Rani is the coolest person I've met in this plaza, and she runs an awesome little hidden Gem right in Seoul Plaza. She's not Korean as most people expect from this plaza. You'll find cool pieces of her culture wll around her little shop. Her work on eyebrows is quick, low in price, and yields amazing results. Honestly, I was dreading writing this review but after I told my best friend what happened, they said I def had to let people know. I had come here a couple time for eyebrow threading during covid and well after with my friend or alone. Honestly, it was quick most of the time she was available and although there was always upselling our eyebrows looked decent. What wasn't decent, was while we were in the chair the calls being taken which is fine I get it she's running a business but what wasn't is letting me know each and everytime I had not been doing my homework on my eyebrows what she told me to do. I am clearly coming here to get them done. Finally during my last session here she had convinced me on getting one of her famous facials, I had never gotten one but I was told it would clear my skin and brighten it ( glow effect). I was reluctant, ( I have sensitive skin which I told her) but did it since she said she would be careful and it's organic . I went to a different room where she did my so called facial and applied some of it on my hands to rejuvenate ( of course additional cost) and she simply walked away, she came back once got on the phone, and then walked away, I felt my face burn, like it was coming apart, like Hannibal or some super scary movie. I was petrified, I called out for her nothing, called out for her again a few times, ( Mind you I wear glasses, blind as a bat without them). Worst feeling in the world. She finally came, washed it off ( face and hands) my face felt on fire ( literally). I couldn't believe it, how careless she was with my facial. I never came back. My face, well let's just say it was red and irritated for a little over two weeks, little bumps here and there, I was so embarrased to go anywhere, little marks that have permanently stayed on my face which suck, never had them before, all for a glow up effect but instead I lived a nightmare. Since them, I am scared to get any facial or anything for that matter on my face. If you've had great experiences here, I am happy for you, I am only speaking on what I went through. Where has Rani been all my life? She was willing to thread my eyebrows and under arms even though she closes at 6:30, not 7!! She was so gentle, the thread she uses is specifically for threading NOT stitching. She also gave me tips on how to grow my eyebrow hair back. (Guilty of the over plucking fashion in the 90's.) I contemplated about leaving a negative because I understand how it affects businesses. However, after being loyal to Rani for 6+ years, I will no longer be returning unless things change. To begin, I give credit where it's due - Rani is seasoned at at her craft. She's quick and is great at shaping eyebrows. On the downside, many have complained about the business hours being inconsistent. This is true. I've showed up during opening hours only to find that the place is still closed. The environment is less than favorable - it is the dive bar of beauty salons. You come to get the job done and that's it. It speaks about quality of Rani's business; are you willing to improve the experience for your guests or do you want to remain stagnant? Rani deserves to have a thriving livelihood, if that's what she chooses. Peace. read more

So unprofessional. I called and asked if I could come in at 5 and she said yes! I arrive at 4:49 and there was 1 person on the chair. 20 something minutes later a family of 3 arrive. It's 5:30 and the family that showed up past 5 keeps saying they have an appointment at 5. The lady is in a rush since she has to go to work, but if you had an appointment why did you show up like 10-15 minutes past 5!? So they still got to cut in line. My friend decided to be spontaneous and wanted to get her brows threaded. We were just at Manoa Bakery and she googled the closest place to get her eyebrows threaded and this place popped up. 4 Stars out of 9 reviews so she was hopeful and excited. We drove to the location and went inside the double doors and climbed the stairs. As we reached the hallway leading to the rooms, we looked left and right and decided on right. We walked a bit more and found the place. It was like going into those haunted stories, walking down the hallways with bright fluorescent lights. An annoying scent welcomed us as we neared the door. The place is disorganized, rundown, and just unprofessional. Another Yelper noted the " Home-y" feeling and it was like that I guess if you were living in a third world country. There were even rat traps! The scent gave me a headache and I just wanted to get out of there. We were greeted by an older lady and I honestly didn't understand what she was saying. But from what my friend understood is that the lady that would be doing her brows will be back. I wish we would have known before we paid because we waited for over 20 minutes. 20 minutes passed and the lady "Rani" nonchalantly said she picked up her son-no apologies. She then went on and told my friend that he brows would grow back and be beautiful like the picture she's showing if she keeps threading it. As she said tweezing lead to my friends skin on one of he eyelid to sag and the reason why one of her brow was shorter than the other was because she cut it with scissors. I laughed because my friend and I was just talking about her brow grooming habits and the reason one of her brows is shorter than the other is because she pulled it as a kid- not because of scissors. And no eyebrows are the same, nor is her lid lower than the other because of tweezing- it's because she sleeps on that side of her face when she sleeps- ever thought of that?. I hate when people shove their thoughts when it doesn't have any science to back it up. It's even worse when they sell you olive oil for example that is 10x more the price than you can get at Amazon. She then proceeded to dip her unwashed fingers in a bowl and put it on my friends face. She put on one of the gloves and put powder on her lid and brows. She then took her phone and was talking to another customer and went back to threading her brows without replacing the gloves on her hand, no washing of her hands, no nothing. I cringed, Seriously? Phones harbor so much bacteria! So unsanitary. Needless to say we will not be coming back. read more

