A pretty good setup for a supply store. They have the basic necessities and a lot of souvenir type items for military family and friends. The location is super convenient with the chiropractor and barber sharing the same parking lot. I would not recommend their uniform set up service. I paid for a full set up, and when I went to pick it up it was wrong (missing name tag, which I paid for, and my oak leaves were messed up). They offered to fix it. I came back a few days later. They got the name tag fixed but some of the oak leaves were pretty jacked up in their placement. The guy tried to fix it on the spot but it looked pretty terrible. I didn't have time to keep doing this so I just paid and will do it myself. I would not waste your time or money with this service. Commandos is way better with everything else anyway. I just wish they offered set up services. read more

Prices seemed higher on some items versus what you'd pay online from other retailers. Staff was friendly and store clean. I was in town visiting my son who was attending a school at Fort Benning. I stopped in to Ranger Joe's to souvenir shop for family members at home and was warmly greeted by Debbie Bunch, who is one of the nicest people that I have ever met. I returned to the store later that day when my son was with me so he could do some shopping as well. Debbie was still working and was happy to see me return with my son and greeted us like we were family. The customer service at this place, not just from Debbie, but everyone on staff, is just overwhelmingly outstanding. I came in to get new boots. I wanted Oakley, but the employee escorted me to the brand "deckers." I do not have an issue with the brand of boot, but they just didn't fit my feet. I wore them 3 times. 3 TIMES. I attempted to return them, but I was told this was not authorized because I "wore them on the ground." I'm not sure how this store expects people to wear shoes/boots? I did not wear them to the field, I did not wear them on the grass. I wore them and walked from my car to the office. Do not buy boots from this store. Insanity. read more

It's 2023. The fact that a large military supply store like this doesn't carry female hot weather OCPs is atrocious.

I've been patronizing Ranger Joe's since 1982 when I arrived at Benning to attend Infantry Officers' Basic Course. This establishment was always a 'must-do stop' for all of my schools that I attended there at Benning through '82, '83, and again when I returned for the Infantry Officers' Advanced Course in '86. Since then Ranger Joe's is where I have made numerous visits to as a civilian every time I am in the area on a business trip or passing through on vacation with the family. My most recent trip was to Ranger Joe's gift shop at the National Infantry Museum there at Benning (a MUST SEE museum that is fabulous!), last month (to see my oldest son graduate from US Army Jump School Class #007-20), and the gift shop was awesome! Ranger Joe's is a shrine to all soldiers and especially Infantry, Paratroopers, Rangers, Pathfinders, and Jumpmasters! Keep up the great work and support of our soldiers. Not the cheapest Army supply store in Georgia and on the Internet, but probably one of the very best. When you need ACU and other Army gear ASAP, check out Ranger Joe's. "Commando's is going to take over Ranger Joe's," that's what my friends said to me a year or so ago and now that I've been to both I can see that he's right. The selection here is limited, particularly with boots I found and with two floors it's just not as accessible and they do carry less than Commando. The coffee shop is interesting but nothing about a surplus store makes me think "I can hang out here." They do offer some interesting services like map lamination, which I think is pretty cool but something that I can get done at a Kinko's for cheaper or I can do it myself with acetate. The clearance store is really small and seems like a clearinghouse for irregular items-an iffy proposition when it comes to uniforms and even iffier when there are signs posted that say "ALL SALES ARE FINAL." Pricewise, it's hard to tell, I was looking at boots and they weren't carrying the brand I was looking for so comparison shopping was out of the question. They do seem to carry more 'novelty' items which turns me off a bit, since I'm primarily looking for equipment not cool guy military t-shirts. read more

Convenience for me! I don't have to have my boots, special ordered, (I wear a size 5), which made it easier to get ready for more important tasks. I've ordered online, and have shopped in person, both experiences have been no hassle. One online order was delayed, customer service called, and emailed me with information. I was kept informed of what was going on, and got my order as promised. Needless to say, I appreciated that customer service. Some prices are high compared to what you might find at clothing sales, and other supply stores but the selection is large, and you can usually find what you need right there. read more

I use to be a regular buyer from here because of the vast selection of gear, clothing,etc. I'm giving 1 star review because of the horrible customer service that they provide. I recently bought a set of the new Propper Multicam from Ranger Joes about a week ago. They cost $40 more then a set of issued OCP, but I wanted to purchase them because of the way the uniform felt. Very comfortable. When I walked out the door with my purchase, I was looking forward to wearing them after I took them to alterations to have everything sewn on. I wore them twice and was extremely happy. I washed them using the instructions on the tag and that is when I had an issue. My uniform and another pair of mulitcam trousers I purchased had came out faded and had washed out lines on my uniform that were kind of white. When I called Ranger Joes they told me to bring them in so they could look over them and they'll see what they can do. The Manager on the phone was not enthusiastic about helping and it showed in his voice and his body language when I came into the store. He simply told me I could have 10% off another purchase of uniforms and that was all he could do for me. I was very discouraged to be a frequent customer after this issue. I'm now stuck with a new uniform that I already spent money on getting sewn up. Bottom line, Ranger Joes will not work with you and has horrible customer service. After talking with some other guys from work, I've heard similar stories. I should've listened before doing business with them. If you want a shop that will take care of you, go to Commandos down the road. They have cheaper items and way better customer service. It still feels like a nice helpful store rather then a corporate monster that has forgotten about the customers. read more

