a food truck parked on the side of the road
    Jeramey G.

Affordable and adventurous in their model of parking anywhere, food trucks have revamped and redefined the definition of quality dining - and Llano Cubano is no exception to this bustling cultural expansion. This food truck exemplifies the best culinary characteristics of Little Havana in Miami with the personable service found here in West Texas. Great menu items like the Vaca Frita doused in a special hatch chile-mojo sauce, or the classic Cubano sandwich with a chef's special twist, are going to leave you wanting to come back with all of your friends. It is the very essence of the title 'mejor' that is voraciously sought after in Lubbock's rising food truck scene.

Caught these guys by the Civic Center. Great food, nice people. I'll watch for them when looking for a great sandwich.

It came with honey butter and their homemade jam. The jam was so delicious and fresh. It wasn't that sweet and had a excellent strawberry taste. The employees were so nice and friendly. I didnt get their names, but they were absolutely wonderful! Inside was so cute and adorable. They had many tables and seating areas, indoors and outdoors. The line looked long but was fast. All in all an amazing place for lunch, breakfast, or a quick bite.

Since it was my first time I told her she could finish the orders she was working on. I ordered just some simple toast with honey butter (great) next time I'll add the jam also. And then I ordered 2 pastries to go and a Rice Krispie treat also. I chose to go with a latte that had maple and cinnamon in it (sorry forgot the name) and went with almond milk. The milk they use truly is great it was creamy and made just right. Not a long wait. The whole cafe is set up super well, lots of spaces to meet up or to study. They were busy so finding a spot to part was the hardest part of the experience. Definitely will be going back again.

I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it.
