I have been in countless foreign cities contemplating booking tickets on a Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour and we finally did it here. This is my advice: know what you want out of it because the tickets aren't cheap. ($41) My husband and I had very limited time here in London and wanted to see as much of the city as possible. We're very comfortable taking public transportation but figured we'd see nothing on The Underground. The double decker buses were a great way to view the main sights of the city: Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Shard, Big Ben, Parliament - you get the idea. We took the Red Route, by the way. (There are three to choose from.) The views were pretty good from up top, and the commentary was interesting- while it was running...let's get to that. Here's the downside. Traffic is horrible in London. Don't know if that's an everyday thing. There were also a ton of traffic diversions. When this happens the commentary stops and your bus is just at a dead stop. Do not take this bus if you're trying to make it to a destination. I considered it a way to check out the city and people watch. We never "hopped off" and I wouldn't really recommend it. If you know where you're going, take the Tube and get to your destination much faster and more cheaply. While this tour was a good way to see a lot of London, it took hours and was a very slow and expensive way to do it. I'm not sure if I'll ever do a Hop On Hop Off experience again. The meeting point that they put in this app was not where the bus was staying. We called to the customer support and the guy there told us different post code where the meeting point was. He said to us to come one hour later. We came later and no bus there. I called them again and the guy said that they don't collect people at that point at that time and they can offer me another time 1 hour and half later. We were already waiting 1 hour and to wait outside more was not something I wanted to do with a child. I booked the tour in advance, checked everything, came earlier on the meeting point that was announced in the app and still couldn't have my experience. I am very disappointed and will leave bad reviews on every website. Don't trust this company, neither their customer service as they are unprofessional and don't care about people. read more

We were booked with Golden Tours via our Costco package in London. They never picked us up, we called & they said "Lauren will be there is 15 min , we waited 45 & attempted to call them back & it just rang and rang. We ended having to pay $100 for another transportation. They then called us the next day (late) and said "we didn't get to pick you up , is everything ok?". I told the lady we waited 45+ min and then had to find another company , she just said "ohhh. Ok " sat there awkwardly on the phone & said nothing else . I ended up hanging up. read more

Booked a half day trip to Stonehenge while we were in London. The good: *Price was fairly cheap, though all you're getting is admission and transport to Stonehenge. *The bus left at the stated time, both from the bus stop as well as from the location. The bad: *No bathroom on the bus, which seems absolutely crazy for a 2-3 hour trip. We ended up having to get off at an earlier stop because my 8 year old couldn't hold it any longer. *AC was on full blast making the bus unbearably cold for most of the ride. *No direction or guidance given on what to do once we got to Stonehenge, had to ask their employees for specific instructions on where to go. Overall, would not recommend this tour company at all as there are many other options that would offer a more comfortable ride. read more

He provided solely much detail of what we were seeing, along with some light humor. The service and management were terrible. There were three Golden Tours staff members present at the bus for our London Christmas Lights Tour, but none of them checked to verify who had purchased upper deck seats. They allowed everyone to go up to the upper deck until it was completely full. Even then, the Golden Tours employee stationed on the upper deck did not check tickets. Eventually, the upper deck became overcrowded, and none of the staff took action until another customer, who had purchased an upper deck ticket, spoke up and confronted another guest. Additionally, the driver took the wrong turn twice, and on one occasion, made an illegal U-turn. Both times, the tour guide had to leave the upper deck and go to the lower deck to clarify the route for the driver. After the second instance, the tour guide returned to the upper deck and mentioned that the driver had filed a complaint with Golden Tours, claiming that the tour guide had not provided route instructions. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this tour operator. We took a tour to Stonehenge from London on 5/27/25. In the tour description, it said we would return between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. On the way back, the bus broke down. It took them about an hour just for a new driver and bus to begin heading to our location. We ended up arriving after 6:00pm, about 3 hours late. This caused us to have to cancel other plans for the day. Even though this was a complete breakdown in service, Golden Tours only offered a partial refund. They refused to fully refund the trip. It's also impossible to reach their guest relations team via phone call. Do not book with these people unless you want to risk wasting your money and disrupting your travel time. read more