If you're a Soldier who is gutting through RIP, Ranger, Airborne, or one of the many other suck courses taught at the home of the Infantry, then this is your place. When you can't find that one item that will make life easier at the MCSS store on post, then you can come to Ranger Joe's to make it happen. Honestly, if it makes life too easy, then a rambunctious and sadistic RI/black hat will usually relieve you of the item - after all, no one said being a Ranger/paratrooper/jumpmaster should be easy, right? However, if you're expecting to use the barbershop next door and get a style cut, beware. The barbers do high and tights all day long and you'd be better off going to a Hair Cuttery to avoid looking like the rest of the grunts on Benning. read more

I wood have never visited a place like this on my own, but I met a handsome young soldier on Weldersmeat.com and he asked me to meat him there for a frap and some kangaroo jerky. It was a magical afternoon and after I left his barracks that night, I knew I'd have to divorce my wife and marry him. We plan on dressing our wedding party in camo and Boonie hats from Ranger Joe's! As a long time buyer of ranger joes, I have decided to cut ties and start taking my purchases to commandos. I went to ranger joes in need of new boots. I told the sales associate I was looking for a cheap pair of boots that were within the new regulations. She brought me a pair of boots that were $40 dollars. I thought how can you beat that? I tried them on and ended up purchasing 2 pairs of Corcoran 10 in desert boots at $40. I thought what a steal. She told me that they were from the clearance rack and that's why the price was so low. I went home and started wearing one pair the next day. I wasn't feeling them several days later but thought to myself that I have been wearing nike and Oakley boots the past 7 years, so I will just need to break these in. 2 weeks go by and I'm not feeling this boot. I understood I was unable to return the one I wore but I will exchange the second pair. I returned to the store in an attempt to exchange the packaged, unlaced, unworn second pair. The manager said that he would not honor an exchange because they were clearance. I informed him that I asked their policy upon purchasing regarding the return of boots and they did not mention that. He still would not honor an exchange regardless if I exchange them for a $150 dollar boot. He informed me that there are signs saying no return on clearance even though his sales associate brought me the boots( so I did not see the sign). I'm not too torn up about it because the boots were $40 dollars just the fact that I was attempting to exchange for a boot 3x the price of these and they still wouldn't work with me. I just know now to take my business were I can be assured that their representatives will be more willing to please the customer as well as make a profit for their company. I got my dad (Airborne Ranger, 173rd Airborne Brigade Separate) a Father's Day gift from Ranger Joe's, as we stopped by the store on the way back from Ft. Benning. He picked out a lined pair of Army pants with yellow stripes down the side and a back pocket. This high-quality pair of pants only cost $23. I noticed that the store carries Ranger merchandise for wives and mothers of Rangers, to help display their pride. However, I wish there were a daughter-themed something, so I, too, can show my support for my father. Ranger Joe's is a nice store. If courageous men shop there, it's something special. read more

One of two major military supply stores right outside of Benning, Ranger Joe's offers a wide variety of items. Unlike Commando, they do not pre-pack for BCT/OCS, etc. so you are left to fend for yourself. I'm not sure how their prices compare with Commando, and the only service offered that I'm aware of is dog tag printing, though I'm sure they offer other services too. Attached to the store is some type of coffee shop with free wi-fi, as well as a barber shop. The discount store is small and did not seem to offer anything useful. read more

BLUF: Wide variety of tactical gear but often overpriced but they can make name tapes and stitch badges in a matter of minutes while you shop. The first time I visited Ranger Joe's was when I first came to Ft. Benning. After having purchased multiple items from their website, I new I had to at least check out the venue. The set up is neat with weapons and mannequins. The first floor is filled with tactical gear ranging from a variety of knives to equipment like ACH Head-Loc chin straps. This is a common one stop shop for guys preparing their packing list for RASP or Ranger School. The second floor has an abundance of uniforms and boots. While they have a broad selection, I am more prone to take my shopping to Commandos or online for just the price; however, I'm happy to take my uniforms to be sown to Ranger Joe's. 5/5 on customer service, dry cleaning, and selection but prices could be lower to be competitive with online merchandise. read more

