I went in on April 8th at 10:15am. When someone comes in and is trying to communicate.... Go up to them. A lady came out around the back of the store. She was talking but I couldn't hear her over the loud music. Which is fine, the music was good. But I yelled that I couldn't hear her over the music. Then she stayed where she is and pointed at her face and eye brows while talking. I say loudly again, I can't hear you, music too loud. But I motion to my face and say loudly, face threading please. This happens AGAIN, she makes gestures to her face and talks... at this point she knows I'm here for a threading and full face as I indicated through gesture and speaking loudly to her, because of the level of the music. In my opinion if a customer is coming in and needs to communicate ... go up to them and talk professionally to them. I get my face threaded all the time and I will try this business again at another time. But for now it's a 1 star review. read more

I've been going here for 3 years now but with Kiren for 1 year. I cannot recommend Kiren at Hi Brow Bar enough. When I came to her, my brows were struggling thin, uneven, and honestly just tired. Kiren truly brought my eyebrows back to life. She took her time, mapped them perfectly to fit my face, and explained what she was doing so I felt comfortable the entire appointment. The shape, the fullness, the detail everything was intentional. My brows look natural, clean, and balanced again. What I appreciated most was that she didn't just "do" my brows she restored them. This is a solid Indian waxing and threading place where you don't need an appt, you sit in one of the couple chairs in the open room to get your face done with rooms in the back for more private waxing. Results are always great from the few times I've gone. I love the simple and quick services you can get when there's not a lot of people. However, one time I came and I was in a rush and came in, made eye contact with one of the ladies and who told me that it would just be a few minutes, so I sat down and waited. But I got frustrated when client after client kept coming in after me and were seen right away while I continue to wait. I couldn't tell if they were appointments or if they were favorite customers because they all seem chatty and seem to know each other. I ended up leaving because I couldn't wait any longer. I did knock a star off that experience but other times I've come in and have been serviced quickly with friendly attitudes. I love the Mantras that they play over the speakers which gives it a really great Indian homey vibe. Came here about a month ago and unfortunately this place has gone downhill regarding its sanitary methods. What is the purpose of wearing gloves during facial threading and then take them off to apply aloe vera gel to the customer's face afterwards with their bare hands? I have been coming here for about 7 years. They are not reliable if you want to KNOW your eyebrows will be coming out correct for a special occasion. I only ever have gone here on a pinch recently due to the outcome of my eyebrows. I went in tonight for threading and tinting. The woman threaded my eyebrows and immediately applied the dye before I saw them. After she put on the dye and I looked, I could tell the inside of my eyebrows had been messed up. I told the woman this, and she promised me it was just how the dye made it look. I am not a confrontational person whatsoever even if like in this case, pretty bad mess up. So, when she wiped off the dye I just agreed with her that it was okay and left. The picture where you can see most of my face is how my eyebrows usually look (I SHOWED HER THIS FOR REFERENCE). And the other picture is how my eyebrows came out. I have a tadpole eyebrow on the right and could cry. I didn't even realize how bad and different they were till I got in the car. I won't be back. Edit: Maybe this would not be bad for someone who has less eyebrow hair. But, as you can see from my one photo I posted for reference, she made mine pretty bad especially when having that photo for reference. read more

I'm hesitant to write a negative review especially right now when small businesses are suffering but because this is a health issue, I think it's important to note. Let me first say that the eyebrow threading itself was good. Had this been any other time besides a pandemic I wouldn't have many complaints. The main issue is the lack of precautions this business is taking. The lady who did my eyebrows was wearing a mask, but she was not wearing gloves. She did not ask me if I was experiencing any symptoms nor did she check my temperature before I came in. She also did not see disinfect the seats. Then when she was threading she moved my mask off of my nose leaving me uncovered and basically leaned her elbow and arms on me the entire time to thread my eyebrows. I was so uncomfortable. It was over quickly but I think this is pretty unacceptable. I understand eyebrow threading is a unique service in that it will inevitably involve some touching but having been to another salon in the area for the same service (unfortunately was closed hence why I came here) I know you should be doing a lot more not just for customers but also for the safety of your employees. I have no idea if any of the people you've served may have been exposed to the virus, and it seems like you probably don't either. I've been to a couple of different salons during the pandemic and this was by far the worst in terms of precautions. There's not a single salon I have gone to that doesn't at the very least ask the question of whether someone has been exposed or is experiencing symptoms. I hope this review prompts them to put in some additional procedures because this was not ok. read more

Originally I went to the Falls Church location when I was in high school, I am now graduated from college and come to this location. I've stayed loyal to Kiran as my eyebrow lady since HS especially as a girl with slightly thicker eyebrows, she knows exactly what to do. Ahhhhhhhhh My brows look sad. I went here because I was close by and had no time to travel to my regular spot. Environment The place is not clean. This was my first red flag, idk what I was thinking. The gloves which the threader wore stunk. Service The person who did my brows was a lovely older woman. The other workers didn't talk to me or her and were hanging out in the back. Update: Kiran & co. are still absolutely amazing!!! I moved temporarily further out in the DMV and thought "well, I'll try another place. How hard can it be to mess up my eyebrows and remove a mustache?" and when I walked out with one thin eyebrow, weird spacing, and slight nicks on my face I remembered why I love Hi Brow Bar in the first place. I've never had an issue and no matter the technician (although Kiran is always the favorite, especially for people who have been with her from the beginning!) everyone knows what's they're doing. Grooming up the ol' brows. Located conveniently by a Giant in Van Dorn Station Shopping Center. There is plenty of parking in the shopping center. The staff took care of me as I got a clean up on my brows. It was very convenient just to walk on in and then immediately be seen. I think the whole process took about 15 minutes total and that's including me paying. They were very efficient and I came out happy with no uneven brows. I went in for brows around 4:30 pm on a Saturday. Only one other person there. My brows were very unkempt for a few months, but the lady cleaned them up fine. Nothing too spectacular. The Eyebrow Designer 21 in Tysons did better to shape them. The only thing that confused me... I went to pay and they said the price changed to $10 now. When I asked to add tip, she said it was already added. So I guess the price is now $10 which includes an automatically added tip? I wanted to tip more but I guess they did it for me...? This is the worst waxing services I have ever been to! If you just know treading stick to that don't do waxing. I wanted a Brazilian wax, the women who did my wax did everything wrong. She started with the wrong part and then when I stopped her and said that's not what I told you to do, She called another women. They were both standing in front of me speaking in another language. The other women tried to fix what her colleague did while she stands there and she just made it worse. I left in the middle of the waxing session, couldn't handle it.
