Torta de barbacoa, tacos al pastor, corn cup and mangonada.

If I could give this a 10 star I would. I absolutely love this place. One of the places I miss the most from Lubbock. Tacos al pastor and torta de barbacoa are the best. The corn, fruity drinks and mangonada are delicious too. Hearing Selena play on the background doesn't hurt either. Perfection.

We've been here twice and ordered quesadillas, tacos, and nachos (along with several drinks, including a banging mangonado and Mexican corn in a cup) and the food comes out quick and tastes great. The quesadillas have way more meat than they should have for $10. This is probably going to be our go-to for quick, authentic Mexican food.

The BEST. Authentic and fresh. A must try! I would eat here every day if I could, but it's only open on the weekends. Street tacos are incredible.

This place is awesome. They sure have their act together. Yes, sometimes there's a line but it moves. The cashier takes the time to answers your questions about the menu. The burrito my hubby had was large and tasty. Just like something I would make him at the house. I had the elote. I've just started eating those and it was a nice treat. The raspada was soooo good. The only complaint my husband had was that there was so much fruit in the fruit drink it clogged the straw. That's a good problem to have. This does not look like a typical restaurant as it has a real Mexican type atmosphere. Everyone speaks English still. I wish that we had a place like this in our home town.

Bomb tacos and elote cups! Hot sauce is amazing too! Definitely one of our new go to spots for Mexican food.

I came here for dinner the other day. I've heard so much about Raspados and decided to try it for myself. They are only open on the weekends and were pretty busy on a Sunday night. You order at the counter and find a seat till they call your name for your order. I got the tacos al pastor with the fresh cut mangoes. The food was AMAZING! I loved the tacos, there was so much flavor in each bite. The mangoes weren't in season so weren't as sweet as I wanted them to be, but I still enjoyed the Tajin flavoring on them. Overall, I had a great experience here and will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes!!

This place has the most beautifully presented food. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is consistent and delicious. We have been here several times and have enjoyed everything. They are the reason I look forward to the weekend. The staff is friendly. The line is long and it takes awhile to order but well worth the wait.

We saw a picture of some tacos from here and we had to try it! The atmosphere is great. Every table was taken as we went in, bit the service is so fast that by the time we left the line a table was opened up for my wife and I. The food was incredible! The chips seem to be hand made and are delicious. The queso seems normal until we found the corn mixed in, this has changed my life! I will definitely be coming back!

Almost feels like you're in Mexico! The food is absolutely delicious. Best spot in town for elotes.

This place is AWESOME! They have pictures of everything they serve, and all of it tastes AMAZING. The staff is SUPER nice and helpful too! You have to try this place, 10/10 recommend! I went with a group of 5 people and we ordered 8 different things for us to all try and share and everything was DELICIOUS. Probably my favorite thing on the menu is the elote with hot cheetos. Their tacos and are super delicious and the caldo de res taste just like my moms... seriously everything is good!!!

Just tried this place for the first time today. I tried the Corn in the Cup, the Asada Torta, and some friends got some other treats. It's also definitely got a unique twist to the fruit in the cups and the snowcones. It was my first time to try the Corn in the Cup made with the full mixture of toppings. It was really good, the only downside is that it was made with canned corn, and not sliced directly from the cob like other places. Nonetheless, it was still super tasty and had a great kick to it. The Asada Torta was a delicious combo, but the meat was a little tough and the bread wasn't really toasted and had a super soggy bottom half (I'm assuming from the tomato and mayo mixture?). The salsa that it came with was good and added extra flavor. I haven't tried the sweets, but the next time I visit I plan on trying the Strawberries and Cream, the Magonada, or the Chamoy and Pickles.

My first time I went, my group of guys and I were put in a room with all the other white people. Not to say they were profiling, but looking at the rest of the restaurant's population on a busy Sunday, they had us in the gringo room. The food hit. I get putting a bunch of three-taco-plate-and-queso people in one room. I have not been back in quite a while, but I remember their menu being the most behemoth-looking thing ever. Every item had a picture taken on a Coolpix camera, and the text was almost impossible to read on the menu's busy background. That is proof that the food was going to hit. After returning, the menu has been minimized to be more readable, only slightly keeping that same over-the-top flair. The prices have gone up slightly, but where have they not? On a Thursday night, we were seated immediately around 7:30 and had a pretty attentive waitress. Like every good Tex-Mex joint in Texas, their chips and salsa roam freely through the restaurant, and the salsa has a good kick that is easy to manage while still having the heat everyone wants. They also have a creamy green sauce and other sauces they bring out by request. I ordered a combination plate with a crispy beef taco, a beef burrito, and a chicken enchilada with a side of Mexican rice. I added a side of refried beans because no Tex-Mex meal is complete without a big serving of refried beans to mix with the rice and crush with tortilla chips. The crispy taco was unreal. The shell feels like it was double-fried. It has such an incredible hardness to it. It feels premium. The beef burrito and enchilada were great as well, but I was blown away by the taco to an extreme. They have a pretty broad selection of Mexican beers, including Tecate, Bohemia, Dos Equis Amber, Modelo Negra, and Victoria next to your Coronas, Sol, and Dos Equis. Their margaritas are pretty great, if my memory serves me right, as well. I love this place, and I was glad to give it a revisit while being back in Lubbock for a bit. It is just classic and timeless. I just wish their menu was as much of an eyesore as it used to be because that sucker brought me so much joy. RIYL: Gaining five pounds in an hour. A good meal.

The restaurant is large and has plenty of seating. We were seated quickly on a Friday evening. Like most mexican, tex-mex restaurant, we were given chips and salsa to start. I feel like I'm not usually picky with something so simple. However, the chips didn't seem to have enough flavor. I felt like it could have used more salt. The salsa also tasted a bit off. Specifically, it tasted more sour than I would have liked. I ordered a bistec plate (not sure what it was specifically as I'm writing this a few weeks from my original visit). There was sauteed beef with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and bacon. It was delicious! Everything was flavored nicely. Went great inside the warm flour tortillas that were provided. The sides of mexican rice and pinto beans were good as well. Aside from the food, the service was great. Attentive and kind. I still wish I could have paid for this meal, especially now in retrospect. My Lubbock host was too quick and went ahead and paid for the two of us. As we left, there was something wrong with the doors on the way out. I don't remember that being an issue as we came in. One of the sets of doors just seemed to jam. It was probably just me though (it was). Overall, I'd recommend this place! Maybe it was an off day for the chips and salsa. Otherwise, everything was great.

We started with the house chips and salsa trio, which is always a win here. The chips were warm and crisp, and the variety of salsas--from bright and fresh to deeper and more roasted--made it easy to keep reaching for "just one more." A solid way to kick things off. For my main, I went the veggie route, and honestly, this was the standout of the meal. The sizzling vegetable fajitas arrived steaming hot and loaded with broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, and squash--perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and served on a cast-iron skillet that kept everything hot down to the last bite. Colorful, hearty, and surprisingly satisfying, even without meat. The rest of the table went more traditional with enchiladas, rice, beans, guacamole, and queso, and everything looked generous and comforting in that familiar, crave-worthy Tex-Mex way. Portions are filling, flavors are approachable, and it's easy to find something for everyone at the table. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a lively bar area and cozy booths that make it a great spot for a casual dinner, family outing, or low-key night out. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out exactly as expected. Abuelo's may be a familiar name, but when you're in the mood for reliable Tex-Mex, solid vegetarian options, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, it absolutely hits the mark.