We purchased tickets for Chelsea FC stadium tour and arrived as scheduled. Upon checking in, we were told that the stadium was hosting special tours for the day, and the tour we booked does not exist. This should not be allowed. When you look at their rating online, it's a 4.2...I see now on Yelp the 1.8 rating is more accurate. I bought 4 passes for the 48 hour Hop-on-Hop-off and the first day was totally usurped by a half marathon that had most of the London streets shut down. We wanted to go to the British Museum and ended up being dropped off at the nearest non-rerouted stop that was 3/4 mile away. After the museum, we went in search of a blue line stop and ending up clocking another 4 miles looking for a stop that wasn't blocked off. When I called to complain, I basically got..."sorry, we listed it in your confirmation". No, they did not. It says routes can change without notice. Nothing that told me about the marathon. I also was disappointed with the tour. Hooked to a headset and the information provided was boring. We did happen upon the one bus that took us home and there was a live guide...the only highlight from this miserable experience. read more

This company never deliver what they promise. Very disorganized and unfreindly. They are extremely over priced and taking advantage of tourists. First they did not know what terminal we landed in Heathrow and make us to wait for over an hour to take us to the hotel by a rude driver. We booked a tour in Paris to have lunch on Eiffel and the visit to Louvre and Notre Dame afterwards. However they forcefully changed the restuarant to one by the river and not the tower which was very mediocre and due to their lack of time management we just got to see the Louvre and skipped the Notre Dame, telling us to go there ourselves.!! Purchased a ticket with the extra cost of ticket protection. When my flight was delayed & I did not make it into time on time...they did not refund the ticket. The best part about this tour was of course the sites, but mostly our lovely tour guide, Kelvin! He was so fun and made everyone laugh even when we were exhausted. He managed the trip well, made the historical information as interesting as I could imagine possible, and made efforts to connect with everyone. My family and I feel quite lucky to have had Kelvin as our tour guide. The sites we visited were amazing. The reason I rated my experience as a 4 instead of a 5 is because I felt that there was not enough time at each of the locations to truly soak it all in and have the full experience. My tour visited 3 sites and we had about 1 hour and 15 minutes at each location which includes the time we are in a guided tour. The guided tours were always great but then there was not much time at all to visit shops, eat a meal, look at the sites. I would have preferred to get back to London at a much later time in the day/night if that would mean more time at the sites OR rather have had a tour that only visited 2 sites. The other reason I have not given 5 stars is due to the bad air conditioning on the bus that we were on. In the back of the bus, it was very hot! That part of the trip was quite miserable but no doubt worth it. No regrets. But these things did detract from the overall experience. read more

Purchased a tour of the London Natural History Museum which is supposed to bypass the queue since admission to all museums are free. Spent $20 per person and had to wait in line with everybody else and then no guide anywhere to be found!!! When I called the company, it went to voicemail the first six times I called and finally got through to somebody who only said they were sorry for the inconvenience but no refunds possible. Went on the Bath, Stonehenge and Windsor Castle tour with Bruce as our guide and Tony the driver, they both did a wonderful job. Bruce was extremely knowledgeable about all the locations and Tony made sure we got to all the locations safely. NO refunds even for illness/emergencies I woke up the day of our trip with a crippling migraine. My husband spoke with someone to let them know we were not going to make it due to my illness. We were told it was "impossible" to refund us unless we were able to provide "supporting documentation" of said illness. I felt like I was back in school and needed a Dr. note for missing class. We're out over $250 due to their unwillingness to work with us. I know they CAN process the refund or they wouldn't ask for "supporting documentation". They just don't want to. Do NOT book with them if you are human and ever get sick. You will not get your money back if you run into an illness or emergency. This is a review for the activity code: WBS (private transfer from hotel to and from the studio). We traveled in early October and had a near identical horrific experience as a previous reviewer. The morning started off well enough with the driver arriving on time and getting us to the studio without any major fuss. When asked if he would be the afternoon driver to pick us up, he told us no and that the Golden Tours team would call us later to let us know who would be picking us up. Midway through the tour, we realized that we were on track to finish early and I contacted the company to see whether or not it was possible to get an earlier pickup. They said no, and that was fine, so we waited inside until our designated pick up time. This is where the fun begins. Fifteen minutes after our scheduled pick-up time, no call from the company, no indication that a driver was coming, so I contacted them to be put on hold. At the same time, an UBER driver called my mobile, informing me that he had accidentally accepted my ride request (???wtf) in error and that he needed me to cancel the request so that I could find another ride. That sounded all sorts of ridiculous to me so I waited for the company to get back to me. Golden Tours assured me that they were sending a driver. Now thirty minutes past our designated pick-up time and surprise of surprises, still no pick up driver. Called Golden Tours again and they insisted that a driver was on their way. Said he was within five minutes and that I should see them shortly. Five minutes later, a driver calls me and says that they can't access the pick-up zone because the parking attendants don't allow for taxis/rides to come inside and that I have to meet them outside - ludicrous because a boatload of other taxis/rides are picking up and dropping off patrons exactly where we are. Called Golden Tours again, and they insisted the driver was on his way and that he'd be there shortly. I asked for a license plate, car model and mobile number so that I would be able to contact them if any further issues arose. Ten minutes later, the car appears - license plate, model of car all match the information I was given. When I reach the door and give them my name, they tell me that they're actually there for someone else. Call back to Golden Tours, clearly frustrated at this point (nearly an hour past pick-up time) only to be told that my driver "is on the way and almost there!" Gave me another (presumably) random license plate and car model and insist that customer service stay on the line with me until I am physically in the car. At long last, a driver appears to pick us up and our ordeal comes to an end. I cannot recommend AGAINST using this complete mess of a disorganized/chaotic/irresponsible company to anyone because of this. The drivers, when they did arrive, were perfectly lovely people, but the pathway to get to one is monstrously ridiculous. Word of advice: buy your tickets early for the Warner Brothers Studio Tour - take your own UBER/Lyft/taxi and avoid this company like the absolute plague. Ridiculous experience. read more