They overprice a lot of their stuff, those rolling backpacks are $150 where as the PX has them for $80. But they do have some good stuff like their patches are 30-100% cheaper than Military Sales on Benning which are usually ok prices on post but Benning over charges you for patches. 2ID patch is $4.50 at Ranger Joes, Military store has two for $15.40! My family and I were in Columbus for my sons Infantry Graduation. We had an opportunity to go to both the Infantry Museum shop (operated by Ranger Joe's) and the Ranger Joe's on Victory Dr. we had a wonderful customer experience in the store on Victory thanks in large part to one of the staff in particular. Odell is a true gem of a person! He made us feel warm and welcomed during what could have been and emotional and stressful visit. Odell was attentive and engaging. He was able to identify our needs and did everything to accommodate them. While I was very happy with the entire staff at both locations, Odell really stood out to me as the one I will remember. I have worked in the firearms/ammunition, hunting and survival supply industries for many years. So you might say I'm more than just your average everyday informed consumer. I work and live in this industry literally every day of my life. In a world dominated by superficial tacticool mall ninjas, I'm so happy to see someone like Odell with a place in the Ranger Joe's organization! He's knowledgeable without being overbearing. And I couldn't detect even a hint of arrogance or self important superiority in his demeanor. (Which is all too common in this industry.) Again, the entire staff was wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience in their stores. Odell didn't just earn a customer... He won over an entire family of customers! After 20 years of coming into the store as needed, that came to an end today. We came in for my husband to pick up a few things he wanted since he retired a few months ago and to look at boots with our son on his family day. I am going to give y'all a quick lesson. Don't judge a book by its cover because you have no clue who you could be talking to. Just because that dad next to the private doesn't look military because he has a dad bod and beard doesn't mean he wasn't. It is disgraceful that your associate tried to get my son to buy a boot that was a half size too small. What is worse is her lying to us and saying the boot he was looking for did not come in a 12.5 and then getting an attitude with my husband when he said yes, it does because I have bought them. That right there is how you piss off a customer and lose a customer of 20 years and a future customer in an instant. Needless to say we didn't buy what we had and left the store and drove down the street to Commandos. You will never guess what we found there, the boots my son wanted in not only a size 12.5 but a 12.5 wide. Imagine that! read more

Outstanding support from the staff at Ranger Joe's! I would especially like to thank one of the ladies who worked in the sewing department (her name escapes me, but she is a retired Army veteran who wanted to work at the store so that she could continue to help military families!) I needed a new uniform sewn with patches for my son's Ranger School graduation and she was extremely helpful in the entire process. She quickly had the uniform assembled and completed with the correct insignia and ready to be picked up in just a few short hours. Her personable and professional attitude really made me feel like I was the most important customer in the store! She is to be highly commended! The other staff were also very friendly and helpful and their support was very much appreciated. You rarely find business today where the "customer is king" attitude is part of their business model, Ranger Joe's is still one of those places and for those of us who count on the support provided to the military community at Fort Benning, it is very much appreciated! Of like to know what happened to Ranger Rags? I spent years riding to mobile AL and then New Orleans and Houston and back. 10 hours a day on my motorcycle in between diving jobs in Galveston and Harris county TX and Joes and REd was a stop I looked forward to every time. 10-12 thousand miles a year on a bike destroys boots, bdus, and eventually back bones. I got hit in Houston and caught a "battle field injury" ironically -- traumatic brachial plexus avulsion. Had the right arm amputated and mostly hemiplegic on my right side - built 5 bikes over the next 10-12 years and rode until I couldnt walk at all anymore. And people were always "thanking me for my service" which I explained went to my Dad, 26 years Marine Corps master gunnery sergeant Clarence A Johnson ret 1971 worked for the ,DoD another 25 years touring the n.Korean DMZ never found out exactly WHAT the hell he did. Lotta missing pages in his service record. So-called I been in the hospital 2 years this time and I'm thinking "trike" and Honda 450at. 2 speed torque converter clutchless-- I dont think I got another Harley in me. My first post accident bike was a Hondamatic. SO-- what happened to Ranger Rags? Cause unless you're a bullet dodger or catch shrapnel for a living R Joes is for rich folks who like to play "urban prepper" and " paintball" . As lots of people have already noted, the prices are certainly not the best but it's a good store with good selection. It's a good establishment for finding items you need RIGHT NOW because you forgot something on your packing list, if you're attending Ranger school or JM or BOLC, etc. and you pay a little more than the cheapest you can find online or driving around to the other surplus stores surrounding Ft. Benning. The customer service is decent and the staff are professional and fairly quick. My only warning is, if you want British jump wings for your dress uniform, they do not carry the correct ones. I know this after having been attached to the 4th battalion, Parachute Regiment. Also they don't carry Oakley boots which was disappointing. read more

Poor customer service and they are a pain in the ass with their return policy. I wanted to make an exchange for some elbow and knee pads that I never used for the exact same items in a different color and the manager said that he couldn't make the exchange because I didn't have the original packaging. He didn't have any interest in talking with me and just moved onto the next guy. Needless to say I left pissed. Commandos just down the street is a completely different story. The moment you walk into the store you are greeted by someone and they offer you a refreshing beverage. Every single employee at Commandos is helpful and easy to talk to. Bottom line, the Commandos staff are much better in many ways and Commandos has a better selection of items. read more