The mom charged me right away and I was reminded that I dont get a discount when I didnt even know about them!?! But at least lady was nice. Rani has been my eyebrow lady for the last ten years. It's a small family owned business and you should not expect 5 star service. However, if you expect beautiful eyebrows, this is your place to be!!! For the negative reviews below, I have no idea what they are referring to. I've been coming here since I was 16 years old and my friends and I still come here to this day. She has awesome deals and a talent for shaping anyone's eyebrows. Rani is good with eyebrows but the hours are not correct. Several times I was in the area and decided to get my eyebrows done and went at opening time. Not a surprise and no one was there. When I asked if I can make an appointment- she proceeded to tell me that the earliest was at 12:30. So no one is there at opening and this? When I do go and she is there, the other lady (which I think is her mom) would ask for the payment before Rani does her work. When there is a line of people- that is the tactic that they use so customers don't leave. There was also one time where she asked me to watch the store to go pick up her son and go to the bathroom. Sometimes also Rani can be unprofessional by asking customers to do personal favors. Like going to the dollar tree during holidays to pick up items. Not only that she wanted me to drop it off at her friend's house. When I told her that I did not want to- (mind you, she yelled at me through the phone when I couldn't find a specific item) she starts whining "Then I have to go aloneeee" She also comments how much hair I have on my upper lip. Asking me if I eat chicken all the time because thats what is causing it to grow. I think if she was more professional and on time with her hours it would be okay! read more

Ive been going to Rani's getting my eyebrows threaded now for about a year. The first time I met her, she was INCREDIBLY nice and knew A LOT about what she was doing. She explained to me the difference between getting your eyebrows threaded, opposed to getting them waxed. Waxing them not only causes damage to your eyelids, it makes them droop lower than if you were to thread. The hair also does not completely get removed with waxing, as with threading, the hair is taken out of the pore completely. Rani has completely transformed my eyebrows, for the better. I ONLY go to her, as she knows the shape I like, and knows what shape looks best on my face! Thank you Rani for saving my eyebrows and providing such wonderful customer service! read more

Cant believe i havent reviewed yet. Was introduced to Ranis by a friend and havent went anywhere since. I used to go to designer 21 ...emphasis on the USED to. Ranis takes her time and focuses on the work she clearly takes pride in. While the shop itself is a little "homey" ...i think it adds to the authenticity of the experience. I also get the bean powder face scrub stuff that she makes and it is AMAZING. My fave alwaya feels firm and clean after a good scrub in the shower. Overall...if you looking for a quick expensive uneducated hit and quit it eyebrow thread...go the Designer 21 in the mall....want the opposite? Come see Ranis. read more

Cousin and I came to get our eyebrows and upper lip threaded. This is the best place i've been to so far in terms of price and quality. Rani is very informative and I felt like she really took care to give me a quality job (unlike the other places I went to in the mall- they do the job quick and haphazardly and it hurts like a mother...). Really bad environment. Very poor customer service, she walked out on me several times to talk to her kids. The price is expensive compared to her work, she rushes and doesn't listen to what the customer wants rather decides on her own. She will push u to buy deals and sometimes it gets too annoying. She will talk about your face and skin in a negative way so she can provide facial services. Overall, I won't go to this place anymore. I will stick with Sonia jewelers. read more

I WIULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS IF IT WERE AN OPTION. Probably one of the worst places to get your eyebrows threaded. I came here twice due to a friends recommendation. Unfortunately, that was the worst recommendation I'd ever receive. The first time I came, I was attended quickly & my eyebrows were left uneven, I proceeded to tell her & the store owner redid them. She even had the nerve to ask me if I was busy, if I could run to the GMC to get her folic acid because she was having a hard time getting pregnant. Which was odd because I just met the woman. The second time the business owner was in a rush to leave when I scheduled the appointment 4 days prior; only to leave me with her apprentice. Stating that she was new to the location but had several years of threading. I told her it was inconsiderate of her to leave when I specifically made an appointment. She offered a "coupon" for one free eyebrow thread but I refused to accept it. Not only was she wasting my time, she was being unprofessional trying to compensate for her reason. The business owner said she'd stay to watch her complete one eyebrow but then she had to go. The apprentice was clearly nervous & threaded 2 inches off of the front of my eyebrow!! I immediately got up & saw what was left of my eyebrow, only to hear her say, "it'll grow back. It'll grow back!". The business owner said nothing.
