The short walk back was definately required to "see off" the fantastic meal we enjoyed! Our room was quiet, clean and very well equipped. As for the breakfast, typically Scottish, with "Pete's Porridge" a must. Both proprieters very much "hands on" and clearly experienced, and happy in the business. We stayed at the Macdonald Aviemore as part of a Gate 1 coach tour. I have to say it was a very…read moredisappointing hotel. The lift is a story unto itself. The doors open and often immediately slam shut before anyone can get on. Then, if one has made it on the lift the doors slam shut after only one peron has exited. The hotel has onsite amenites such as a bar and an Italian restaurant, Giovanni's, that were always closed. Giovanni's is prominently advertsed and the room guide says it is open daily. When asked, the front desk staff said it is only open on weekends. We were here in September, and the hotel was full of coach tour clientele. Breakfast is not served on site but in the conference centre next door requiring a walk outside. Breakfast was sparse and the buffet ran out of food. I needed to alert the hostess before it was replenished. For the most part if one wants to eat or drink one must walk into the village. The hotel itself could do with some refurbishment. I cannot recommend this hotel.