Very poor bus short trip of Windsor. The bus was running behind because of the change of the guard which is fine but the timings were all wrong after that. The ear phones were quite cheap and flimsy. Some of the audio ports did not work correctly and it was difficult to see the screen as it was sunny and they were scratched. When there was audio, it kept skipping ahead not finishing each section (driver must have been driving quickly) And finally, the audio is out of date as it was referencing the Queen, not the King. I've been on the hop on hop off busses in other places which were great so this trip was just rubbish and a waste of money in comparison. read more

Highly recommend this tour if you're a no-nonsense, experienced traveler who just wants to see the sights. I booked the half day (afternoon slot) Stonehenge Tour and it was exactly what I expected. Our driver Miguel was very professional and was clear as to what time we'd be to Stonehenge and how much time we'd have there. This tour is not for those that want history or important historical information about Stonehenge. It is basically a bus ride to the stones and back, which is exactly what I was seeking. There was also plenty of time to have a quick lunch at the stones before heading back to London. The weather was perfect with plenty of sun and no rain, so highly recommend going in late August. The only drawback was the bus had a different drop off spot than where we were picked up, so you have to scramble to find out how to get back to your hotel. It actually worked out for me as my hotel was now just a 10 minute walk back instead of an Uber ride. Pick this tour if you want a no frills experience at Stonehenge. read more

Simply put... a terrible experience, start to finish. Not only was there next to no communication before the event (I called to confirm the pickup date and time), but the driver also arrived late. As if that was not bad enough,  the driver had a flat tire on the side of the M1 and did not have the correct sized  spare. We had to then call a car to.pick us up down the road to take us to Warner Bros. The Tour Company did not have the insight to offer that the transporting come later since we arrived an hour late. To top it off, the transportation company had to wait for us (since there was no communication about what time we would be picked up, we had no idea when we would be picked up) and then tried to charge us an additional $20 waiting time. When it was all said and done, we missed an hour of a promised 4.5 hour event. After contacting customer service, they provided a $23 refund, WHICH DID NOT EVEN COVER THE COST OF THE UBER WE HAD TO PAY TO GWT TO WARNER BROTHERS. I will NEVER again use this company for anything anywhere I travel in the future and caution EVERYONE against using this awful company. Customer service is not a priority or even a concern for these folks. read more

My husband & I searched far & wide for a tour that was only two places and we are so glad we found Golden Tours! We went to Stonehenge & Windsor Castle with Trish and she was such a delight, she had great knowledge of London & we learned a lot! Plus she's hilarious...she also took the time to come around and speak with every single person or group to hear where we were from & on the way back she had a map and checked in to make sure everyone knew where they were going once we returned. She clearly loves her job & I'd recommend this to anyone! On a personal note we did sit in the back of the bus which was quite bumpy and very fast driving so my husband did get a little sick and nauseous from all the movement - definitely sit up front or be prepared for that. read more

Terrible bus. Go with one of the other major operators. The main loop, the "red line" runs until 9pm, according to the official ticket seller. Also it's "24-hour" ticket. Neither is true. 1. After the end of the day the ticket is invalid, according to the fine print. It's not 24 hours. Buy it in the afternoon and it's worthless after "9pm". 2. The bus kicked us off at the northeast most point of the loop at 6pm and said no more busses we're running. We complained (with lots of other tourists) that the line said it runs until 9pm. They ignored us and drove off. A second his came by and we talked to the driver, same story. He was also kicking off all passengers instead of finishing the loop. The "red line" isn't a loop. It dumps you at the edge of London and you have to find your way back across town at your own expense. On top of all that the audio descriptions were bad and kept getting cut off, and many of the seats' audio interfaces weren't working. Not a good audio tour at all, even if the sets were functional it was low-quality. Stay away. read more

