As the 7th (out of 20 scored reviews), my consultation with Dr. Fuller left a LOT to be desired. Condescending, too busy for listening, no apparent 'bedside manner' little to none on empathy or patient care and concern. Dr. Fuller entered the exam room 15 minutes late and, it soon became apparent, unprepared. I had spent a good deal of time the two days prior to my appointment talking to several of his staff about his stem cell treatments and working with them to transfer the 2 MRI reports and images that I was able to provide (Only high marks for his staff!) He came in having obviously just skimmed the reports and, talking disturbingly fast, proceeded to tell me what they said - which I pretty much knew, having read them myself and discussed them with my PCP. His summary was partially accurate and decidedly incomplete. When I asked if he had looked at the MRI images, he said no, he did not have them. I explained about having arranged to include them, which he brushed off, saying, "Oh we wouldn't upload anything to our computers from a patient; we don't want to get infected with a virus." My reply (being an educated and experienced training consultant) was, "Well that would have been helpful for your staff to know." He then proceeded to discuss my treatment options: ... injections, PT, etc. When I interrupted to point out that I had already done that and was here to discuss stem cells procedures he looked shocked and said that no-one had told him that. At which point I couldn't help but offer that staff procedures and communication training might be helpful for that too. The rest was kind of a blur. Somewhere in there was about a 2 minute physical exam ("good reflexes!") ending with "my 20 minutes with you was interesting. Sounds like you're not too happy with us, so I don't think we have what you're looking for." At which point he stood up and extended his hand in a forced friendly farewell... which I ignored on my way out to my 90 minute return trip to Boulder. Probably my least productive, weirdest, most frustrating medical appointment ever. But after reading the other reviews here, not out of the ordinary for Dr. Fuller's office. read more

I have been helped at this office for over 5 years and every time I go back I'm glad I am helped by the awesome front staff Dr fuller has. Everybody is so welcoming and supportive, they have answers for me or always get back to me with an answer from Dr Fuller. I have been seeing Dr Fuller for years about chronic back pain as a young adult I was overlooked and laughed at by previous doctors thinking I just wanted prescription drugs. Thank goodness I found Dr Fuller because I have been able to live my life a bit more normal since finding him. He listened he informs and I trust that he is doing the best he can for me. I recently suffered from chronic pain in my lower back. I tried physical therapy, deep body massages and medication. Nothing relieved the pain. I visited with Dr Fuller and he administered several epidural steroid injections to the affected area of my spine. The relief was immediate. I no longer had pain in my lower back. Dr Fuller is a highly competent physician specializing in pain management. His staff is very professional and friendly. I highly recommend Dr Fuller for treatment of chronic back pain. I've been a loyal patient of Dr Fuller's for almost 6 years now and I highly recommend him. He's very knowledgeable and has guided me towards the best solutions to manage my medical needs. I originally inquired about PRP and stem cell treatments which can be quite expensive. He gave his honest opinion that those options would have a low percent of effectiveness with the current state of my conditions. Instead, he suggested more affordable options that insurance does cover and would be more highly effective. He gained my trust immediately as many other providers wouldn't dissuade me from options that put more money in their pockets. By following his treatment advice, I've been able to be pain free longer and able to accomplish previously unattainable physical health achievements/goals. As a newly diagnosed MS patient, I've been through more doctors than I care to recall. Dr.Fuller will stand out as a doctor who didn't consider the human beings involved that he has chosen to heal(?), and whatever routine he has worked out in is head is harmful to more than a few 'patients'. There are enough previous reviews that go into detail about his behavior and they've said it better than I can and I validate those experiences through my own. What I will say is that I experienced a new type of discrimination as a disabled person which I cannot forget. This happened while talking to him less than two minutes, with two of my care partners present. I wonder what other rules they openly flout for the sake of...what? It may be a paycheck to him, but this is the rest of my life, and I could never trust anyone like Dr. Fuller with the emotional, mental and physical pain that comes with a chronic illness. The irony is that why I came to see him was a completely unrelated injury, yet he felt comfortable telling me to go see my "MS doctor" but not before ordering imaging. Hopefully this will show my neurologist that I'm not taken seriously. Sometimes I can't believe that my pain can be bad enough to subject myself to people like him. read more

I have never written a review here before, but I felt it was necessary given my experience. I visited Mountain Spine & Pain for a consultation today, and upon arrival, I was informed that they needed to clear my car insurance Medpay before seeing me. I have a herniated disc from a car accident and have never encountered this type of requirement at any other clinic. I asked if I could simply pay upfront and submit the receipt to my car insurance, as I've done in the past. Mountain Spine & Pain stated that the consultation cost is $150 for insured patients and $250 for uninsured ones, which meant I'd end up paying more if I chose to go that route since it wouldn't go through my medical insurance. I tried calling my car insurance company but couldn't reach anyone. After ten minutes of trying to get my Medpay approved, I gave up and left. However, on my way home, I managed to reach my Medpay agent, so I turned around and headed back to the clinic. The assistant at Mountain Spine & Pain spoke with my insurance company, which confirmed they don't offer pre-approval. The assistant insisted they needed to ensure I had funds in my Medpay. During my consultation, Dr. Fuller came across as cold and dismissive. He responded to my questions with one-word answers and repeatedly asked, "Anything else?" as though he were trying to rush me out. He mentioned that there was a risk involved with the procedure, and when I asked him to elaborate, he simply said it was a "one-in-a-million chance" and added, "You're more likely to get into a car accident leaving the office." He then mentioned that he'd performed over 100,000 procedures, implying that someone would eventually face complications like paralysis, although he claimed it was highly unlikely. Charming. I asked about the cost of the procedure, and he deferred to his assistant. After he left, the assistant informed me the procedure would be around $800. I asked, "Plus the $150 from today, correct?" She replied that the consultation itself would actually cost $500! Dr. Fuller had spent just eight minutes with me, reviewed an MRI I'd recently had (and simply reiterated what other professionals had already explained), performed a brief reflex check, and then described the steroid injection procedure. I left the clinic feeling increasingly frustrated and ultimately called to cancel the procedure and request a partial refund for the consultation. They refused to refund me. How is it acceptable to quote me one rate and then more than triple it simply because it's billed through Medpay? I pay for insurance, and that Medpay fund is my own money. This place is effectively exploiting people. To top it off, there was a large, longhaired dog in the facility--a place that performs spinal injections. This doesn't seem like a sanitary setup. I strongly advise finding a clinic that actually cares about patients' well-being rather than exploiting Medpay funds at their discretion. read more

