But Trailfinders know their stuff - they are good at recruiting seasoned travellers, including (but not exclusively) lots of antipodeans and South Africans, who have themselves been there and done it. As Shopoholic says, they are good for complex itineraries, or advising on odd-ball plans like train travel in exotic places, or booking adventure activities before you go, not all of which feel secure on-line (it can be hard to check out the credentials and liability insurance on-line). A very useful new service is providing innoculations and other such preparatory medical advice for visits to the tropics. There are several addresses in the Kensington High Street area, each specialising in a different part of the world. Recommended.

They know their stuff, they advise according to your budgets and your tastes, and their prices are very competitive (although you might want to check hotels separately, I got some better rates by going direct or online). At times we felt like royalty as we were whisked through crowds, got the inside view and learnt from locals keen to share their local treasures and special places. Our guide, Charlie, was fantastic, kind, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Our lovely driver, John, also made the journey both comfortable and enjoyable. The Cotswolds were breathtaking! Burford and Bourton on the Water were beautiful, picturesque villages that truly felt like stepping into another world. We loved driving through the rolling countryside and charming stone villages! Oxford was another highlight! We enjoyed exploring the historic university city, admiring the beautiful college buildings and seeing landmarks including the Christ Church Cathedral. The meeting point was easy to find and conveniently located near central London (we met across the street from the Museum of Natural History) at 7:30 AM. We departed shortly after as scheduled. Our tour guide Sinead and driver Richard were fabulous! My main complaint is the bus itself. The seats were very uncomfortable! Secondly, the bus did not have windows, and that day it was so hot in London (80 degrees F/26.6 degrees C), but the air conditioning was not working. We were basically baking inside the bus for 2 hours back from Stonehenge to London! The Stonehenge was beautiful! Definitely a must see!

First-Timer review:…read more I'd researched a few bus tours through Viator, landing on this company's services. First: There are 3 lines - red, blue, and orange, Orange being the lengthier of the 3. In some spots the lines overlap, so be sure to review each itinerary to be sure you are going where you'd like. Hopping on and off is easy enough, once you've pre-determined your places to see. Just keep in mind that the lines will end their closed loops mid-afternoon - to get you back to your closest point of origin. Thus, getting an early start in the day is best, to see and do the most. Traffic: It's pretty heavy around Marylebone & Regent street, so planning a timed event / reservation might be ill-advised. Live Guides: None of the occasions I rode had a live guide, only the prerecorded commentary. But the drivers are most courteous. All in all, the tour hits the main spots. Though I might go with something more personalized the next time.

This is my advice: know what you want out of it because the tickets aren't cheap. ($41) My husband and I had very limited time here in London and wanted to see as much of the city as possible. We're very comfortable taking public transportation but figured we'd see nothing on The Underground. The double decker buses were a great way to view the main sights of the city: Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Shard, Big Ben, Parliament - you get the idea. We took the Red Route, by the way. (There are three to choose from.) The views were pretty good from up top, and the commentary was interesting- while it was running...let's get to that. Here's the downside. Traffic is horrible in London. Don't know if that's an everyday thing. There were also a ton of traffic diversions. When this happens the commentary stops and your bus is just at a dead stop. Do not take this bus if you're trying to make it to a destination. I considered it a way to check out the city and people watch. We never "hopped off" and I wouldn't really recommend it. If you know where you're going, take the Tube and get to your destination much faster and more cheaply. While this tour was a good way to see a lot of London, it took hours and was a very slow and expensive way to do it. I'm not sure if I'll ever do a Hop On Hop Off experience again. Also, I love taking photos and it's harder to do from a bus. Mixed feelings...
