He is on a great deal of medications, however substantially fewer than when the accident first occurred, which provide little to no relief from his chronic pain after suffering a brachial plexus root avulsion injury in the accident. Today was our first appointment here and we met with NP Michelle who spent an inordinately lengthy time with us and offered some solid pharmaceutical solutions our son can try to alleviate his pain. She was kind, considerate and most importantly empathetic to his situation of living in constant, daily pain. For the first time, in a long time, he may experience some lessening of his pain. If the initial consultation is any indication of the care this office shows, we are going to be in good hands. The front office staff was very helpful as well scanning in prior records and returning them to us before we left. I'm not sure yet if CPC is going to be as Yelp says, 'As good as it gets!' but for now, the consult today was very promising.

I asked the reason and the receptionist said it could be a number of reasons such as alcohol, drug issues, thc, opioids. I don't even use any of that. I even denied the medicine from my rheumatologist. I'm having issues with my spine and my rheumatologist wasn't sure what exactly was going on when she was examining my xray results, but she said she'd send me to pain management to get more details and a natural approach for handling pain. I just wanted answers. But from the look of some of these reviews...I'd say I dodged a bullet.

Dr Rock has been at the center of MY health care & pain management because of CRITICAL issues with our "Primary Care Physician" & multiple missed diagnoses for both me & my wife by said Primary Care Physician. My wife & I both have been continuing to visit our current PCP & my wife, "Beth," has been following up with Urgent Care EACH TIME she visits primary care for several months now & we've discovered our Primary Care has been missing very basic health problems, which "immediately & intrinsically" create issues with ALL other "specialized healthcare providers" & make more severe diagnoses nearly impossible!!! Dr Rock is truly at the core of my care & has helped me to manage constant & excruciating pain, fatigue, and quality of life. He is certainly a "PATIENT ORIENTED " doctor who "TRULY CARES about his patients" & he worries less about making MONEY ($$) & MORE about his patients health care & preventative medicine! My wife & I have truly been struggling for well over a year now because of "fundamental care" problems with our Primary Care Physician (PCP) who continues to make fundamental errors & whom continues to miss "multiple" & "significant/simple diagnoses"!! Dr Rock Navarkal has been very understanding & has not given up on finding answers to my suggestions. I never would have made it this far without his help and we are currently seeking a "caring & knowledgable" primary care physician who has availability within a reasonable time frame, but this has been difficult recently with all of the scary illness going around! I believe Dr Rock is doing all he can to help me & that I wouldn't be able to physically DO what needs to be done without his care here in Colorado!! - as ALL OF our family/friends/ spiritual guidance/ & General/Basic Support live some distance away in the Oklahoma/Texas area & whom all need serious medical attention. I am a totally disabled veteran & struggle daily just to survive mentally & Dr. Rock is always a breath of fresh air!! Thank you for your continued care Dr. Rock! I wrote this review as a "THANK YOU" & to let you (along with anyone else who actually takes the time to read this) just how much I depend on you, as well to encourage others out there looking for a CARING Pain Management doctor. Thanks!!! - Jeff B.

I want to acknowledge upfront that I was at fault for missing or being late to three appointments…read moreover the past two years. I understand the importance of keeping scheduled visits and take responsibility for that. At my most recent visit, when I arrived late, I was informed by the receptionist that I would not be able to see the doctor and that I could no longer be scheduled for future appointments. I asked about obtaining referrals from Dr. Harlander-Locke so I could continue my care elsewhere, but was told I would need to speak with the practice manager. I left a message but have not yet received a return call. I was also not aware that I had reached a "two strikes" threshold, and I would have appreciated clearer communication regarding that policy. At this point, my prescribed medication has run out, and I have not yet been able to establish care with a new pain management provider despite actively trying for the past few weeks. I have always taken my medication as prescribed and have been on this treatment for many years. I am desperate for continuity of care, yet the office staff does not seem to care. They repeatedly say they have 24-48 hours to respond and the clock restarts with each new person you leave a message. I have been trying all week to get a refill and have yet to talk to someone willing to try to help me.

I have a long history with MD Pain, starting in 2013 after an accident when I started seeing Dr…read more Kevin Smith. The doctors are amazing and are the reason I stayed as long as I did. However, the consistent difficulty dealing with the front office staff became increasingly frustrating to deal with so I left. I returned in 2022 after being told things had changed. Dr. Merkow was helpful, extremely knowledgeable and understanding of my unique medical situation. However, the management (specifically Office Manager Dava Thomas and recently new manager Daniel Li) maintain a toxic environment where administrators override medical needs. After four years as a consistent monthly patient with no major issues, I received a sudden "probationary letter" in February 2026. This was never discussed with me face-to-face at my monthly appointments or by my provider whom I see monthly and understands my unique health challenges. When I asked for clarification, I was publicly interrogated and scolded by Daniel Li regarding my attendance and private medical matters in a humiliating, dehumanizing way. Following Mr. Li's behavior, I emailed Dava Thomas. My concerns were met with excuses, and despite not breaking a single probationary condition, I was abruptly discharged via email for "attendance patterns." In her letter, she claimed my missed appointments were "not related to my medical condition," despite not being qualified to make that determination and never inquiring about my specific disabilities or reviewing the accommodations I requested. She essentially made a medical determination with zero qualification or documentation to back it up. Their internal records are a mess of contradictions. For example, on 1/9/2026, their ledger marked me as a "No Show," yet they billed Medicare for a face-to-face visit and issued my refills that same day. At MD Pain, you cannot receive a monthly supply without being physically present. Their records are either negligently incorrect or they are billing for visits that never happened while simultaneously charging patients no-show fees. Furthermore, they have me marked as a "No Show" on dates when I proactively called for guidance due to my medical situation; on those calls, I was explicitly told by staff to cancel and reschedule without any mention of fees or disciplinary procedures. To then use those exact instances as grounds for probation and discharge is deceptive and professionally negligent. The office's preoccupation with its online reputation is disturbing. During a routine checkout, I was rudely questioned by Dava Thomas about whether I had left a review. It felt less like a request for feedback and more like an interrogation to see if I was responsible for recent negative comments. Patients here report being threatened with dismissal for honest feedback. It is telling that the negative reviews here are detailed and specific, while the generic more positive reviews seem curated to hide the reality of how patients are "processed." In the business of healthcare, especially pain management, it is abhorrent to treat vulnerable populations in such an abusive and dismissive manner. I have documentation to back up all my experiences.

If any readers are consulting with MD Pain or scheduled for a procedure at Lone Tree Surgery Center, BE FOREWARNED!!!: they're all considerate and hospitable until something goes wrong - then they disappear behind their corporate "firewalls" leaving you with your pain and misery, to fend for yourself. In October of last year, I underwent surgery at Lone Tree Surgery Center owned and operated by MD Pain. After the surgery, something hard smacked my head fracturing a tooth, breaking my jaw, and giving me a bleeding mouth wound. When confronted about this incident, MD Pain pawned me off to Lone Tree Surgery Center's administrator who pawned me off to their insurer who then pawned me off to their law firm who smugly claimed my wounds were due to pre-existing conditions and therefore not worth an investigation. I should note that 6 consultations with dentists, physicians and an oral surgeon, plus 3 Xrays and an MRI all confirmed my wounds were due to traumatic head injury. A must worse condition followed - 15 months and counting of painful neck spasms, hard muscle cramps and severe headaches every-single-friggin'-day! So I'm initiating a medical malpractice claim against MD Pain and the surgery center and using whatever means at my disposal to spread the word about their nefarious pretense of patient care. Hah!
