Awesome experience…read more A friend of mine and I went out here because I'm we had a day off on a Monday. You bring all your own gear, which was easy for us. We brought our targets, and clay pigeons. They said they are getting some electronic throwers soon. When you arrive you check in, sign waivers, pay (per person & per gun) and they'll give you a run down of where you want to go on the property. They make a note of you and the guns you've got, and a way to contact you. They have a variety of different ranges to chose from. They'll tell you where they are. The property is really cool outdoors area, and if you a familiar with firearms then this place is a dream for those looking to do their own thing. The owner of the property came out to greet us as well. We made sure to be respectful of the property and cleaned up after ourselves. We will be returning in the future.

They have everything you need ammunition/weapon wise from what I can tell and I appreciate that I can come back here to go shooting. And I probably should, once I'm not longer a scardy cat, but I like that you can't tell if they are shooting, because it's like impossible that I have gone there when no one is practicing. The place is quiet, cold, clean, and just a gun club. Google maps will sometimes try to send you a building up or down, so be aware. Otherwise, a nice little venue that is kind to anyone who happens to wander in no matter what the reason is when you visit.

I've been coming to American Shooting Centers for clays and range time for 25+ years, and until last Friday (12/11/25) around 11:30 a.m., it was a place I regularly recommended. We visited as a family across three generations: a grandfather (Navy veteran and lifelong East Texas hunter), his two sons, and his grandson who was learning to shoot his deer rifle. For roughly the first 1 hour and 45 minutes, everything was fine--one range officer on duty was professional, helpful, and encouraging. As we were wrapping up to head to the pistol range, a different range officer took over and the tone changed abruptly. He repeatedly reprimanded the Navy veteran in a confrontational, in-your-face manner over muzzle angle while the rifle was being carried away from the bench to be cased/put away. From my perspective, the muzzle was angled upward (not level or toward others), but not perfectly vertical. Even if the officer believed it needed correction, the delivery was unnecessarily aggressive. A few minutes later, as we were packing to leave, the officer escalated again and told the veteran he could not walk to his car with his gear until the "line was hot again," because the range was in ceasefire. When I reviewed ASC's posted rules afterward, I could not find anything stating that access to/from the shooting area is restricted during ceasefire in that way. Bottom line: the safety expectations may be valid, but the way they were enforced--especially toward an older customer and veteran--was disrespectful and ruined the experience. Our family won't be returning, and I can't recommend the range based on this incident.

He told stories to make the classroom time flyby and I was entertained the whole day. The gun range was a blast. I've never really liked guns and have always been scared of them so I went in super nervous, having only shot a gun a handful of times. By the end of the hour at the gun range, I felt so much more comfortable around guns, understanding how they operate, and more confident with my ability to handle one. I felt safe around Gary and the other students because he was so adamant about safety first. I would recommend this class to anyone!

My situation was really unique because he needed to teach me how to shoot with my non-dominant hand due to damage to my dominant hand. I know he was thinking, "This is going to be mighty interesting!" It was. Gary's patience helped me accomplish the mission at hand. It wasn't easy for me, and it was painful (for us both). But Gary hung in there with me with such a great attitude that I am forever grateful and recommend him to anyone who wants to learn Texas gun laws throughly, with a comical twist, and who wants to pass their LTC test and the range test. Get some rest the night before & be ready for a long day of excitement. Gary makes sure that you don't leave his class without knowing when & where you should carry your gun and there are many reminders to NEVER point a gun at anyone to play around. Gary's great personality and patience is just what you need. He is available for one-on-one or classroom instruction, by appointment. I plan to return for more range training from the best. Came here with some friends during a rifle marketing event in which they were offering free range…read moretime with their showcased rifles. We used the opportunity to become more familiar with rifles since most of us had only shot a handgun prior. The staff and vendors were welcoming and it was an easy process registering for the range as a first time customer. They had plenty of eye and ear protection included for free and a good selection of targets, ammo, and rental pistols. The range itself seemed pretty standard in my experience with indoor ranges, so no complaints there. While I like the central location of this range, I think my only hesitancy of coming back here is the parking. I mean it is a very small lot to begin with and only half the spots are available to Top Gun because they share it with another business. We got there shortly after opening and it was already full by then. We were forced to park way down the street because street parking is limited as well. Multiple times while we were there, the staff were calling out vehicles that had parked in a non-Top Gun space for removal before they would get towed. I just feel a business of this size needs more guaranteed parking. To note, the range wasn't even that packed inside when we first got there because again we got there shortly after opening, so I can only imagine how frustrating the parking situation will be during peak hours. Otherwise, I recommend this place if you are looking for a decent range in Houston. They also sell all your firearm needs and my friend actually bought a handgun while we were there. It also looks like they host firearm classes as well which is helpful for beginners or those that want to sharpen their skills.

I offered to rent the gun, but he demurred. Then he spent ten minutes of his time (at a point in the middle of the tournament) to instruct her on proper technique and position. He went way beyond the call of duty. The range officers were friendly and professional yet effectively enforced all safety rules. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

We had a groupon for the sporting clay course and a guide. Ask for Marco - he was loads of fun and very helpful and made it all very unintimidating. The course is on a piece of property that was suppose to be a golf course so it is very pretty (lots of hills and lakes). It was a great afternoon out in the country doing something a little different. It sounded like if you become a member, you can shoot on your own or else there are open shooting days throughout the year. Highly recommend it, even if you have never done this before.

After a horrific visit at a close by competitor that has USA in their name... this place stood out like a beacon in the night on a foggy night at sea. Upon entering we were immediately greated within 3 seconds. The gentlemen there welcomed us in as if we were familiar family. We approached the counter and I asked them if they did trades and he said yes but it depends on exactly what I was interested in trading. I went back to my vehicle to show them my trade and a little background and they were more than happy to give me close to what I purchased it for as it was only 2 days old from where I originally purchased it from. They happily gave us a small tour of their facilities and showed us some products of interest. They were extremely knowledgeable about every product there as they are also a gunsmith shop so can also do any type of modification allowable. I was extremely happy to hear that they have a 30 days return policy on anything you buy there. Their nearby competitor surely doesn't have that same policy. The customer service is excellent and I was able to make my trade as well as buy new hardware. I'm also happy to announce that they are adding a range early next year right next to them. I love that small shop feel of a place vs the corporate treatment where you're treated only as a number. In fact, whilst I was there another customer walked in complaining about that same nearby competitor and how bad they were with customer service. Clearly they have a reputation that Texas Underground doesn't have and have been the savior of many. This is my official spot going forward for Ammo and Armory. Be secure and Prosper.