We booked a 3 day hop on hop off bus with Golden Tours in advanced. We showed up at stop 13 at 10:00 am to catch the first bus scheduled to leave at 10:14 am as per their schedule. We waited till 10:40 am for the bus that never showed up. We then walked to the ticket booth by stop #12, I informed the girl there we has waited at the other stop for the bus and it never showed and we were not very happy, she then said sometimes the buses miss stops, I then said if we stand at stop 12 is a bus going to come, her answer was I don't know. I then asked if she had seen any of their buses come buy today and she said no, I said what good are tickets to a hop on hop off bus if they don't show, she then said I could walk over the Westminster Bridge and try the stop over there. We then went out to stop 12 and waited until 11:15 am for buses that never came. After waiting 1:15 minutes for buses that never came and not wanting to waste anymore of our time we were forced to buy tickets on the City Sightseeing buses of which we had seen 4 of their buses in the same period as well as multiple busses from Big Bus Sightseeing tours. I wrote Golden Tours telling them of my experience, I did receive a response bhop on hop off company was picking up at that stop of which we finally ack telling me that due to road construction that day the busses were not stopping at those stops and gave me a link to their website and also apologized that their employee didn't know that but basically tried to blame me for not check their website even though their own employee didn't know and was still selling tickets there for a service that supposedly wasn't running. The funny thing is, every other hop on hop off company was picking up at those stops and unfortunately we had to buy tickets to another company. Golden Tours has refused to refund my money even though they did not provide the service. Please know if you book in advance with them most likely you will end up having to buy tickets with another company. read more

Took a bus ride to Universal Studios London for the Harry Potter tour, and had almost no issues. Obstructed view in the front of the bus on the top due to the non functional video screens, and their policy on lost items. Apparently if you don't call within 48 hours to see if any lost items were found in the bus, they give it to charity. We were told to call back after 24 hours when we went to their offices after getting off the bus that same day. When we called again two days later (because it was Christmas the day before) once in the morning, and were told to call back two hours later, and did, the guy said it was too late. My guess is they just don't want to take any time to look for an item. read more

The only reason I paid the additional is because scalpers/resellers like this bought up all the tickets for the day I wanted a tour... Months in advance. So I was stuck. What did I get for my $60? Just the slow transportation on a bus which would have been 5€ and less time by underground. If Golden Tours really valued Mr. Pablo, the tour guide for the Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Oxford tour, they would release him and Mr. Majit from the mediocre shackles of Golden Tours, thus allowing them to thrive for a company where they will be better off. My point: Mr. Pablo and Mr. Majit are brilliant individuals, but Golden Tours is absolute trash. Everything is rushed, poorly organized, uncomfortable and just not worth the money. Mr. Pablo, with all his knowledge and charisma should really be at a more exclusive company as well as Mr. Majit, who is a superb driver, and also very kind and charming. I would happily give Pablo and Majit 5, 10, 15 stars, but its a hard 0/10 for Golden Tours in my fair opinion. read more

Avoid at all costs - this company provides poor service and will not refund. I emailed this company after speaking with Anthony on the Live Chat during our extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory experience. My husband and I were visiting London for 5 days with our daughters. We have previously used the Hop on Hop Off bus as well as the Big Bus company when visiting London and other cities. We decided to try Golden Tours and now greatly regret this decision. The issues we had are outlined below: 1) We spent more time stationary at various bus stops than actually moving and seeing any of the landmarks. London is very busy at the moment but the transition times in letting people off the bus and other people getting on the bus were extremely slow. 2) The commentary was very basic and quite limited in relation to providing historical facts and information. When we were actually moving, the commentary would also cut out before it finished the explanation of the landmark and then change to another landmark which then also would not be given a full explanation. Then, there would be music played on repeat when actual commentary could be occurring. 3) We had a very slow driver change and the second driver actually was quite erratic and we felt unsafe given the traffic in London. 4) The driver insisted we stop near Hyde Park for 10 minutes as he claimed he was told by Head Office that he was getting through the route too quickly so we had to sit in the very hot sun instead of keeping the tour moving. Again, there was no commentary while we were stationery. 5) As we were crossing the bridge to view the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben etc, the ticket collector insisted on scanning our tickets, blocking our view and any opportunity to take any photos or videos. This could have easily occurred during one of the numerous stops we had during the tour. He was extremely rude and obstinate when doing this which greatly affected our ability to enjoy viewing these important landmarks. 6) We eventually cut the tour short as we were getting nothing out of it whatsoever. I have never had this kind of unsatisfactory experience with any bus tour I have taken in various cities around the world. We left the route early and did not use the rest of our pass given how disappointing this experience has been. As such, I requested a complete refund due to this extremely poor service provision which they are currently attempting to refuse due to their 'cancellation policy'. They even had the audacity to suggest we should have used the ticket again within the 24 hour period further wasting our time. This company cares more about money than providing a quality service. When I refused their offer of a 25% refund of the total cost for four people, I was very abruptly told that they now consider the matter closed. If you want a good experience with a company that actually cares about customer satisfaction, choose anyone but Golden Tours. read more