I took my father in to get some spine injections for his sciatic pain, and Dr. Fuller was very professional and efficient on taking care of my dads needs. The bilingual medical assistants were very helpful with translating from English to Spanish. Overall the doctor and the staff are amazing people to work with. Would definitely recommend it to anyone! read more

I came here for injections due to pain from tennis elbow. The office is lovely and welcoming. The staff was helpful, friendly and professional. Dr. Fuller was wonderful. He explained the procedure, recommended after care and answered all my questions before we began. He had excellent bedside manner. The injections are somewhat painful, and he was very warm and comforting, as was the medical assistant that was helping. They both made me feel really comfortable and calm during the entire process. The treatment also helped tremendously with the pain I was experiencing. If I have a medical need for anything that he can treat, I will come to Dr.Fuller again without hesitation. read more

Dr. Fuller has no compassion. I have generalized anxiety disorder and was going in for a spinal injection. My mother-in-law passed of cancer couple years ago so I have very serious phobias of hospital and doctor situation's. I went in for my injection and I expressed some concerns about not being sedated before going in because I have anxiety with hospital rooms and it. Dr. Fuller came out and told me that we're not doing this today and threaten to call the police on me. He doesn't care about his patients. All he cares about his money. He is a robot when he speaks to you and does not make you feel like you were heard. read more

The entire office is strange and I'm not returning. Doctor is stiff, rushed, and cold. Assistants- all young women- appear to have little to no formal medical training. The very young woman- 16 or 17?- who did the intake documented incorrect info and made assumptions. The one nurse who I could ID as a medical professional also seemed to be the office manager. read more

I went to this office with hope. My husband is 34 years old and has been suffering with a back fracture, unable to work, hardly can sit or walk, is literally being tortured every single day. After the initial appointment i felt uneasy because it seemed very impersonal, but my husband is so desperate for relief we were going to go through with the injection. As a wife i walked into this office knowing that i was putting my husbands spine into someone's hands to be taken care of, we are having a baby and the thought of further damage happening to his spine has kept us both up at night. The appointment started with Joyce being extremely inappropriate with me when i was extremely nervous (again i am trusting them with my husbands SPINE) i wasn't allowed back to the exam room & my husband began having a panic attack and crying(because once again we are having a baby and trusting this doctor with his spine) and DR FULLER barged into the room stating he wasn't going to "deal with this, get out." I watched my husband cry and beg DR FULLER for help and say he was sorry for being scared and i witnessed a doctor actually say "get out". To say i am horrified is an understatement, but i am also relieved to have witnessed the interaction because it confirmed he is not the person i would trust with my family's future or my husband. read more

Dr. Fuller was honestly kind of a jerk to me (read the other reviews- the behavior described in them is accurate) but luckily I have a thick skin and wanted to just get my injection done and get out. The injection itself worked really well and my pain is gone, so points for that. Unwilling to let me explain my situation. Spoke over me and basically TOLD me how I should feel. He wouldn't let me get a word in and explained "my situation" without me telling him and it is completely wrong. Condescending and rolled his eyes and sighed at me when I told him about my other two healthcare providers and their opinions. Such a horrible experience that not o lot did I fore Dr. Fuller but also my spine surgeon who referred me to him. If you want to feel heard and valued as a patient don't go here. Last July, for the second time, I started experiencing severe back spasms (sciatica) that caused debilitating pain and crutches. Dr. Bess of Disc referred me to Dr. Fuller at Mountain Spine. The help he and his wonderful staff gave me was extraordinary. I've received steroids shots on both sides. This was very helpful. After that Dr. Fuller burned the nerves close to the facet joints that were still causing pain. This got me almost back to where I was in July of 2021. I still had a little pain on my left side so Dr. Fuller repeated the steroid shot on that side. After being sidelined from all activities I am now starting to play tennis again at age 76. Dr. Fuller continues to see me to keep ahead of any future back pain. I am so grateful for Dr. Fuller and his exceptional staff. In addition to his extraordinary competence, Dr. Fuller has put together an excellent staff to help with all the various problems patients have. I rate Dr. Fuller and his office five stars. I would give them six if I had the opportunity. Competence and empathy stand out for Dr. Fuller and everyone on his team. I feel lucky to have found Mountain Spine. They are a fun bunch too.
