 2000-2002. M249, Bradley, Mechanized Infantry - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Meridian, Mississippi

While in town last week I visited this range to shoot handguns. After checking in we went to a couple of the lanes. I liked this place and thought it was of good quality. I noticed that at some distances your target may be not as well lit as at other distances. Also at each stall there is a floor grate designed to trap your spent brass. While this helps in keeping that area clear of spent brass it also means if you accidentally drop something it will go down in there. This will cause you to have to reach down into the grate to retrieve it or remove the grate. Ventilation seemed adequate. I enjoyed visiting this place and am sure Meridian appreciates having it here. read more

This place is under new ownership and Modern Outfitters has moved off to Texas. The new business is called "The Range at 601" and largely offers the same services as it did before minus the "Modern Carbine" high end (aka super crazy expensive) AR rifles that were offered previously. This also used to be one of the big LWRC dealers in the area but I don't see much activity or connection with LWRC at the new place or with the Modern Outfitters group that moved to Texas anymore. This is still a great gun store, range, bow and outdoor outfitting shop. read more

SOME of the staff is super friendly. But, as my friends and I were looking at shoes a worker approached us to ask if we needed help. We let her know we didn't and she very awkwardly stood there right next to us as we looked at shoes. We were in there 5 minutes and she followed us out of the area. She definitely stood there as to watch if we were stealing. I saw other people in the area before us and she wasn't watching them like a hawk. And yes, we were a group of brown people. Treat all your customers the same and your business could be great. read more

I understand that I look much younger than my age, but if I walk in to a store and tell someone that I'm shopping for a gun--and they don't even attempt to assist me--I'm not going to ask again. (I was the only customer outside of the shooting range, for the record). Maybe someone was having a bad day, but I did choose to purchase elsewhere. (My card gave their register no problem...) Otherwise, M.O. seemed like a nice store, complete with an indoor shooting range. Perhaps I will stop on a better day, next time. read more

I feel like these guys deserve more than than their current rating (around 3 stars). They've always been nice, helpful and easy to work with. I was about to purchase a RDS and the salesman told me to wait a week till the tax free weekend. He also put it under the counter to make sure I got one when the big weekend came around. I had some bow work done at the range they guys taking care of me were very knowledgeable and customer service was so good that I took my glock to have some aftermarket parts installed the very next day. Will be going back soon for more custom work!! read more

Customer service was horrible me and my wife walked in looking for a purchase for her and everyone was greeted or help except us. As my first visit trying to give my wife a great experience on shooting and purchasing her first weapon I must say I felt the vibe I didn't have the right color and this is what I fight for this country for so we can be divided or can't respect each other on a common ground...... read more