Over promise and underdeliver. They claim you spend 4.5 hours at HP Studios. I walked out right at 4 hours and they said I still had another 90 minutes before my car would show up. Three little kids in the cold for 90 min. Just terrible communication between them, the transport company and the customer. They give you no guidance on the process. Our Guide Bruce, on our full day trip was a delight! He kept us entertained with facts and good suggestions on what to do when we arrived at each location. I would strongly urge potential customers to use a different company than Golden Tours in London. We had a horrible experience with them in August. 1. They cancelled our scheduled tour two days before it was to goto Windsor Castle and Hampton Court. They offered us Windsor instead and we agreed. 2. When we went to Windsor, they provided ZERO tour guiding. All we got was a buss ride and admission ticket. I could have done the same our own for a lot less money. There was no guide at all and no explanation of any thing at any point. To say they are a tour company is untrue. 3. When we got to Windsor (late) we had to wait another 25 minutes for the driver to show up with the voucher. The folks at Windsor says this is common for this company. This all resulted in our time in the castle being cut short. 4. They dropped us at a different place than where we started - to everyone's surprise. So we had to spend extra money and time to get back to where we started. I gave them a week to respond and heard NOTHING back. Shows how they operate. We bought bus passes today (20/6/2017) in London and thoroughly feel as though our time in london was wasted. Myself and mother bought day passes for the bus, along with "tickets" to get into the tower of London. The salesman advertised the tower tickets as able to skip the line and get right in. Jokes on us, as we had to wait over half an hour to exchange what was actually a voucher to get a ticket in the Normal cue.  I also decided to visit the IWM across from bus stop 50 on the blue line. I got out of the museum with enough time to take the bus to visit westminster abbey, as i missed the admittance times yesterday. Again, jokes on me as I watch 2 blue buses turn short of stop 50. That is right about 45 minutes I wasted at the stop. I decided to take the metro and got to the abbey too late to be admitted.  8 Later in the afternoon, my mother jumped onto a blue bus she saw and asked thw driver exactly what stop was coming up,as she was unable to see the number because she rushed onto the bus. The driver responded with delightful answers such as "cant you count" and "I guess ill count for you". The bus also had the delightful experience of waiting over 25 minutes as the bus sat stationary and waited for another driver to show up.  I feel as though the 98ish pounds I've spent on these tickets were utterly wasted read more

Because my family is the first time in London we had a problem finding the location, we were late for the tour and missed the bus. I have approached the Golden Tours office in person asking them if they can reschedule the tour to another day. They had no problem finding three spots the next day but insisted on me paying another $200 or so in new reservation. My arguments that they already collected the money, and there available spots for tomorrow anyway did not work. Golden Tours should be ashamed of its pathetic customer service! They should have no problem accommodating customers as they already collected money instead of insisting on shamelessly ripping off customers. My god! I'd give zero stars if I could. Whatever you do don't use this company! Completely incompetent all of them. Complete and total miscommunication, unreliable, terrible directions, utterly unprofessional and completely incapable of owning up to the mistakes that they make at every turn. Yesterday we were given the wrong directions to our pick up point and ended up missing our bus, thankfully we made the next one. This morning they canceled the main destination on our tour without notice and refused to give us a refund. We called and complained and they said we'd get it back. You have until Friday to get me my money back that you stole from me. If you don't then I'll will take you to small claims court. I'll also be contacting our credit card company and make sure that they know about this and have them refund us the money you stole. Never again will we use this company. Stay away! read more
