Lemme just say: I was absolutely DELIGHTED to see a' AYCE Hot Pot location…read more I had spent 2 months in Heidelberg, and I was seriously homesick for some good hotpot. This place turned out to be a mere 5 minutes walk from my hostel when my friend and I had stayed a night in Frankfurt. It's super close to the Hauptbahnhof (like, basically in front of it). When I went in, I asked the lady for a table for two at the counter and she instantly handed me the drinks menu. I thought that that was strange, but I ordered a drink for my friend and I and she went on to make the drinks without seating us. Unsure of what to do, I sat us down ourselves, waiting for someone to come over and ask us what kind of soup we wanted for our hotpot. I waited about 10 minutes before finally just asking someone. They were very nice about it (probably partly because I spoke Chinese), but it did take quite a while and there was no real service. Also, the cost of the AYCE is kinda deceitful. It says on the menu that it costs €16 for the AYCE hotpot without soup, and an extra €2 with soup. But what does that even mean?? How can you have hotpot without soup? It's only €2, but it's kinda the principle of the thing. Now about the food: it's pretty epic. There's a spot when you first walk in with dozens of different, authentic hotpot ingredients which you are allowed to take as much as you want (it is an AYCE!). It ranges from seaweed to fatty beef to dumplings to fish tofu and even pig brains. Seriously. Fantastic variety. There's also a station to make sauces with a dozen ingredients laid out for you. Their dessert selection is also great. There's a soft serve machine and really good éclairs. We both got our fill and left. Warning: they only take local banks or cash. Visas are not accepted. TL;DR: food was great. Service was pretty ehhhh. Definitely still worth a visit.

The shrimp paste was awesome and the variety of the buffet was great! Each person has their own little pot which can be filled with a soup of their choice. The buffet also has a little sauce station where you can mix up your own sauce. Staff coming regularly to clean up dirty and empty plates and walking around with a big kettle and asking to refill. The restaurant was filled with mostly Chinese people. That's how you know it's the real deal! Would definitely return again!

Let me say this, I am from a major city in the states. I live in Washington, D.C. Therefore, I eat sushi.... And I mean I eat a lot of it. In fact, I eat a lot of sushi from very authentic and highly skilled restaurants. This restaurant was neither of any form of decent quality nor authentic. I mean for 12 euros per a person I can't complain too much. However, I was just completely floored at their poor service and poor food quality. I also found hair in their food and when I told the staff they were so rude towards me. This place is not worth your time!!! It's a big no no. I can't believe they have customers. I am thinking because the sushi presence in this city is so poor, they are able to stay afloat.

My group did not want to add the hotpot option because it would be too much food. The my had fresh shrimp and pork dumplings and miso soup which I loved. They also had a good salad bar with amazing kimchi and fruit. Limited ice cream options - just vanilla ice cream and fruit bars. However, for this price point you can't complain since it is in a busy center.

Sorry!! forgive the fact that my picture is of food half eaten! I was exhausted after a long day and I just decided to eat in (minus the fact that there was a long wait and a small dining space) . Definitely on my come back list.

Munich has one or two places that serve some but pretty ordinary and so, I was excited to discover this one. The menu here is mostly yum cha or, dim sum as some would call it. They make everything in house and it comes out steaming from the kitchen. They have most of the classic dishes and a couple of creations i have not seen before. They don't have carts going around like the big places in HK but, they do have the same paper menu cards where you can mark what you want. They refill your tea here for no extra charge, a practice similar to most classic yum cha places. We ordered a few dishes to share and they have a small choice of vegetarian items as well. Most of the dishes tasted good and whilst not exactly like they do in HK but good. The BBQ pork was great, prawn dumplings good and the mushroom dumplings were really good. Service is very quick and friendly and the place was packed by the time we left. The majority of diners were Asian, a positive sign. Prices are a bit high but I would happily pay for the quality. Definitely a place I would come back to for Sunday yum cha :-) It's a place hidden away in the back of a shopping plaza behind the Westin hotel. No signs on the street telling you where this is. A lovely find in town :-))

I made a reservation on the website but it wasn't very busy so a reservation may not be needed. It was easy to find right across from the train station. The business does require a mask and proof of vaccination before being seated, which at this point in the pandemic game shouldn't be a surprise at all. The menu is only offered in German and Cantonese, so brush up on one of the two before you go. The lady that helped me and my friend was able to help me despite my preschool level German ability. She was so amazing, I wish I had her name to give her proper credit. She made sure my friend and I understood the process and helped us with the sauce station as well. On to the food. The hot broth is H.O.T! Do not scoop from the bottom if you want to be able to tolerate the meal. My lips went numb and I'm not adverse to heat. Spicy is an understatement. It was very tasty, but after a while it was hard to enjoy for me personally. The tomato broth was great and offered a much needed relief from the heat. The options to select from was pretty extensive as well. I stuck to things I'm familiar with, but I think there are a few specialty items that I may try next time. Everything is ordered through a tablet which made it easy to keep the price in mind and prevented my indecisiveness from taking up the servers time. I'm not ashamed to say that I've literally thought about this place every day since I first had it, I can't wait to go back.
